When Dave and I saw the pictures from his proposal, my favorite thing about them was being able to see the exact reactions, expressions, and details that we had already forgotten about in all of the excitement (I SWORE the couch in the room where Dave proposed was green–it was coral and white. Ha!). We absolutely love seeing your proposal pictures (send yours to me at [email protected] if you want to appear in our next Engaged Reader Round-Up!), but there is also something so incredibly special about a proposal video, where every word and movement is captured forever, to be re-lived again and again. When Philip James Films shared this beautiful proposal at Wrightsville Beach with us, we just knew y’all would love it as much as we did!

I can’t think of a better way to end the week than with these moments that You and I Pictures captured at Ciara and Christian’s wedding. Y’all, these two are just crazy in love, and it is the sweetest thing to see! Ciara recalls their “first touch” as her favorite moment from the day, and it’s my favorite moment from the video, too. Grab a tissue (you’ll need it!) and enjoy!

How did y’all meet? Tell us your love story! Christian and I met during our senior year of high school. We both attended Student Venture, a youth group at our high school, and since we were both leaders, we spent a lot of time together. Christian asked me to homecoming, and when when we realized we had feelings for each other, he asked me out on a date! At the end of our date, he asked me to be his girlfriend. He proposed on our three-year anniversary at the same place where he had asked me out.
What are three words you would use to describe your wedding? Romantic, chic, simple
What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? Our wedding was in a barn that had been built as a wedding venue for the owners’ daughter, and they have been renting it out ever since! They also own horses, goats, and pigs.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Our first touch. Before the ceremony, instead of having a first look, we had a first touch so we could talk and pray together before the ceremony. It was the moment when everything became real. My nerves calmed as soon as I felt his hand. I will never forget that moment and the feelings that came with it.

First looks are not for everyone (we love tradition!), but one of the benefits of them is that a bride and groom can say exactly what’s on their mind when they see each other for the first time. Especially if a videographer will be on hand, like Hampton Road Studios was at Lauren and Josh’s first look, having the sweet, honest words spoken in that moment captured forever is priceless! Please enjoy this beautiful video, and be sure to watch all the way to the end!

From the bride:

In the South, family and friends are the most important people to us. We were surrounded by those we loved all day on our wedding day, and my grandfather officiated our unity ceremony. The most memorable moment of our wedding day was the first time we saw each other. I was reluctant to do a first look because I wanted Josh to see me for the first time as I walked down the aisle, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world now. I had pre-wedding jitters, and seeing Josh gave me such a sense of calm and peace. It was perfect.

Videographer: Hampton Road Studios / Photographer: SheHeWe Photography / Venue: Private estate / Planner: Vanessa Pitts / Catering & Cakes: Vintage Cakes & Catering / DJ: Spangler Entertainment / Hair & Makeup: Parlour 3 / Florist: Jan Giordano / Vocalist: Mackenzie Wasner / Musicians: Chuck Callahan, Rose Rodgers, Clint Hutchinson, Ben Johnson
