Google+ Real Wedding: Natalie + Jonah - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

I love this couple!  The bride is a southern belle, born and raised in Savannah, GA.  The groom is from Seattle, WA. The two met in New York City, while attending NYU.  {The Jepson Center}, Savannah’s Modern Art Museum, provided a beautiful backdrop for their fun and festive wedding celebration. The gorgeous warm pink florals were created by Charlotte Hough Floral Design. Thank you Kellie of {Kellie Kano Photography} for sharing these stunning images with us. Enjoy~

The weather was: Luckily not to hot or humid, a rare cool May day in Savannah.
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? New York sophistication with a southern flair.
What colors did you choose for your wedding? Black and white wedding with an accent palette of peaches and pinks.
The flowers: Peonies, roses, ginger flowers.
The cake: It was made by a family friend. Square, simple and modern.
How did the two of you meet? We met through a mutual friend while attending NYU. We were friends for almost a year before we started dating. We’re best friends who happened to fall in love.
Describe your engagement: It was everything we both love about New York. Jonah took me to dinner at the Rainbow Room for our anniversary. He then persuaded me to go to the Top of the Rock. He got down on one knee in front of the beautiful Manhattan skyline. We went back to my apartment where a fantastic party had been organized by our incredible friends.
What attracted me to my husband was: His sense of humor.
What attracted me to my wife was: Her sense of humor.
A date we went on that we’ll always remember: When we spent our first Christmas together in Savannah with Natalie’s family. I fell in love with the city and loved that my girl was from there.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: The hot pink shoes and the table names were Savannah locations, New York locations and Seattle locations (the groom’s hometown).
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? Planning a Savannah wedding while in New York with guests arriving all the way from Seattle.
Where there any special family traditions you included in the wedding? If eating way too much is a tradition, yes.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? The reception was incredible. All the pressure was off. It was just a great party.
Scariest moment? About thirty minutes before the wedding. I think everybody gets those jitters because you know a roomful of people, a large roomful, is about to have all eyes on you. It’s almost like stage fright.
Funniest moment? The groom being serenaded by his best man and a groomsmen, complete with choreography.
What were your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue items? I didn’t do it! It was too hard. Is that bad luck?

Why do you love your husband? Because I’m fully myself when he’s beside me.
The most unexpected event on our wedding day was: The entertainment! Jonah sang, the groomsmen sang, it was like a concert.
How was your wedding different than the way you’d always imagined it would be? The ceremony was a complete blur. I think you always imagine that as the most important piece, and it is, but I was just not there mentally and neither was Jonah.
Three adjectives that describe the day are: entertaining, laughter, FOOD
!
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? If it feels right, go for it. Choose the flowers, food, colors, dress and the man you love, and you’ll be fine.

Congratulations, Natalie + Jonah!
