Google+ Details: Christa + Travis, Part II - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

More details from Christa + Travis’ lovely garden wedding…  The wedding day feast was catered by {Command Performance Catering Group}, wedding cake created by {Skiff’s Cake}, floral design by the amazing team at {Holly Flora} and design and planning by Beth of {Beth Helmstetter Events} and gorgeous calligraphy by the fabulous {Laura Hooper}.  Check out more shots from the fabulous photographer, Meg Perotti, on her {Blog}.

Three adjectives that describe the day are: Magical, Romantic, Organic.
Describe your wedding flowers: I wanted the flowers to be different shades of white and cream. I wanted there to be a lot of dimension but not too many different colors. I also loved hyndrangeas, so I wanted to utilize those as much as possible. For the center pieces we had hurricanes in different heights with white pillar candles in them. There were flowers all around the base of the hurricanes and it ended up looking effortless and chic. We also had the florist place candle-filled Mason Jars everywhere and hang globes with candles in them from the trees.
Describe your wedding cake: We knew we wanted three different cakes and three different flavors. The flavors were red velvet with cream cheese frosting, yellow-cake with raspberry filling, and a spice cake with hazelnut filling. The designs of the three cakes were mixed and matched, but definitely tied together and they were set at different heights.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: It’s definitely a tie between the mashed potato bar (mashed potatoes with every topping imaginable served in martini glasses) and the s’mores station (with a castiron stove). The s’mores station was our planners idea and it was a big hit!
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Whatever you do, don’t get caught up in traditions if it’s not your thing. Each and every wedding tradition does not have to be followed. Just choose the ones that feel right to you as a couple. And of course, remember what the event is really about….the two people getting married. The wedding should reflect their personalities. Oh, and hire Beth Helmstetter as your wedding planner! She was amazing, relaxed, and very professional.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? We are very excited to welcome a baby boy to our family in May!
Any DIY items? My mother made the wedding favors. They were mason jars with a peach pie filling inside. The guests loved them and some people even told me they used the filling as jam and it was great!

Congratulations to Christa + Travis.  We wish you the best with your newest family member on the way!
