Hi there! I’m Laura (Ashton) Helm of Ashton Events. I delight in creating inventive celebrations for clients that are tailored to their heritages, their memories, and their futures. Like a good book, a favorite movie, or a cherished memory, what makes a wedding great is the meaning that comes through it—the significance it embodies, and the love it represents. I have a passion or designing with the unexpected and delighting people with the details. Whether I am crafting custom decor, or helping orchestrate your music, I adore collaborating with you to make every detail meaningful for you and your loved ones.
Where you call home: Lakeland, Florida
Things you’d write home to Momma about: Being a Blue Ribbon Vendor is such a privilege! Being featured on a variety of other wedding blogs/magazines is also a tremendous joy- but shh, don’t tell: SW is my favorite!
Location/coverage: Florida, but I love to travel!
Favorite thing about weddings in the South? The coziness that always seeps in.
Favorite part of a wedding day? The first dance, hands down. The bride and groom have said their sweet & solemn vows, and are walking into a room created by months of forethought with their closest friends and family. They now have their own private moment to pause and revel in what just took place. Nothing compares to observing those quiet whispers on the dance floor.
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? Focus on the reason for the wedding: the celebration of marriage! When your decision-making skills start to wane, take a deep breath and daydream for a bit. While you relish in the big picture, I’ll be managing your details!
Dream travel destination? New Zealand
Favorite Southern city? The oh-so-charming Savannah.

Pottery Barn or Anthropologie? Anthropologie.
