This wedding come to us from the fantastic {Jonathan Canlas Photography}.  Jonathan captured this wedding of Amelia + Christopher.  The two were married at their local temple in Salt Lake City and had a stunning reception at the {Memorial House}.  The evening was filled with delicious food by {Culinary Cafts} who even made the wedding cupcakes. Christopher, who happens to be filled of musical talented, performed a song to his bride and guests.  Look closely and you will see a kilt, courtsey of Christopher’s English/Scottish family heritage.  Amelia took care of all the planning for this celebration and did a terrific job with even finding her dream dress on {eBay}.  To see more images click over to Jonathan Canlas’ {Blog}.

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. Christopher and I met at a curry party three years ago. I saw him and asked my friend, “Who is that?” I sat next to him and spoke to him for five minutes before we were cut off. Nothing came from the exchange at the time. Six months later I left on a church mission for a year and half, and during that time our two best friends married each other. When I returned from my mission we reconnected through the best friends at Christopher’s rock show. Christopher was singing and he had a voice like Morrissey. He and his band mates came to my house after the show for some Wii, and the two of us talked for seven hours straight. We have enjoyed each other’s company since.
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? My wedding’s design was based on a feeling that I wanted my guests to have: enchantment. I wanted an intimate affair for my guest’s to remember fondly for the rest of their lives. My design was created around this idea of warmth and soft conversations.
Favorite design element of your big day: My husband’s kilt was the best design element of the evening. Christopher is half English/Scottish, and they typically wear kilts on special occasions. He looked absolutely charming and we all had the pleasure of gazing at him while he serenaded me with an original song.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I knew exactly what I wanted in my dress. I wanted a very fitted style around my waist and hips, flaring out at the knees, in a mermaid shape. I was in school while planning my wedding, so I wanted to find something ASAP. My friend took me onto eBay for my first time, and within 10 minutes I had found and ordered just the dress I was looking for!
Describe your wedding flowers: My bouquet was angular with calla lilies and a lot of greenery. The flowers in the center of the dinner tables were also calla lilies.
Describe your wedding cake: My husband and I decided against a wedding cake for a few reasons, the most important being that they do not taste very good! We also considered that our guests would be eating a four-course meal, and would probably not be too hungry for a big slice of mediocre cake. We opted for mini cupcakes, in outrageously delicious flavors such as pistachio and rose water, chocolate, and banana with cream cheese frosting. After the cupcakes, as a linger-longer, our guests were offered freshly made churros with Valrhona hot chocolate. This also made for an easy escape for Christopher and me.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Our location was Heavenly. Our dinner was held in a historic home, the Memorial House in Salt Lake City, Utah. The ceiling was vaulted, making excellent acoustics for Christopher’s performance, and the home’s ambience and winter greenery decor was nonpareil.
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Heavenly, joyous, fulfilling
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Choose to focus on the larger movement of events over tiny details that will be forgotten. People remember the beautiful flow of the event instead of the color of their tablecloth.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? Christopher is looking for jobs in Washington DC, I am finishing school and starting my own career. We look forward to future road trips together and forming our own band and family.
Any DIY items? We made time-intensive invitations in beautifully patterned card stock, folded in a way to hold a cd (the cd looked like a record). We wanted to give our loved ones a piece of art.

Congratulations to Amelia + Christopher. We wish you the best as you begin your life together!

Jennifer + Fritz called their wedding theme a combination of Jennifer’s love for gardening and Fritz’s love for hunting.  With a theme like that you wonder how elegance and grace could be pull off?  But Jennifer + Fritz managed to take their themes and create a stunning and graceful wedding decor.  Jennifer + Fritz’s reception took place at {Whitehall}, a historic home in Louisville, Kentucky. The wedding feast included dinner by {Jarfi’s Bistro}.  For entertainment, Jennifer + Fritz had {Shannon Lawson} from Nashville up to perform.  Wedding coordination by {Weddings by Amelia}.  To see all the shots, check out Bella Grace Studio’s {slideshow} of Jennifer + Fritz.

The weather on our wedding day was: We got married at the end of September, so you just never know what type of weather that you will get. It was a little cloudy and somewhat cool during the ceremony. I was a little bummed at first, as I always envisioned my wedding day to be sunny. But, the videographer and the photographer both assured me that overcast is better for pictures.
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? The design inspiration was to combine my love of gardening and Fritz’s passion for the outdoors and hunting all together, but still keep it tasteful and elegant. So, we included deer sheds in the centerpieces and gave giant snow flake bulbs as our wedding gift to our guests.
Favorite design element of your big day: I loved the colors. We chose copper and chocolate. They worked perfectly with the fall day. The groomsmen wore chocolate tuxes. The colors in the tent looked very warm.
Describe your wedding cake: We are not dessert eaters, but realized that many of our guest would be. Therefore, we decided to not pick out a cake and instead have assorted miniature desserts such as mini crème brulee, key lime pie and, of course, derby pie.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? The budget!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? There are numerous… But, one of the most memorable was at the end of the night when the band was playing, I was looking around the dance floor and it was packed with people dancing and everyone was having a great time…I thought to myself, I am so glad that our friends and family are enjoying this day with us.
Scariest moment? We don’t really have one thank goodness….
Funniest moment? The pastor that officiated the ceremony was a little nervous and he totally rearranged the series of events that we had discussed at the rehearsal dinner. We had asked to say the Lord’s Prayer in honor of Fritz’s mom and he total left out one whole sentence of the prayer!
The most unexpected event on our wedding day was: The valet parkers were late and everyone was early or just on time for the wedding. So, the traffic got a little backed up on the horseshoe shaped drive at Whitehall Mansion. I do not think anyone noticed except me though.
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Real, spiritual and perfect.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Get a binder! And, enjoy the planning. You are somewhat bored when all the hoopla is over.
Best advice or most memorable comment someone made to you during the wedding celebration. I heard, “Well, it’s about time!” a few times… I suppose after 8 years, it was.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? Well, we just bought a house this week, so that will keep us busy for awhile and Fritz has a 1959 GMC truck that he has been wanting to restore, so that will be his project.

Congratulations to Jennifer + Fritz.  We wish you the best as you move into your home and work on the GMC Truck!

This is a wedding from the Bluegrass state of Kentucky with a lot of Southern charm.  We love the beautiful floral design and the ceremony site of a garden.  Gorgeous, huh?  Jennifer + Fritz were married in the {Cathedral Gardens}.  Jennifer carried a bouquet composed of calla lilies and yellow roses.  The couple hired {Lloyd’s Florist} to create all the beautiful personal flowers and reception flowers.  This wedding was submitted by our friend, Josh, at {Bella Grace Studio’s}. More to come.

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. We actually met in Puerto Rico. Although Jennifer is a native of Louisville, Kentucky, she was living and working on the island in the late 90’s. Fritz was living in Louisville, at the time, but flew to San Juan quite frequently. Fritz’s neighbor, who is a friend of our family, knew that I was living in Puerto Rico, and Fritz was flying there a lot for work, so he suggested that Fritz call me since we had the Louisville connection.
Describe the proposal: Actually, we dated for eight years, so once we decided that we were going to get married it was a done deal. He bought the ring and kept it in a “secret” place until the right moment. I knew that he had the ring the whole time and was dying to see it. So, one evening I just said let me see the ring, and I just never gave it back!
Why do you love your husband? I am attracted to Fritz because he does not take life too seriously. He is extremely witty. He is a genuine person that really cares about others and is willing to do whatever it takes to help anyone that needs some attention or help.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I found it at the second bridal shop that we looked. I have never been one to like a lot of lace and frills, so simple and elegant was the direction that I took with my gown.
Describe your wedding flowers: I wanted to incorporate as many herbs, berries and greenery into the bouquets and boutonniere’s as possible. The bouquet was a mini-cascade with various lilies and roses. We were trying to go for the oranges, reds and yellow to enhance the brown and copper.
Were there any special family traditions you included in the wedding? Yes, the tiara that I wore belonged to my cousin’s wife who passed away of ovarian cancer two years ago. She wore the tiara at their wedding in 2005. I had not even thought about what I was going to do with hair, at that point, so I was honored and touched to be able to wear Beth’s tiara for our wedding. I also carried a handkerchief that belonged to Fritz’s great grandmother. It was given to me by his sister at one of my showers, and it meant a lot to carry something of tradition from his family as well.

More to come from Jennifer + Fritz!
