At 3pm on the dot yesterday, the FedEx man pulled up and four excited girls ran out to meet him.  The magazine had arrived!  We filmed the whole thing, but are too giddy and embarrassed to post it.  I think the FedEx guy felt like a superstar, as we basically tried to climb in his truck.  Needless to say, we love it!  The cover is unreal.  It’s so beautiful we were all officially distracted from work after its arrival.  Today at 5:30pm EST, the cover (and the incredible photographer behind it) will be revealed here on the blog.  If you’re in Atlanta tonight, you’ll get to see it in person!

We’re all road-tripping to Hotlanta early this morning for our launch party tonight at Bridal Bar.  We hope you’ll join us to celebrate an exciting year and the release of this second issue.  I’m pretty excited that we’ll all have our men in tow – Emily‘s John, Katharine‘s Kyle and Ari. (Whitney is bringing her awesome mom!)  And I, naturally, have a few tricks up my sleeve for the party.  Y’all know I love surprises.

If you haven’t RSVP’d yet, do so here.  And if you don’t have your party dress yet, get on it!

CONTEST: Guess which one of us (Lara, Katharine, Whitney, Emily) is wearing each of the dresses above to the party tonight and win a copy of the magazine, a box of Moonpies, and a copy of the hilarious book, Butter My Butt and Call Me a Biscuit.  Contest ends today at 5:30pm EST.

See y’all tonight!

Let the Countdown Begin!

by in News on

…till Southern Weddings hits newsstands!  It’ll take a couple weeks to get all the copies out and on stands from distribution warehouses, so be patient, friends.  We’ll have tons of copies (literally: 3 tons, actually) available online this time, too, just in case you can’t find it in your local store.

A few FAQ’s:  Yes, SW is nationally distributed (concentrated in the Southeastern US), but we won’t know the exact stores until the copies arrive and are entered into each store’s computer system.  You’d think there would be some magical list we could get from our distribution agent, but such a thing doesn’t exist.  SO, when you find it next week, let us know where so we can spread the word!

We do know we’ll be in most Walmarts (a new one for us this issue! Yay!), Target, Barnes and Noble, Borders, Piggly Wiggly (YES!!!), Tom Thumb, Food Lion, Books-A-Million, Army & Air Force, Bi-Lo, Brookshire Grocery, Bruno’s Supermarket, Fiesta Markets, Food Lion, Gerlands Food Fair, Harris Teeter Supermarkets, Homeland Supermarkets, Lowes Marketplace, News Center, Niemann Foods, Publix, Rice Food Market, Rouse’s Supermarket, Safeway Rand-Thumb, Super S Foods, Sweet Bay/Kash N Karry, Target, United Supermarkets and Winn Dixie as well as lots of bridal salons.

We’ll keep you posted with all the details as they roll in!  YEEHAW!!  Who’s excited!?

Just letting people know if they are looking for one :) It looks awesome and LARA, I love the pages of the photos that Jory Cordy took of Dan and I!!! The magazine is awesome!!! THUMBS UP!

  8. avatar Emily @ Southern Weddings reply

Lauren! We’re so glad you were able to find a copy! And you look GORGEOUS in the spread!

  9. avatar Ashley E reply

My mom just told me that she got the very last copy that was on the shelf at the Books-A-Million in New Port Richey! And she had to dig for it because someone hid it behind some other wedding mags. ;]

  10. avatar clair reply

Any suggestions where I can find this cool magazine in the Hallandale Beach, FL area?

  11. avatar Ashley E reply

Hi…a little update about my copy of SW. The copy that my mom got me wasn’t the current issue it was the last issue of the sold out PREMIERE ISSUE!!! And I am not complaining because I’ve wanted that one! But I think I’m going to order the new issue because I can’t wait for it to come to my neck of the woods here in FL (most people don’t even know we exist)!!!

  12. avatar Tirzah reply

Got this issue on a plane ride from Atlanta to Florida the day after your party. Haven’t put it down since. I’m a true southern girl at heart but am stuck in Los Angeles. Just thought I’d let you know you’re doing business and inspiring from across the country. :)

Oh y’all, I love this wedding so much!  Such a great Epic Rerun from Amelia and Justin Lyon!

This wedding is on the top of my favorites list this year.  Erin + Jeremiah’s day is the essence of family, togetherness, simplicity, joy, love… I could go on and on.  This story doesn’t needs words to be told.  The incredible images from Amelia Lyon Photography speak volumes!  Planning by Lisa Kennedy at Landmark Events, bridal make-up and hair by Nicole DeAnne Bridal Hair & Makeup (be sure to check out Nicole’s Blog post on Erin).

From Amelia: August 8th of 2008 was an awesome day for us. We were fortunate enough to be booked by Erin and Jeremiah, who had contacted us just weeks before this wonderful day. I knew there was a good reason why we hadn’t already booked that day yet and then these two wonderful people came along! 8.8.08 was unlike any other wedding, maybe because it wasn’t actually a wedding, Erin and Jeremiah decided to go the nontraditional way and exchange vows. They wanted 8.8.08 to remain special to them as it was the day that they committed and celebrated their love together with all of their closest family and friends. Erin let her boys plan part of the night just for the other kid-friends. The details included character drawings, air brush body art, blow-up balloons, and a photo booth! I loved that this party was kid friendly! At the end of the night, the guests were then invited to grab a handful of rose petals and throw them into the ocean as they made a wishful hope for the future.

For more, visit Amelia’s {Blog}. Thank you so much, Amelia, for sharing these moving images with us.  And thank you Erin + Jeremiah, for reminding us what is so special about love and family!
