Google+ Real Wedding: Kellie + Warren, Part II - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

Welcome back to Part II!  After the lovely ceremony, guests received their own orchid and custom placecard… beautiful!  OK, southerners, check out the grooms cake! Warren’s cake was a combination of two things he loves- golf and the University of North Carolina. To see more details from Kellie + Warren’s big day, check out Laura Novak’s {Blog}. Happy Tuesday!

What was the design inspiration for your wedding? We wanted something traditional and classic and of course pink!
Favorite design element of your big day: I loved what the florist did with the staircase. She draped it with silk fabric and pink peonies. The display of the place cards was really cool; everyone got to bring home their very own orchid. I also loved the hanging lanterns in the reception tent they were so pretty after the sun went down. There were floating peonies in the fountain and the tables! I loved the pretty pink linens and our special pink cocktail, the pink passion. I think Warren’s favorite was his groom’s cake. He is a University of North Carolina alumni and avid golfer, so the cake was special for him.
Describe your wedding flowers: My bouquet was made up of pink peonies, white stephanotis, white and soft pink roses and cymbidium orchids. Warren’s boutonniere was white stephanotis. The bridesmaids carried small posies of roses and peonies. The table arrangements were peonies, roses and orchids. Everyone had the own personal orchid favor to take home with them.
Describe your wedding cake: The cake was 4 tiers. Each tier was a different flavor. There was chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling, vanilla cake with strawberry mousse filling and the Liz Marden specialty: two layers of chocolate cake and one layer of vanilla cake with white chocolate mousse filling and a layer of raspberry gel. Yum! The cake was frosted on vanilla butter cream. Our monogram was on the top layer of the cake. A layer of pink roses divided each tier. There was iced beading around each layer of the cake.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Warren worked very hard on assembling a slide show. He started with pictures of both of us when we were younger, pictures that gave our guests an idea of who we were back then. He then chose pictures of our five and a half years together as a couple. He had funny little captions that went with some of the pictures. Also, our first dance at the wedding was quite memorable. We took dancing lessons for a couple of months before the wedding. However, it was quite unnerving dancing with a room full of people watching and we both kept tripping over my dress and veil. However, I still thought it was a fabulous first dance!
Funniest moment? The speeches given by Scott, on how myself and Warren met. My sister’s speech was funny, but also very touching and emotional. Definitely unforgettable.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Stick to your budget! It will make everyone happy! Try to enjoy every moment. It goes by so fast. Try not to get too stressed out or caught up so much in every little detail instead try to keep in mind what the day is truly about.
What’s next for you as a couple? Enjoying being newlyweds!

Congrats to Kellie + Warren! We wish you a lifetime of happiness~

"Pink is my favorite color!" Do you sing this Aerosmith song everytime you see beautiful pink things?
