Happy sixth birthday, Southern Weddings!! Last year we rang in our fifth birthday with a weeklong celebration (see here, here, here, here, here, and here!), and even though six years doesn’t seem quite as momentous, we couldn’t let it pass without at least a little hoopla. We’ve certainly experienced our fair share of growth and change over the last few years, and thought y’all might like to take a peek!

The best part of that graphic has to be the preferred office snacks over the years (can you spot the Katharine era??), but it’s pretty neat to see the magazines stacked up like that, isn’t it?

Our story is actually the story of all the gals that have been a part of Southern Weddings over the years, starting with Lara, of course, but also including all of y’all! Here’s a little rundown on what the last six years have looked like for us:

Whew! Makes me a little teary to see so many momentous events lined up like that, and I’m not really the type to get sentimental. But when I think of all the love we’ve shared over the years, all of the relationships we’ve built, and all of the amazing beginnings to married life we’ve had a small role in, well, it’s hard not to be touched. Thank you, thank you, thank you to y’all for the amazing support you’ve shown us over the years – we can’t wait to see what the next six hold!

Nancy, you’re so sweet! It was so much fun looking back on six years, to the time of Lara’s Luna Bar craze and before we had our love of farm animals!

Wow! Golly there has been a lot of change over the years and it’s so fun to think that I’ve been privileged to watch so much of this unfold. I still remember when I discovered… I believe it was swmag.net? I remember it looking just as you have 2.0 listed above. So much has happened since those days! Thank you for continuing to serve brides with accurate, inspiring and encouraging content in the world of weddings. Y’all are really incredible!

There is something so magical about rehearsal dinners: the joy of family and friends reuniting, the excited anticipation of the wedding to come, and most of all, the opportunity for the bride and groom to put their months of planning to rest and just be present. While they can range from backyard barbecues to five-course country club dinners, we have a soft spot for couples who use this event to showcase something special about their wedding location. Tim and Claire were married on Kiawah Island, so they chose to celebrate the evening before their wedding with a traditional Lowcountry oyster broil. Our beloved Blue Ribbon Vendors, Landon and Jordan of Landon Jacob Photography, were on hand to capture every stunning Southern detail, and we were so excited to share it in V6!

From the bride:

The natural beauty of Mingo Point speaks for itself–it is a beautiful outdoor venue with plenty of Southern charm, overlooking the stunning river around Kiawah Island. We wanted to dress it up, just a bit, to create a warm, inviting environment for the special moments that happened during our rehearsal dinner. We loved the idea of the oyster broil–it really fit our style and personality. Oyster broils are often done here during the summers, and ours was such an experience for our friends and family who are not from the South. We wanted everyone to try something new!

Taking a moment to take a step back and see the people we love most loving one another reminded us how blessed we are, and that’s what made our rehearsal dinner so special. We loved all of the small moments that our friends shared with us and each other to create an evening we will cherish forever.

Beautiful! Well executed! I am in search of linen color used at this reception. Are you able to share where they were purchased or rented? Thank you!

I love everything about this rehearsal dinner and am going to use it as Inspo to pull from. I am absolutely in LOVE with the olive wood vases and was hoping you could tell me where they came from?? Thanks so much
