Google+ Real South Carolina Wedding: Grace + Jamie, Part II - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

Oh, hey, amazingly awesome carnival-themed backyard wedding!  You know your shindig has crossed the line from fun wedding reception to best-party-ever when you offer your guests kegs of beer (Blue Moon, anyone?) and deluxe blue port-a-potties.  The bride found her lace + tulle gown at David’s Bridal and the couple’s cupcake tree stand was designed by Grace’s talented mother and sisters.  I’m guessing even our two image boards wasn’t enough to whet your appetite for a fun, Southern soiree, so hope on over to Tim Willoughby’s blog to see a bit more!  And Grace and Jamie?  Do you think I could get on the invite list for your next party?  Thanks.

Describe your wedding flowers: My mom grew hundreds of sunflowers in her garden the summer before the wedding for our bouquets.  The deer from the woods behind our house kept on eating them, though, so we ordered a bunch of wildflowers from our local florist as a back-up.  My bouquet consisted of all-white roses with several red, orange and yellow blooms sprinkled throughout.  We ended up using the wildflowers for the bridesmaids’ bouquets and used the sunflowers for the table decorations. I thought it looked great!
Describe your wedding cake: We ended up using cupcakes instead of traditional cake. We created a cupcake tree and stacked the cupcakes on the tree with a digital picture frame (featuring our engagement photos) on the top layer.
Were there any wedding traditions or new ideas you included in the wedding? Instead of the traditional cake-cutting, Jamie and I decided to have a cupcake eating contest.  We loaded up two cupcakes with whipped cream, put our hands behind our backs, and: on your marks, get set, GO! I won (of course), but I’m pretty sure he let me win :)
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day?  Walking down the aisle with my dad in a tux (something he swore that he would never wear) and seeing Jamie’s face. It is locked in a special place in my memory forever.
What’s next for you as a couple?  What are you looking forward to in the future?  We are now living in Encinitas, CA. Jamie is still a youth minister and I am pursuing my music career and looking for a part time job. Check me out!

Congratulations, Grace + Jamie!  Best of luck with your careers!

Your wedding is absolutley to die for! I love the keg ideas and the backyard looks so elegant! I am so happy to have found this blog and this post bc this is exactly what I wanted to go for. And in describing to people, they probably thought I was talking about having some thrown together mess in the backyard. Everything from your day looks so perfect and I love the cupcake eating contest! Congrats and thanks so much for sharing!
