The Contest: SWS is now Southern Weddings!  In honor of our name change, we’re giving away 4 $25 iTunes gift cards to the best answers to:  Why do YOU love Southern Weddings? (either actual southern weddings or this blog/magazine) Just leave a comment here with your answer to WIN!

The Winners: SO, we loved so many of these comments that we decided to have TEN winners instead of 4!  The following people will win a $10 iTunes gift certificate

And the winners are……drum roll…… (in random order)

Amy M: Even though I’m not a "southern bride," (I’m getting married in Boston), I find the most inspiration from your blog! Southern weddings are so special because they reflect the true style of the individuals and their families – and THAT idea definitely crosses the Mason-Dixon line!

Desiree Webb: I love Southern Weddings because the south is about never forgetting where your from. Your wedding should be a reflection of the real you, not the dolled up, ready for photo’s you, but, the one that grew up bare-foot, swinging in the front yard, and laughing ’til you cried. At your wedding, you should share your "favorite things" like mom’s mac’n’cheese, apple pie, and the song that Uncle Sam sings at every reunion. Southern Weddings is like saying, "that’s where I come from…" :)

Kristin @ The Fairmount Bride: Because there is just something about the South. I can’t wait to take all our Northern friends and family, and have them see the beautiful oak trees with moss hanging from the branches, to have everyone that walks by them look them in the eye and say hello, and watch their faces as they realize everyone down there has a drawl. There is something so classic and proper about a southern wedding. And, well, lets be honest, it gives us a great reason to have a big ole’ bbq with ribs and biscuits for our rehearsal dinner!

Leanna: I love Southern Weddings because I honestly feel like a Southern Belle stuck in the Valley in California. Southern Weddings is giving me the inspiration to bring a little southern charm into my west coast ranch style wedding.

HappyAmy: I LOVE the Southern Weddings site because while I’m not from the south in any way, I’ve always loved the style of the south. I remember seeing the Ben Affleck movie "Forces of Nature" and couldn’t get that Savannah wedding out of my head! The moss, the trees, the house-love it all! You provide me with such great images of southern style and I can’t wait to incorporate your ideas into my California wedding!

Catie: I love Southern Weddings because y’all provide some wonderful inspiration and ideas for this California girl to intertwine her Mom’s heritage (Georgia Peach) and fiance’s hometowns (all over the South) into our California-based wedding.I love southern weddings to because of all that the South embodies: that opened-armed welcome home, sincere happiness of coming together, and of course the wonderful food! Congrats Southern Weddings!

Abby Milz (Bride from our Southern Wedding of the Week 2 weeks ago!):  Because everything is better in the South! We know how to throw a party down south. A good celebration is all about the details and this is the best wedding blog to find inspiration. You search for amazing photographers that shoot amazing weddings which result in your amazing inspiration boards!

Emily:  I love southern weddings (lowercase lowercase) because to me, they epitomize exactly what a wedding should be: a gracious, welcoming celebration of all the people you love — and love itself! Add in great food, great music, and absolutely stunning built-in decor (hello gigantic old trees and stately mansions!) and you’ve got a winning combination. I love Southern Weddings (uppercase uppercase!) because of the absolutely beautiful and original content you publish every day. Your photos are gasp-inducing and always offer stylish wedding inspiration – southern or otherwise. Congratulations on your new name and best of luck from here on out!

KF: Because I prefer red clay to brown dirt, because I wear my Sunday’s best on Sundays AND Saturdays in the Fall (Go Dawgs!), because I understand the importance of William Faulkner yet appreciate the 24-hour availability of Waffle House, because I know this to be true: summer evenings in the South are sweet but even sweeter with mint juleps, while magnolias are beautiful there is nothing like honeysuckles, and the South will always welcome you home! Southern Weddings understands my point-of-view and they represent it. Simple, Stylish, and Strong…Southern Weddings.

Kelle: When you start with Southern Weddings, you end up with ceremony that celebrates your roots. This magazine brings every Southern gal’s dream wedding to life with hypnotizing photo montages and thoughtful articles. It’s just the thing to read while waiting for your sweet tea to cool.

Winners:  Email me [lara at swsmag dot com] to let me know the email address where you would like the gift card to be sent (we’re saving paper by emailing them) and you will have some new tunes in your inbox!

This has been my favorite contest so far because it showed all of us what we had always hoped for–brides from all over the country love southern weddings and no matter where they are planning their weddings, they want to incorporate that oh-so-southern goodness into their big day!  Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to tell us what you think of southern weddings and Southern Weddings.  We are so grateful for the outpouring of support and kind words.  Have a fabulous week filled with sweet tea, nights on the front porch with family, and–no matter where you are–southern warmth in your heart~   Happy planning!

I love the inspiration boards from Elizabeth Anne Designs here last week that showed so many ways to design a southern wedding. There is something charming and beautiful about southern weddings. I am planning my wedding in Montgomery, AL next spring and read your blog every day for inspiration. I love Southern Weddings!

Because I love red velvet cake and shrimp and grits at a wedding! Is there really anything better than that?

  12. avatar Liene at Blue Orchid Designs reply

Congrats! I was wondering if this was in store for you. I love your mag because you ladies have actually put something together that works well for brides. Many fail at this, but you’ve raised the bar.

  13. avatar papercupp reply

This name is a very good choice – Southern Weddings – clean and simple. When my client got married she did it in Southern Comfort Style but we celebrated her wedding in Southern Comfort. the same way your magazine is about Southern Wedding Style – you celebrate Southern Weddings. The word style was redundant – I like this a lot! Great change!!! ; )

  14. avatar millie holloman reply

I love Southern Weddings because they always seem to find the coolest wedding to feature with rockin’ details and personality. They not only feature, they give us a peak into the wedding day by giving us a story of how everything unfolded. How can you not love Southern Weddings?!

  15. avatar Michele reply

All the yummy photos. And I feel like your personality comes out in your writing. You sound nice and fun and that makes reading your blog enjoyable :) Congrats!

I love Southern Magazine because I get a real feel for the southern taste of weddings. Every little detail is shown in such beauty and depth. It is one of my favorite website that I look to for inspirations. The magazine really inspired me to work hard to pursue my dreams and that one day, Southern Weddings would show- case my work of arts.

SW News/Must-Clicks:

  • Something blue…  The Blue Angels fly this weekend on Pensacola Beach.  Every year, thousands of Southerners flock to the beaches for “Blues, barbecue and boating.”  A huge thank you to our military here and those who are fighting for us overseas.  If you get the opportunity this weekend, say “thank you” to the men and women who serve our country.  Go Blues!  Photo at left by one of our fav photographers, Rick Schamberger, of {East Hill Photo}

I’m off to Atlanta this weekend for a very special family event.  More on that to come.  (Any ATL photographers available to shoot three generations of Casey/Austin women on Sunday morning?)  Have a great weekend!

That’s known that cash makes people disembarrass. But how to act if somebody doesn’t have cash? The one way only is to try to get the mortgage loans and just short term loan.
