Google+ Real Wedding: Jennifer + Fritz, Part II - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

Jennifer + Fritz called their wedding theme a combination of Jennifer’s love for gardening and Fritz’s love for hunting.  With a theme like that you wonder how elegance and grace could be pull off?  But Jennifer + Fritz managed to take their themes and create a stunning and graceful wedding decor.  Jennifer + Fritz’s reception took place at {Whitehall}, a historic home in Louisville, Kentucky. The wedding feast included dinner by {Jarfi’s Bistro}.  For entertainment, Jennifer + Fritz had {Shannon Lawson} from Nashville up to perform.  Wedding coordination by {Weddings by Amelia}.  To see all the shots, check out Bella Grace Studio’s {slideshow} of Jennifer + Fritz.

The weather on our wedding day was: We got married at the end of September, so you just never know what type of weather that you will get. It was a little cloudy and somewhat cool during the ceremony. I was a little bummed at first, as I always envisioned my wedding day to be sunny. But, the videographer and the photographer both assured me that overcast is better for pictures.
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? The design inspiration was to combine my love of gardening and Fritz’s passion for the outdoors and hunting all together, but still keep it tasteful and elegant. So, we included deer sheds in the centerpieces and gave giant snow flake bulbs as our wedding gift to our guests.
Favorite design element of your big day: I loved the colors. We chose copper and chocolate. They worked perfectly with the fall day. The groomsmen wore chocolate tuxes. The colors in the tent looked very warm.
Describe your wedding cake: We are not dessert eaters, but realized that many of our guest would be. Therefore, we decided to not pick out a cake and instead have assorted miniature desserts such as mini crème brulee, key lime pie and, of course, derby pie.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? The budget!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? There are numerous… But, one of the most memorable was at the end of the night when the band was playing, I was looking around the dance floor and it was packed with people dancing and everyone was having a great time…I thought to myself, I am so glad that our friends and family are enjoying this day with us.
Scariest moment? We don’t really have one thank goodness….
Funniest moment? The pastor that officiated the ceremony was a little nervous and he totally rearranged the series of events that we had discussed at the rehearsal dinner. We had asked to say the Lord’s Prayer in honor of Fritz’s mom and he total left out one whole sentence of the prayer!
The most unexpected event on our wedding day was: The valet parkers were late and everyone was early or just on time for the wedding. So, the traffic got a little backed up on the horseshoe shaped drive at Whitehall Mansion. I do not think anyone noticed except me though.
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Real, spiritual and perfect.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Get a binder! And, enjoy the planning. You are somewhat bored when all the hoopla is over.
Best advice or most memorable comment someone made to you during the wedding celebration. I heard, “Well, it’s about time!” a few times… I suppose after 8 years, it was.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? Well, we just bought a house this week, so that will keep us busy for awhile and Fritz has a 1959 GMC truck that he has been wanting to restore, so that will be his project.

Congratulations to Jennifer + Fritz.  We wish you the best as you move into your home and work on the GMC Truck!
