Let the Countdown Begin!

by in News on

…till Southern Weddings hits newsstands!  It’ll take a couple weeks to get all the copies out and on stands from distribution warehouses, so be patient, friends.  We’ll have tons of copies (literally: 3 tons, actually) available online this time, too, just in case you can’t find it in your local store.

A few FAQ’s:  Yes, SW is nationally distributed (concentrated in the Southeastern US), but we won’t know the exact stores until the copies arrive and are entered into each store’s computer system.  You’d think there would be some magical list we could get from our distribution agent, but such a thing doesn’t exist.  SO, when you find it next week, let us know where so we can spread the word!

We do know we’ll be in most Walmarts (a new one for us this issue! Yay!), Target, Barnes and Noble, Borders, Piggly Wiggly (YES!!!), Tom Thumb, Food Lion, Books-A-Million, Army & Air Force, Bi-Lo, Brookshire Grocery, Bruno’s Supermarket, Fiesta Markets, Food Lion, Gerlands Food Fair, Harris Teeter Supermarkets, Homeland Supermarkets, Lowes Marketplace, News Center, Niemann Foods, Publix, Rice Food Market, Rouse’s Supermarket, Safeway Rand-Thumb, Super S Foods, Sweet Bay/Kash N Karry, Target, United Supermarkets and Winn Dixie as well as lots of bridal salons.

We’ll keep you posted with all the details as they roll in!  YEEHAW!!  Who’s excited!?

Just letting people know if they are looking for one :) It looks awesome and LARA, I love the pages of the photos that Jory Cordy took of Dan and I!!! The magazine is awesome!!! THUMBS UP!

  8. avatar Emily @ Southern Weddings reply

Lauren! We’re so glad you were able to find a copy! And you look GORGEOUS in the spread!

  9. avatar Ashley E reply

My mom just told me that she got the very last copy that was on the shelf at the Books-A-Million in New Port Richey! And she had to dig for it because someone hid it behind some other wedding mags. ;]

  10. avatar clair reply

Any suggestions where I can find this cool magazine in the Hallandale Beach, FL area?

  11. avatar Ashley E reply

Hi…a little update about my copy of SW. The copy that my mom got me wasn’t the current issue it was the last issue of the sold out PREMIERE ISSUE!!! And I am not complaining because I’ve wanted that one! But I think I’m going to order the new issue because I can’t wait for it to come to my neck of the woods here in FL (most people don’t even know we exist)!!!

  12. avatar Tirzah reply

Got this issue on a plane ride from Atlanta to Florida the day after your party. Haven’t put it down since. I’m a true southern girl at heart but am stuck in Los Angeles. Just thought I’d let you know you’re doing business and inspiring from across the country. :)

Last week, we asked you to share your favorite Southern gift basket ideas for a secret project we have been working on, and today we want to share the finished product!  Huge thanks to all the amazing Southern companies who sent swag for the Mammoth Men gift bags that are waiting in New Orleans as we speak for the guys to pick up.  (I have to admit: getting sweet treats in the mail from Paula Deen and Moonpies was definitely one of the highlights of our year, y’all!)  Here’s a little sneak peek of what the Mammoth Men will find from the SW girls:

Our favorite items: custom XOELLE bowties made especially for the Mammoth Men (and coincidentally made in my home town of Pensacola), Paula Deen’s Butt Massage (think brisket, not behind), Kato’s Down South Hot Sauce for a little kick, LEGEND Deep South Hot and Spicy Barbecue Sauce, Cotton Pickin’ goat’s milk soap from Country Scents (although we’re not sure if the Mammoth Men get a chance to shower on these trips), Nascar and cammo t-shirts, Moonshine Cordials from Carolina Cupboard (“Liquid-Filled Chocolates With a Tar Heel Tang”), some mammoth Moonpies, a few ridiculously funny books (including Butter My Butt and Call Me a Biscuit, The Redneck Dictionary, How To Speak Southern, The Deer Burger Cookbook), and a whole slew of fun surprises from our neighborhood Southern Mecca, Southern Season.

Pralines, peanuts and popping corn, oh my!

CONTEST: A trip to the Dirty South wouldn’t be complete without a Dirty South nickname.  Our craft diva, Emily, tagged each bag with these fun name tags.  My personal favorite is Michael Norwood’s new Southern name, “Michael Nor Bob”.  (SW Tip: to make any name Southern, just add “Bob” to the end!)  Here’s your chance to win your very own Mammoth Men Dirty South Swag Bag!  Just leave a comment here with a NEW “Dirty South” nickname for one of the guys (or all of them).  The best new name/s win!  Contest ends Friday at midnight.  Have fun y’all!

Thanks again to our ultra-generous sponsors.  That Mammoth box weighed over 50lbs!  Enjoy the Southern swag, gentlemen!

P.S. stay tuned to my Tweets all this week for daily Twitter-only giveaways!

Looks great – but time to bone up on the NASCAR, ladies ;-) The original #20, Tony Stewart, is from IN and the new #20, Joey Logano, is from CT… but NASCAR itself, is a glorious *southern* pastime! (Of course, I could be wrong, the bright orange 20 may not be Home Depot NASCAR swag, but it sure looks like it!)

  21. avatar Southern Weddings reply

Haha! The NASCAR T’s came straight from a Georgia gas station from Lara and Emily’s recent road trip, so we’re counting them ; ) Girl, you know your NASCAR!!
