Google+ Details: Megan + Justin, Part II - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

Megan + Justin’s beautiful outdoor reception took place at the {Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Resort & Spa}. The event was catered by the hotel and {Cabo Dessert Diva} provided the delicious wedding cake. The menus and place cards were done by the bride’s company, {Urban Stencil Design}, as were the programs and guests’ gifts. A special thank you to wedding planners {Baja Weddings} for making Megan + Justin’s dream wedding come true! How stunning are these images from Poser!?

Describe your wedding cake: Because we only had 29 guests we did not need a large cake. We chose a small two tier cake accented with small piped dots frosted with gold foil. The white cake was flavored with Grand Mariner and orange zest and frosted with butter cream, topped with a few multi-color tulips to match the centerpieces.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Justin and I wrote our own vows for the ceremony. Though we did not recite them, we each read from cards and that was truly the highlight for me during the ceremony. It was great to hear and feel the emotion he and I have towards each other, but having our family and friends witnessing this special moment between the two of us.
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Elegant, Intimate, Unforgettable
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Never lose sight of why you are getting married. I think people tend to get all wrapped up in the details and put so much pressure on those things instead of realizing the importance of what the event represents. I am a very meticulous person myself, but I enjoyed our engagement time and planning as much as the wedding itself and always tried to put things into perspective. Also, know that it’s never too soon to start planning. Even if you are single, start putting pictures and things you see in magazines and books aside in a binder. You will thank yourself later when the time comes and will know where to begin. It’s always easier, and less stressful, than starting from scratch.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? Justin and I want to continue to grow as a couple, in our relationship as well as our family and our businesses. Every day that we get to spend together is a gift and now that we finally live together we certainly don’t take anything for granted. We have a trip to Greece in the works to celebrate our 30th birthdays and hope to plan a few more excursions soon. Justin and I want to also begin the pursuit of our dream home, along a coast line!
Any DIY items? Because I am a graphic designer by profession, pretty much everything to encompass the wedding theme was a DIY project. We gave each wedding guest a welcome box full of goodies for the trip, custom water bottles, confetti envelopes for the post-ceremony celebration, ceremony programs, chair covers, cake table cloth, menu & place cards, Sunday brunch crossword puzzle with personalized pencils, coasters, napkins, save the date package with Spanish translation book, invitations, reply cards, and a hand-painted custom maraca set for each guest.

Congratulations Megan + Justin! We wish you the best in the pursuit of your dreams!
