When we asked on Instagram what y’all are most looking forward to about summer, the answers ranged quite a bit–you have everything from road trips to summer weddings to backyard cookouts on your calendars! One common thread? You’re looking forward to spending time with people you love…and when we think about what we’re most excited about, that’s exactly what we would say, too. I’m not sure if it’s the weather or the memories of childhood summers spent with friends or what, but something about this season invites us deeper into our communities and makes us want to invest in our relationships in a fresh, new way. And that’s where our theme for the next few weeks comes in!

If you follow our sister brand, the Lara Casey Shop, you may remember Fruitful Summer–a series all about deepening existing friendships and making new friends–from last year. This year, Southern Weddings is joining the Fruitful Summer party with our own spin on the theme! In our newsletter over the next few weeks, we’ll be chatting specifically about one of the MOST important relationships in your life: your relationship with your significant other. Whether you’re dating, engaged, a newlywed, or you’ve been married awhile, we have something in store for you that we hope will speak right to your heart, and encourage you to make the most of the season you’re currently sharing with the one you love.

Sign up for our newsletter here to receive an exclusive video we created to give you more details about what’s to come in Fruitful Summer! You’ll also gain access to recipes for four fruity takes on classic Southern sweet tea that we created to accompany each week of the series. Along with plenty of tips and ideas for your relationship, get ready for lots of fruit puns :)

Today’s Sweet Tea Sunday comes from a couple whose faces are surely very familiar to y’all–they graced the cover of our sixth issue! Since then, we have loved getting to know Christina and Blair–from the “Advice from a Southern Groom” article Blair wrote for V7, to their adorable Southern Newlywed feature, and now, we’re excited to be working on a shoot with Christina for V8! Christina graciously shared her favorite thing about marriage with us, and we loved hearing what she chose.

Before Blair and I got married, someone told me we should always say “I love you” every night, but saying that in person is truly a special treat. Blair and I have always had a long-distance relationship, from dating through our engagement, and we didn’t move in together until the week after our wedding. For me, that was in a brand new state! Having offices in two different states keeps our relationship at a distance sometimes, and it makes us cherish the time we have under one roof.

To all of our vendor friends who are husband and wife teams, today’s Sweet Tea Sunday is for you! Lindsey and John Bamber are photographers (and Blue Ribbon Vendors!) based in Tennessee, and when we asked them what their favorite thing about marriage is for V7, they shared the following sweet words with us. We hope it is an encouragement to the many other couples who have the opportunity to work together on weddings–what a sweet gift that is!

Mike Larson

Working together every day is a blessing, but it comes with its own challenges. We love being able to look over at the desk next to ours and know that we are partners in every sense of the word. In our relationship, we have an amazing chance to encourage each other to grow, not only as people, but as artists. At each wedding, we always steal a glance at one another during the ceremony. It might be subtle, but there’s always that “Thinking of you” or “I remember our vows” moment that we share as we witness the covenant of another couple. We have been married and photographing weddings together for 12 years now, and we have both changed so much. For many couples, that is scary, but for us, we try to step back and allow God to mold us into the people He created us to be. We also love being able to share the parenting responsibilities of our children. We purposely moved our office back into our home to create more time with our little ones. It was a unique opportunity and we feel so blessed.
