How I got into weddings: As the youngest girl of four sisters, I’ve always loved playing with hair and makeup! Getting into weddings was very natural for me. I was that friend in high school who would have everyone over before prom and get everyone gussied up. Once we graduated and friends started getting married, I was still that trusted friend called upon for the wedding day look. I fell in love with being a presence of peace, a sounding board, and a visionary with these women who wanted to look and feel their best on their wedding day. My name got passed along from there, and it’s been LULA ever since!
Favorite thing about weddings in the South? The rich sense of honoring family, tradition, true joy, and Southern culture. Southerners know how to have real, down-home fun in the most beautiful ways!
Favorite part of a wedding day? For my job, I am with the bride from robe to gown. My favorite part of my experience is seeing that moment the bride truly realizes that she is hours away from the party she has been planning for months – a sweet mix of excitement and shock. I love being with her in those genuine, special moments, and getting to tell her how beautiful she is!
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? Laugh as much as possible.
Dream travel destination? Anywhere with rolling hills, fair weather, swimming holes, wildflowers, and log cabins.
Favorite Southern city? Boone, North Carolina. I went to school there and am infinitely in love with the blue ridges, foggy mornings, and farmers markets!
Early bird or night owl? Early bird by willpower, night owl by nature
Pie bar or red velvet cake? Pie bar
Pottery Barn or Anthropologie? Yes, please!
Succulents or peonies? Peonies
