Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

Hi there, friends, and happy Friday! As usual, we’ve tried our hardest to round up the loveliest and most Southern bits of wedding inspiration for you. If you missed anything on the blog this week, now’s the time to catch up!

We celebrated Memorial Day with a bright and summery inspiration shoot and were filled with gratitude for all the men and women who have served and are serving our country.

Inspired by Megan + Steven’s wedding on the blog this week, we showed you how to create your own biscuit bar! Honeys, jams, jellies and more abounded in this post as we rounded up our favorite details.

Emily came across two Southern Spottings this week, and both from the same wedding! The first was a magnolia ceremony arch. We love how the big, bold leaves provide a wonderful frame for a ceremony. We’re also crazy for their rambunctious ring(ing) bearer.

We wrapped up the month of May with our Monthly Round-Up! Take a look at our picks for favorite dress, cake, photo and more here!

Sierra reintroduced us to Kristen + Kincaid’s bright Western-themed bash in this week’s featured Real Weddings Gallery.

A look at our beautiful weddings from this week:

Jenn + Barret tied the knot with vintage rustic style (and the prettiest wildflowers)! Check out their wedding here and here.

Megan + Steven had a pink and blue wedding with a biscuit bar we’ve been dying to recreate! See it here and here.

Some fun announcements:

“Don’t Tell the Bride,” a wedding show for the Oprah Winfrey Network, is casting couples! The show gives $25,000 to eight cash-strapped couples to create the wedding of their dreams. The only catch? The bride and groom can’t see each other for three weeks before the nuptials, and the groom has to plan the whole wedding in secret (with NO input from his bride). For more information or to recommend an engaged couple for the show, email Rebecca at [email protected] with your name, age, number, city/state, photo of the couple, and brief description of why you’d be ideal for the show.

Want to win a wedding in Miami? Yes, I would, too. The Knot is partnering up with The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau for a “Marry Me in Miami” contest! If you’re interested, go to www.marrymeinmiami.com to play an online game that tests your knowledge of Miami landmarks. Five lucky couples who play will randomly be chosen to compete in an Amazing Race-style challenge including a cake-eating contest and a flower arranging race. This is serious, y’all. Head to the contest website for more details!

Newlywish, the online wedding registry is teaming up with Marcy Blum and Send The Trend to create a collection of jewelry and accessories for brides and bridesmaids’ gifts. Take a look at the collection on Newlywish!

We’re so excited for this announcement: The Paloma’s Nest flagship store is opening in Austin, Texas on June 15! We’ve featured Paloma’s Nest in print and their ring bearer bowls even made an appearance in Katharine + Kyle’s wedding. Check out their website for more details.

One more fun opportunity: The Brooklyn Arts Center is having a wedding show on August 7 in Wilmington, NC. Tons of wedding vendors will be there, including designers, photographers, bakeries and boutiques. Head to the BAC wedding showcase site for more information and for a link to buy tickets. The first 50 brides to purchase a ticket will receive a swag bag with local goodies and a chance to win a Romantic Wilmington Weekend Getaway! Additionally, a portion of the sales will go to the Wish Upon A Wedding charity.

And don’t forget! Our iPad giveaway is still going on, and the SW Yard Sale is next week! Email Nicole to RSVP!

Have a great weekend, y’all! Let us know if you and your sweetie have exciting plans!

Farren + Kevin’s Airlie Gardens celebration is everything a real Southern wedding should be: sweet, romantic and effortlessly elegant. The ultra-feminine flowers, styled by Salt Harbor Designs, are perfect for the couple’s outdoor garden party, and Emily + I actually may be more in love with their clean wooden tablescape now than we were last year. To participate in the evening’s lawn games (what’s more Southern than cornhold and croquet?), the bride swapped her dramatic cathedral-length veil for a flirty hairpiece from Lo Boheme. Hi Christie! I’m pretty sure the boat is a rental from Farren’s wedding designer, Jennifer at Salt Harbor Designs. I’d get in touch with her to see about renting it for your big day!

V3 Feature :: Sweet Love

by in Inspirations, Main on

This shoot was the first we’d ever featured in print that was not organized and executed in house. That was a little scary for us! We take the cohesiveness of our print editions extremely seriously, and not having control over every little decision in the days leading up to and at the shoot was a new experience.

BUT, we shouldn’t have worried. “Sweet Love” was the very, very beautiful result of a collaboration between Nancy Park of So Happi Together and fab photographer Amelia Lyon. They brought together a ridiculously awesome team of vendors, and, in the end, produced a shoot was turned out to be one of our favorite features in V3. You will NOT want to miss the gallery for this one, folks — there was so much goodness we didn’t have room to share in print! Click here to see it all!

The talented vendors involved:

Photography: Amelia Lyon // Event Design and Coordination: Nancy Park, So Happi Together // Event Design and Styling: Melissa Huber, The Loveliest Day // Florals: Megan Gray, Honey and Poppies // Baked Goods: Melody Brandon, My Sweet and Saucy Shop // Stationery and Paper Goods: MaeMae Paperie // Bride’s Wardrobe: Vivian Lee, Tomato Weddings // Hair and Makeup: Nicole DeAnne // Furniture and Rentals: Jeni Maus, Found Vintage Rentals // Tabletop Rentals: Classic Party Rentals // Flower Girl’s Wardrobe: The Ruby Closet // Groom’s Suit: H&M // Groom’s Shirt: Hugo Boss // Groom’s Tie: Burberry // Dog and Horse Handler: BGL Danes Animal Acting

Thank you SO much for the feature and your kind words. I had no idea until now that we were the first shoot you featured that was not an in-house production and that makes me feel even more honored and blessed than I already am! Thank you a million times over for believing in our work. xoxo!
