Southern Weddings

{Laura Negri Photography} has done it again. (Southern Wedding of the Week two weeks in a row!) This time Laura and Jenica captured the very classic and elegant New Orleans wedding of Erin + Taylor.  The two met a few weeks before college at a gathering for New Orleans-based freshmen heading to the University of Georgia. After arriving on campus, the two began to spend time together and eventually began date.  The two have been together ever since.  How fun!  The couple was married at {The Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church}.  Erin wore a beautiful {Lazaro} dress from {Town and Country Bridal in New Orleans} with the bridesmaids in {Jenny Yoo} from {Bella Bridesmaid in Atlanta}.  Make sure to read Erin + Taylor’s sweet interview and check back for post number two to hear about the fabulous reception.

How did the two of you meet? We met in July 2001 at a reception held in New Orleans for students from Louisiana that were going to be freshmen at The University of Georgia that fall. We ended up talking for most of the evening. Within the first couple of days after we arrived in Athens, we ran into each other on campus and later that week we went out on our first date. We dated all throughout our years at UGA. After we graduated Taylor moved back to New Orleans to attend law school and I worked in Atlanta for about 2 years. We finally ended up in the same city again when I moved to New Orleans earlier this year.
Describe the proposal: We got engaged in New Orleans while I was visiting Taylor for a long weekend. We had plans to go to dinner that Friday night in the French Quarter, but I had no idea all the plans Taylor had for us. He arranged a very relaxing and special day for me including a trip to the spa. We went to dinner that night at {Restaurant August}, a very romantic restaurant in New Orleans and one of our favorites. After dinner we took a walk along the riverfront and settled on a bench at the Moonwalk to enjoy what was left of the sunset. We were pleasantly entertained by a single street performer playing many familiar songs on his saxophone in the background. When Taylor felt like the moment was right, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him…I immediately YES!
What attracted me to my husband was: His wonderful smile! He is a wonderful and caring guy who can always make me smile and laugh.
What attracted me to my wife was: Her beautiful and sweet smile.
A date we went on that we’ll always remember: We went to Charleston, South Carolina our freshman year in college for Taylor’s fraternity’s formal. We were having the best time together just wandering around the waterfront. We asked a gentleman standing close by to take a picture of us. He took the picture and before handing us our camera he said, “You two must be in love.” I don’t think either of us stopped smiling after he said that. It was such a sweet and memorable moment and we definitely knew at that point we had something special!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? I think seeing each other for the first time as I walked down the aisle. It was just such a surreal and happy moment!

More to come from this fabulous New Orleans couple!

We can’t get enough of this wedding!!! It is truly a showcase of individuality and we wish every bride a little daring spirit on her big day…  tell your story, be uniquely you and don’t be afraid of wearing what you LOVE!  Nina + Jason decided they wanted their wedding photos to be like a fashion shoot and contacted their personal friends, the fabulous {Mi Belle Inc.} to take these stellar photos. Nina rocks it out in two dresses. The blue being created by {Betsey Johnson} and the cream by {Ingma, Melero}. Nina completed the look with wedge heels by {Lanvin}. This wedding was held at Jason’s childhood home and all wedding coordination was done by Nina. Yay! Finally a wedding that doesn’t make me feel slightly ill! Most of these sites are full of pics of weddings with little originality and lots of BLING $$! It’s so nice that to get a sense of what the coupe is like!
