I’m jealous.
Recently, the wonderful Katie Brown joined the Southern Weddings team as our very own Relationship Expert, imparting words of wisdom through downright hilarious stories. Our lovely Emily has already made a name for herself as the Etiquette Expert, tackling tough issues like guest lists and ugly bridesmaid dresses like a champ.
I want a turn! I want to be an Expert, too!
So began the brainstorming. What could I be an expert on? There are few things in life that I love more than weddings. Those few things are (in no particular order): pop culture, the University of North Carolina, humor, skiing, building relationships, and Starbucks coffee. How could I somehow turn my list into my dream of being an expert in something… anything?
Then, the revelation! I’d combine my interests to become a Super Pop Culture Expert Who Specializes In Adding Random Information About Life As A College Student At UNC. It would look great on a business card.
This revelation was a grand moment. Touching, really.
Here’s the idea: I’ve always thought it would be ridiculously fun to plan a celebrity’s wedding. I’m talking over-the-top weddings—no budget, tons of fun details, mind-blowing reception. Since the celebs haven’t been knocking down my door lately, I figured I’d just go ahead and do the planning, minus their asking.
Let’s give it a whirl.

If you’re anything like me, you were glued to the television screen soaking up every minute of the Olympic coverage. No doubt you saw the amazing snowboarding stunts performed by everyone’s favorite redhead, Shaun White.
Ok, I have NO IDEA whether Shaun has any plans of getting married in the near future, but if he did, he’d have to have a pretty awesome wedding. Here’s what I envision:
Location: Vancouver, BC. The site of the 2010 Winter Olympics would be a perfect backdrop for Mr. White’s wedding.
Menu: Every single item is tomato based in honor of the Flying Tomato.
Fried Green Tomatoes, Marinated Cherry Tomato Salad, Penne with Asparagus and Cherry Tomatoes as the main course, and Green Tomato Cake with Brown Butter Icing for dessert. Yum.
Color Scheme: Black, white, and red
Fun details: The groomsmen (who, no doubt, will all be professional skateboarders) will fly down the halfpipe in suits (or maybe those cool graffitti jeans the Olympic snowboarders wore). The bridesmaids will arrive via snowmobile. And the ceremony will be held at the end of the halfpipe. Of course.
