In honor of Father’s Day coming up this weekend, we thought it was the perfect time to share today’s video by The Film Poets. It features one of the sweetest father-of-the-bride toasts we’ve ever heard, and is a beautiful reminder that for as long as a bride has been dreaming about her big day, there are often other people who have been thinking about it for much longer. Enjoy!

How did y’all meet? Tell us your love story! We grew up in the same small town and met during our awkward junior high years. We dated in high school, but went our separate ways in college to meet new people and explore life on our own. After about five years apart, we were both home over Christmas break and got together to play tennis one afternoon. After that day, we knew instantly why things had never worked out with anyone else. Our laughing was effortless, we never stopped smiling, and everything simply felt right. We visited each other in our college towns for about one year, then both decided to move back to the small town we had fallen in love in. We got married, bought a beautiful home, and have a furry, four-legged son named Bruce. Life could not be better!
What are three words you would use to describe your wedding? We could not seem to come up with just three words to describe our wedding, so we asked friends and family to help us! The top three words were genuine, joyous, and beautiful.
Did you do a first look? We didn’t see each other on our wedding day until I walked down the aisle. We stood on opposite sides of a brick wall at the entrance of the historic downtown Laurel Little Theatre (right next door to our church) an hour before the wedding to say hello for the first time that day and talk a little bit about how we were feeling. Just holding hands and hearing “I love you” was the best feeling in the world, knowing that soon, we would look eye-to-eye and become husband and wife.

Incredibly moving, I cried the whole way through. What a blessed daughter!

Mary Beth! Gets me every. dang. time. Mike Weber (and the Film Poets!) deserves an award for this.
