DIY with Nicole: Envelope Liners

by in Main on

If you’ve got a small (or large) love affair with paper like Emily and I do, then you just might also love this project. I refrained from paper shopping this time around because I knew I would get into some trouble as I tried to find just one sheet to line my envelopes with. Admittedly, paper shopping is the best part of this project. Be warned that you may spend more time picking your color or pattern than actually making these easy envelope liners.

I love how small details like envelope liners can pull the theme of a wedding together. Plus, opening an envelope with a pretty liner inside just makes me plain happy.

Whether you’re trying to spruce up or eliminate the translucence of your white invitation envelopes, making your own invitations, or just wanting to add a pop of color to save the dates, bridal party invites, or the like, envelope liners are the way to go.

What you’ll need:
-Envelopes
-Glue stick
-Scissors
-Cardstock (or something similar to make a template)
-Paper (There are a ton of options here. You can use light weight scrapbooking paper, sheets from specialty stores like Paper Source, and even gift wrap or wallpaper)

How you do it:

Let me know how this project goes for you! And of course, if you have any ideas or things you would like to see done, email me at [email protected].

Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

Howdy ladies (and gents, if you’re also reading)! We’re wrapping up yet another fabulous week at Southern Weddings and preparing for a weekend of sweet tea-drinking and relaxing…maybe also with a grilled cheese sandwich.

BUT FIRST! We have some very exciting news to share! You may have heard on Twitter earlier in the week, but we’re making the official SW announcement here: Lara is pregnant! The Biscuit, as we’ve officially dubbed the new addition, is due in November. See all the details, plus a sweet video, here!

On with the recap! Has anyone else been craving a grilled cheese sandwich since Emily’s Southern Spotting was posted yesterday? Bonnie + Matt’s yummy food station was brilliant! Down-to-earth and delicious, as Emily says.

It doesn’t end there! Emily spotted another Southern detail this week, Cherry Blossom Portraits. While the validity of Washington, DC’s “Southernness” is still inspiring some office debate, the portraits are gorgeous! If you DC brides are worried at all, be comforted that you are technically below the Mason-Dixon line!

A fan of sparkly things? Whitney’s got you covered with a Ken + Dana Design giveaway! Each piece of jewelry is a handmade work of art. Lucky you, you have the chance to win a piece! Head to the original post to see how you can enter.

Still searching for the dress? Marissa found the best Southern bridal shops just for you! And, being the style-savvy lady she is, she even included some tips for finding the perfect gown!

We can’t forget about the wedding we featured this week! Sarah + Ryan’s barn wedding had us all craving some sugar after seeing their dessert bar. We can’t get enough of the lovely Southern details. See them here and here.

Before you take off for the weekend, check out a fundraiser for our friend, Dana. She is the author of the Broke-Ass Bride blog, which has been featured in V2 and V3! “Dishing for Dana: bad-ass bloggers cooking comforts for a cause” is a compilation of beloved comfort food recipes from our favorite bloggers from every corner of the internet. The proceeds of the fundraiser go toward helping Dana pay for medical care for her autoimmune disease. Read more details on her blog.

Have a lovely weekend, dear friends! If you’re up to something marvelous, let us know!

CONGRATULATIONS LARA! That’s so exciting! I also love the phrasing of “the biscuit” :-P I’ve definitely been craving a grilled cheese, too, but things keep getting in the way of my plans, unfortunately! Have a wonderful weekend, ladies, and congrats again!

I’m just going to go ahead and say it — Happy weekend! I know there are still a few hours left of work for some of you, but it might as well be the weekend already, right? On the blog this week, we posted a bunch of pretty weddings and features. I know you’re just dying to hear about it all, so I won’t keep you waiting.

I love tulips. Who doesn’t? But we’ve never seen a tulip boutonniere before and Emily’s Southern Spotting brought it to our attention. We love it!

We have a great giveaway this week! Whitney gushed about Brandy Pham’s jewelry and we can see why now. They’re glamorous enough to pair with your dream wedding dress, but we can also see how great they would look with a pair of jeans. Brandy Pham’s collection is mostly black and white, but we want to hear about your wedding colors for a chance to win something from her collection! Head to the original post now!

Time flies, doesn’t it? We find ourselves at the end of March. Happily, though, that means we get to do the Monthly Round-Up! Emily, Katharine and I compiled our favorite aspects of this month’s weddings. Take a look and tell us what your favorites were!

Did you miss some of our real weddings?

Take a look at Kiley + Tim’s fun blush wedding from V3 here and here.
Dana + Danny’s elegant wedding here and here.
Lindsay + Jonathan’s wedding full of lush blue hydrangeas here and here.

Want to win a pair of TOMS shoes? Tell The Green Kangaroo what you plan to do without shoes on April 5th and you will be entered in their giveaway! Post to their Facebook page, tweet on Twitter or comment on their blog what you plan to do on TOMS One Day Without Shoes. One lucky friend, follower or reader will win a pair of TOMS shoes courtesy of TGK! Check out their blog for more information.

Enjoy the weekend y’all! If you have any fun plans, tell us what they are!

I have been following the SWMag Blog for a few years now and I just want to say that I absolutely love that you feature TOMS Shoes in your shoe choices and that you did a spot on One Day! I am the campus coordinator for TOMS at the University of Georgia and I think its really cool that ya’ll are showing young women that being philanthropic on their wedding day is not only a great idea, but can also be really stylish!
