Google+ SW Month in Review: August Edition - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

To say this past week – er, month – has been crazy would be a bit of an understatement, to say the least.  Want the rundown of what your favorite SW girls have been up to?

If you’ve been keeping up with our tweets + posts, you know we’re knee-deep in the final stages of prepping V3 for print.  It’s going to be ridiculously awesome; you won’t be disappointed.  (This is coming from someone who didn’t think SW could get any better than V2, but I’m happy to that I was oh, so wrong!)   Lara’s blocked off the next few weeks to do all those little things that magazine editors do.  (Don’t ask me what this is; all I know is it’s pretty intense.)  To help us get through our long work weeks and Lara’s late nights at her desk, our friends have sent us a lot of goodies, food and otherwise.  (Yes, I got silly putty, thank you very much; and yes, I do play with it multiple times a day.)  We have to admit: these fun little surprises make the hard work totally worth it.  Take a peek at some of our favorites!

From Lara:  OK, SERIOUSLY!?!?  We have the best friends in the entire universe!  Daniel Usenko, I just about died when we opened this box this morning.  First of all, it’s my ultimate treasure chest of Luna Bars – every single flavor.  Ah-mazing!  I may have already eaten two.  And then… the card.

Holy smokes!  Forever ago I tweeted about my inbox having a meltodown and all of my email was re-downloading… all 26,528 emails.  I don’t know how he remembered that, but this is the coolest card from Anastasia Marie Cards.  Thank you, my friend.  So thoughtful.  I think the world of you!

Gina Zeidler sent us all sorts of goodies to keep us laughing and happy during crunch time.  Katharine’s aforementioned Silly Putty is an office hit!  I tweeted a few weeks ago that I wanted a jet so I could fly to see my hubs (who was in DC all month doing a rotation) and she sent me a plane : )  Thank you, Gina!

I’m telling you, we might as well be playing “Jingle Bells” around here.  It’s like Christmas!  Amelia Lyon and Nancy from So Happi Together have an awesome shoot we can’t wait to share in V3.  Chocolate and Luna Bars AND amazing images!?  OH MY!

In my workshop, my friend Jeff always talked about taking notes in the shower because that’s where his best ideas came to him.  Well, Ms Janice Carnevale found Aqua Notes!  How cool are these!?  I will let you know how they work out.  Maybe our next great editorial spread will start on one of these puppies.  So fun!  Thanks again so much for everything, friends!  We are so grateful for everyone cheering us on in the home stretch!

Back to Katharine: Something else that tickled us pink?  The fabulous Millie Holloman + team sent us the proofs from our July photo shoot in Wilmington.  We’ll be saving the full reveal for the October issue, but we wanted to share some pretty hi-larious outtakes.  We’re kind of awesome, no?

When I’m not helping L + E make V3 all kinds of awesome, I’m busy putting the finishing touches on my wedding.  Kyle + I will be getting married in three short weeks, and the to-do list doesn’t seem to be getting any shorter.  (Funny how that works, huh?)  This week, we put the finishing touches on our ceremony, and today had a chat with Liza at Fifty Flowers about the fabulous all-white floral decor they’re planning.  I don’t want to jinx it or anything, but I’m getting pretty darn excited!

And possibly our biggest update of all: Emily’s big sister is getting married tomorrow!  Miss Emily’s been in the wedding trenches preparing for their island celebration in Maine, but luckily she’s shared some great behind-the-scenes pics with us.  Obviously, Em’s sis is one lucky gal to have such a talented bridesmaid at her beck and call, and we wanted to show off a few of the projects E’s been doing in preparation the big day.  Congratulations to K + C on their big day!  We’ll be thinking about you… and crossing all our fingers + toes for good weather :)

With a week to go until V3 is packed up and shipped off to the printers, there’s still a little time to get your quote in the magazine!  Tell us what you love most about Southern weddings and what your favorite Southern phrase is for your chance to get published!

Signing off with love + hugs,
Katharine  (+E+L)

I just love that you all are about content…whether it be copy, images or both, you just provide great content on the blog and in SW mag. I understand that magazines need to sell ads and print is expensive but it would be nice to have them all like SW mag which is a nice balance. You give brides what they need to be inspired. I also love that you support all the great businesses out there and realize how helpful a mention or feature from you can potentially change their future for the better. Thank you ladies…here I am, almost married 2 years and I still stalk you daily! As for that southern phrase, I've heard some good ones (having a grandmother and dad both being native to Texas and myself too). I got this one a lot growing up: "You could start an argument in an empty house." Always loved the use of "Bless his/her heart" too! Finally, I have been told by a complete stranger: "You have legs as long as railroad tracks" but that one might be an original :)Looking forward to V3!!! Yippee!!!
