It’s no secret that we love J.Crew around here. From their perfectly tailored chambray shirts to Emily’s and my shared favorite tennis shoes, their classic style is a go-to for staple pieces.

As you can imagine, we were thrilled when they turned their sartorial eye to weddings, and have oohed and ahhed over their casual and affordable collection for years. Several of us have even worn their bridesmaid dresses when we’ve stood up beside our friends, as we know SO many of you have, too. We were sad to hear that J.Crew is discontinuing their wedding line soon, but the silver lining is that there are fantastic savings to be had on their gorgeous pieces while they last. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite pieces here, and if you scurry right along, there is an extra 30% off sale with the code FESTIVE!

V neck gown | Long sleeve gown | Earrings | Flower girl dress with bow | Pleated flower girl dress | Long lace gown | Chiffon gown | Watercolor silk dress | Cap sleeve lace dress | Embellished grosgrain sash

Happy shopping, friends! Anyone want to reminisce together about a great J.Crew wedding moment they’ve been a part of? :)

Every year, we do our best to fill our annual print edition with advice and tips that will help you not only plan your wedding, but also (more importantly), help you and your fiancé prepare for marriage. We ask every couple we feature how they go about preparing for life after the big day, and were so happy to include many of their answers in V8. Please enjoy their words of wisdom every Sunday here on Southern Weddings!

Alex Michele

“Tim and I did five months of premarital counseling with our pastor prior to the wedding. We really felt this helped us prepare for marriage and understand each other a lot better. It became a stress-free time during the week when we could lay aside all planning and focus on ourselves and why we were getting married in the first place. Our relationship and love for each other is so much more important than the details of one day.”

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!! Magazines are popping up (early) everywhere, we’re nailing down final V9 Launch Party details and we’re already looking forward to another one of our favorite annual holiday traditions: Gingerbread Barns. While I have a strict no Christmas music rule until after we’ve eaten Thanksgiving dinner, I’m absolutely delighted to announce that we’ll be back at the Carolina Inn for our sixth annual Gingerbread Barn Building Event on December 8!

We’ll be pulling out our favorite holiday aprons and reindeer antlers for a night of gingerbread barn building fun at the lovely Carolina Inn. Please RSVP if you’re planning to join us, so we know how many graham crackers to purchase and how much frosting to secure! Everyone is invited, and most attendees choose to work in groups, so grab your best gals, your sweet mama, or your favorite fella! (Just make sure everyone in your group purchases a ticket individually!)

Not familiar with this SW holiday tradition? Take a peek at a few past recaps for some barn building inspiration: 2013, 2014, 2015. For the last few years, many people have come armed with building plans and extra supply reinforcements–we love the enthusiasm!

We hope to see you there on December 8 – can’t wait to squeeze some of our local friends!
