Google+ Real South Carolina Wedding: Mette + Joe, Part III - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

I’m still not sure how I feel about “Trash the Dress” sessions.  (Ruining the oh-so-perfect dress I’ll spend days – if not months – seaching for makes me cringe just a little.)  But these newlyweds make it look surprisingly fun, thanks in part to photographer Tracy Turpen!  Be sure to check out her original blog post here!

Were there any wedding traditions or new ideas you included in the wedding?  Our friend Brian, who introduced the two of us was ordained to marry us.  It was so special to have Brian complete the circle of our relationship.  He was involved in the first step of our dating relationship, as well as the first step of our marriage.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day?
Having just our family at the wedding ceremony. This allowed us to focus on the true meaning of marriage. It made the ceremony truly about the joining of our families.
Did you write your own vows? If so, what was your favorite verse, line or phrase?
We did write our own vows, and they were perfect for us.  We could not have imagined reciting prewritten vows.  Our wedding was about how special our relationship is and only our words would fit.  We did not discuss them beforehand and, because they were from the heart, they worked together perfectly.  It was one of those moments where you know you have a common goal for the relationship.
What’s next for you as a couple?  What are you looking forward to in the future?
We now know more than ever that we can take on anything! We do not know what the future holds but we are excited for it because we have each other!

Congratulations and best wishes, Mette + Joe!

love it!!! i have a couple that loves to surf that wants to do something just like this this summer! I’m with you, I think "trashing" the dress is a little extreme, so I call them "day after" sessions ;0) Thanks for sharing!
