OK, you may be candied-out after Easter, but I know someone who isn’t.  I’m hacking into the blog to post this completely for Katharine.  Her two favorite things in one… rings and … uh… CANDY!

So, I’m challenging you take that leftover Easter candy and put it to good use.

1. Ingredients you’ll need: candy, a ring, a camera.  iPhone cameras will work just fine.

2. Take a pic of your ring or borrow one from a friend.  Just make sure to give it back.  Don’t blame theft on us.

3. Send us your pic by next Monday a midnight.

Pretty easy. Need a basic ring shot lesson?  Anne Ruthmann posted a great ring shot tutorial on Weddingbee that we love.

Top 5 pics are placed in the running for Best Eye Candy Shot.  You get to vote on the best one.  Best out of the 5 gets a special package full of all of Katharine‘s favorites.  She has a lot of favorites.  It may be a big box.

Have fun, y’all! Remember to… um… clean up after you’re done.  Save a peice for me!

Love these two sweet shots from Rachel at Millie Holloman Photography.  Happy Tuesday, y’all!

xo

We’ve loved Annette Thurmon since the first time we saw her in front of the camera at our Water Color shoot.  She’s gorgeous, photogenic and oh-so sweet.  But the dark-haired beauty is more than just a pretty face.  The visionary behind Chaviano Bridal Couture, Annette designs and hand-makes custom wedding gowns for the discerning bride who won’t settle for anything less than her dream dress.

The result?  Gorgeous, couture-inspired wedding treasures Annette insists will not just be worn but experienced

I love Annette’s work – and infectious personality – so much, in fact, that I commissioned her to design my veil for my own wedding this September.  (You bet I’ll be sharing pictures of this lace + tulle gem!)

In celebration of our two-year blog anniversary (a.k.a. blogaversary), Annette has agreed to give away a custom veil valued up to $225 for one lucky bride.  Want to win your very own one-of-a-kind veil?  Of course you do.  Leave a comment below describing your dream veil, and don’t leave anything out!  We want to know how long it will be, what fabric you’d use and how it will complement your dress.  The winner will get to work directly with Chaviano Bridal Couture to make their dream veil a wedding day reality.

You have until next Friday, April 9 at 11:59 p.m. to enter.  If we receive over 200 entries, I’ll even reveal the design for my veil, so start brainstorming!

I’ve been daydreaming about my veil lately, so this would be a dream come true! I want a short birdcage veil with the thicker tulle (not russian tulle) to match the tulle on my cap sleeves. I would want it to attach on the side of my hair to a lace fascinator that was simple, and would match the lace on the rest of my dress. And I would love for the veil part to pull back for the reception so I could still wear that pretty part!

  2. avatar Kelly reply

My dress is ivory, covered in lace, so it would be nice to have an ivory veil with little bits of lace along the edges. The longer the better….what could be more dramatic for a 6 o’clock church wedding?!

My Dream Veil… This is an easy one. My Dream Veil would firstly and most importantly reuse the fabric of my mother’s veil (Ivory and Lace). How amazing would it be to have something that meant so much to my mother incorporated into my own wardrobe?! Something so wonderful that even my daughter will want to reuse it! The veil itself would be elbow length with a blusher so that I can have that special moment with my father when I walk down the aisle. It is going to compliment my dress because my own dress is the Casablanca 1992 in Ivory and Champagne. The lace will compliment the bodice and the ivory will match the ivory satin and organza of my dress. Thus, my dream veil.

I only very recently started considering the possibility of wearing a veil. From the beginning, I guess the idea of wearing a veil just seemed weird to me. I don’t strap a piece of tulle to my head any other day, so why would I wrap my head in netting on my wedding day? Romantic, I know. That isn’t to say that I didn’t love all the gorgeous pictures I was seeing of other brides and their lovely veils; I just didn’t think they were for me. My thoughts on the matter were reaffirmed when I bought my dress. I really love the back of it, and I don’t want any of it covered up at any time – especially during the ceremony. I’ve always loved birdcage veils, though, even if not for myself. I knew I didn’t want to wear a veil on my wedding day, but if I did, I would pick a short, sweet, little birdcage veil. But wait! What about my bridal portraits? If there’s ever a time to wear a veil, it’s during your bridal portraits. (Or at least that’s how I see it!) And I know my mother will secretly love them that much more if I am wearing a veil. So it’s settled then. I’ll wear a classic 9" birdcage veil for my bridal portraits. I love the openness of the netting used to make these veils, and they’re just so sweet! I think it is the perfect style to complement my dress, which is a simple gown with an elegant design. I know the focus is on the front of the veil, but the back (where it is pinned to my hair) is just as important to me, and a lot of the birdcage veils I’ve seen are not to my liking in this regard. Maybe I’m being a little bit obsessive about a very small detail, but it’s important to me, and I know the perfect veil is out there somewhere. With any luck, maybe it will be made by Chaviano Bridal Couture!

What a wonderful giveaway! My gown is ivory satin with a wonderful vintage-y art-deco lace inset, and I’d love just the right veil to complement it. In my mind’s eye I see a float of ivory net, wafting to my fingertips, with gorgeous lace accents that evoke that 1930’s Hollywood glamour feel. It should complement the dress and the vintage jewelry, yet have an elegant and unique personality of its own… think Rita Hayworth glamour coupled with Katherine Hepburn sass. :-)

I haven’t purchased a veil for my wedding day because I simply haven’t found one I’ve liked for me and my dress. To design my own would be amazing. My dress is very modern; it’s a tissue taffeta, mermaid-style ivory gown with a slight sweetheart neckline. It doesn’t have a piece of lace or a single bead on it. My dream veil would be to the middle of my back. It would need to be modern and sleek to compliment my dress. I don’t know much about fabrics/designs, but it might be neat to do some sort of laser cutout(s) in the shape of a dahlia (to mimic our invitations). I’m going to wear a chunky pearl necklace and earrings so those could be incorporated.

  7. avatar Jen reply

My dream veil is cathedral length so that the ivory netting floats past the edge of my long cathedral length train. My dress is simple yet elegant, no real embellishments just ivory satin. I think the best way to compliment this would be to have small crystals scattered across the veil to catch & reflect the sunlight as I stand under the arch and marry the love of my life :)

  8. avatar Abbie H. reply

Oooohhhh.. you want to know about my dream veil…okay:) So long before I was engaged or even close I was in love with vintage photos, and well anything vintage. So it wouldn’t surprise you that I love birdcage veils. I love them all. I would want a side angled birdcage veil, made with ivory russian veil. It would have a fabulous little removable ivory flower fascinator. This so that at the reception I could take the veil off and just wear the fascinator.

  9. avatar Okeoma reply

Another amazing giveaway!! My gown, "kate" as I call her, is a beautiful trumpet shaped ivory lace dress with a sweetheart neckline. The dress is amazingly vintage while being timelessly romantic. I would love a fantastic birdcage veil to go with it. Something dramatic with a dusty pink silk rose , feathers, pearls and a dramatic veil. It is especially important to me that the veil is one that can be worn both over the face or pinned the other way for a different look.

  10. avatar Rachel reply

My dream veil would be wrist length, ivory, with a touch of lace from my gown. It would be attached to a beautiful "antique" looking comb.

No veil for me…did that 8 years ago. But, I have met this wonderfully talented girl personally (in Atlanta at MTH) and she is absolutely to die for. So beautiful on the inside and out. You know those people who have it all? Well, she’s one of them. So whichever one of you wins this fab opportunity, you’ll meet a special someone. And I’m more than sure that the veil will be something to write home about too.

  12. avatar Jess reply

I would adore a short birdcage veil with possibly a more delicate removable overlay, something with the tiniest of trims. A bright red or burgundy flower, with small purplish feathers included and swirling, and maybe small crystals. If not that, something cream and large with white accents.I’m wearing a summer/casual dress and I have dark brown hair. Either it’ll end up goth or sunshine by default on my head.

What an awesome contest! I think a veil should be something that is unique, glamorous, and tailored to the the bride’s style, personality and culture. Since my dress is largely lace, I would absolutely love a veil that is beautifully crafted in silk, yet not over the top. 35" would be perfect- shoulder length is exactly what I’m looking for!! I would also love a veil that has a pencil or lace edge. Also, because my dress is rather detailed, I would like the veil to be simple and single-layered, to invoke the classy, glamorous side of my style. I think veils are so beautiful- the various designs, fabrics, lengths and styles- they truly invoke a feeling of romance, love and timeless beauty. Thus, I think a simple veil as described above has just as much, if not more appeal than one that is cluttered with designs, fabrics and layers. Thank you for this contest!! :-)

  14. avatar Amberdawn reply

My veil would need to be ivory to match my dress. Ideally it would be made of bridal illusion tulle, so it has just a little poofiness. I’d like it to have 3 layers, because I think that gives it visual depth. Also the skirt of my A-line gown has some volume to it, so this would balance out the bottom. The longest layer should be 30 inches; since I’m short I don’t suit a long veil. I’d like it to have a corded edge, to give it just that little bit of structure. My dress has a lot of beading along the bodice, and so does the very bottom of the skirt. I think beading on the veil might be overkill. Plus the clean line would coordinate with the clean line of most of the length of the skirt. That was fun!

  15. avatar Jessica reply

What a great giveaway! I’ve been thinking of wearing a ivory short polka dot dress for my wedding and a birdcage veil would look so amazing with it! But I have always loved a cathedral drop veil with no poof at all. I picture it to be sheer and nothing at the edges.

  16. avatar Christina reply

This is so exciting! Buying a veil is one of the next things on my to-do list. My dress and overall look is very modern and simple. I would love a fingertip length veil made of ivory tulle. I’ve seen some that have a little bit of wave (that’s my best non-designer term for it) at the end, and they are beautiful! Edged in a thin line of satin would be perfect. I plan to tuck it under my up-do for an understated look!

  17. avatar joey reply

My veil would be something short and classic, nothing outrageous but still beautiful and intricate. I want it to be part of my bridal look, not just an additional item. Thanks for this chance to win!

  18. avatar JuliAnne reply

I am SOOO excited about this giveaway. I have my dream dress, and all I need is my veil to complete the look! My dream veil will be finger length in the front, but will taper up in the back to show off the gorgeous lines and details of the back of my dress. The veil will be trimmed with a small champagne lining that will complement the bridesmaid dresses! After the ceremony I am planning to have a chiffon flower made to match the ones on the dress. This flower will replace the veil. Thanks for this opportunity!

  19. avatar Linda reply

My dream veil is birdcage, about 12", ivory, and with a fabulous hairpiece involving feathers and lace!

  20. avatar Chloe reply

My dress is so hard to match a veil with that it’d definitely have to be custom made. Probably finger tip length and champagne colored. Love the mantilla lace, too.

What a wonderful contest. For the longest time, I was not sure I wanted a veil, but as the day gets closer. I’ve decided that I would like to wear a veil on my wedding day. My dream veil is simple but elegant. I would like for it to be finger-tip length and have a lace incorporated. My veil will need to be ivory and i would like to be able to have it incorporated into my hairpiece. I have had trouble matching my dress with a veil, so certainly I would love to have a custom piece that would truly accentuate my dress. Having a custom veil made by Chaviano Bridal Couture would be an amazing blessing and dress come true.

  22. avatar danielle reply

My dream veil would be soft tulle with 2 layers. I am imagining some kind of feathers, or flowers, but I am not sure how to incorporate them.

  23. avatar Sarah reply

My dream veil would be a Chapel veil, with mantilla lace surrounding the outer edges. This is similar to the veil my grandmother wore in her wedding over 55 years ago and it would be perfect with my dress. I think veils are so beautiful and really distinguish a bride from someone wearing a beautiful white dress to someone marrying their soul mate.

  24. avatar Beth reply

My dream veil would be just like my dream dress: vintage-inspired, ivory, lace, and chapel length. I love mantilla lace. I would want something that treads the fine line of being unique and beautiful, yet classic and not too fussy.

  25. avatar Kristin reply

I’d love an ivory cathedral-length veil with gold embroidery along the edges to complement my ivory and gold Monique Lhuillier dress!

This is a fantastic giveaway. I am so excited. My dream wedding veil is inspired by Christine Baumgartner veil. I am getting married in Havana, Cuba – so this vintage style would suit the dress i am wearing, which is by Terani Couture 953385, http://www.teraniny.com/imgB.php?prod_id=2241&prod_img=95338E.jpgI would like a soft vintage creme -lace veil with beading. Large intricate lacing on the outer edge and soft beading in the body of the veil, with a subtle royal blue lace accent. I would like a modern inspired beaded cap (moon shaped), where the veil attaches to. The cap would sit lower on my head. This would be a dream veil, and i will keep my fingers crossed. Thank you for this opportunity. Sincerely,[email protected]

Little known fact: Roman brides were the first to wear veils. The purpose? To defend their head from little demons and keep themselves pure for their husbands. I’m not sure that I’ll be picking fights with demons on my wedding day, but I still love the tradition of wearing a veil and plan to do so at my wedding. Other than the white dress, the veil really is the most dramatic and recognized bridal fashion so I want mine to be long. Very long. Cathedral length long. Although it would be long, I’d like it to be sheer, light, and barely there to balance the length and drama. Finally, I would incorporate tiny, tiny Swarovski crystals either along the edge or dotted throughout, to match the sheer back of my dress which is covered in a crystal lace design. Our ceremony is in a beautiful church with floor-to-ceiling stained glass windowns and I can just picture the sunset light casting a gorgeous glow on my back as I face the altar. It would be magic! No demons in sight …

  28. avatar DD reply

Ahhh! A custom veil!!!! I am really struggling with which one to pick, so this would be an amazing giveaway to win. My dress is a simple, elegant Nicole Miller gown. My favorite part about the gown is the back- which makes choosing a veil so difficult! I want to design something that is classic, but doesn’t completely cover the back of the dress. I would love a designers input on my challenge. I am pretty sure I want to use tulle and I love the poofiness of a fountain veil so that is where I would start with the design :)

  29. avatar alina reply

I think any styles is suitable for the slender brides especially mermaid wedding dress with a beautiful fishtail effect train. If you are tall and thin, your dress should strengthen the shoulder design to make you looks vigorous, for example, padded shoulders, exaggerated bubble sleeves. The bodice should avoid strapless or low cut neckline.Straight cutting looks better on the plumpish brides, creating a more slender look. Low-cut neckline is better than high collar here and the waist and skirt design should avoid exaggerate.

  30. avatar Mary reply

My dress is simple: Ivory silk shantung with a pale pink sash. I’d love a waltz/ballet length veil that adds a little bit of drama to my wedding dress w/o going over the top. I’d love to see tiny pale pink beads tastefully incorporated with a simple lace edge, but I’d also love to see Annette’s veil ideas too! Gorgeous dresses!

  31. avatar Julie reply

I haven’t found a veil to match my antique lace dress yet. The color is a deep champagne and has a great deal of detail. I would love a simple veil that feels light and airy. One tier of lace with a beautiful clip that matches the beading and lace flowers on my dress.

  32. avatar Amanda H reply

I have struggled to find the perfect veil because my dress is not ivory or white, but a rich, fabulous, champagne color called "latte." My dress is a silk organza strapless a-line dress with a ribbon at the natural waist and little, tiny, vintage-inspired, whimsical flowers at the neckline, and I love it a lot! A custom veil would be so wonderful, because then the color would be just right! As for the design, I imagine it being a gauzy-thin silky material that is elbow length in the front and gradually longer in the back, and edged in a matching champagne silk ribbon, and a few tiny flowers (like the ones at the bust) along the edge. That would be heavenly!

  33. avatar Carrie reply

My dream veil would be a single layer of soft tulle that is fingertip length. I would like to have the hair piece decorated with crystals and small pearls to complement the beading and embroidery on my dress. The veil would ideally be moderately full at the top, but then less full as it flows over the back of my dress so that the detail work on my dress can still be seen through the veil and the edge of the veil will be an intricate, yet delicate, design of crystal beads and pearls.

  34. avatar Mindy reply

Hi! Im not sure if this is allowed but I am entering for one of my Bride’s! I must confess she has also been my best friend for 25 years! Anyway, she isn’t much of a visionary when it comes to her veil but I have been dreaming of the perfect veil for her for a long time! She will be having her ceremony at a Greek Orthodox Church in Cambridge MA. The ceremony will be long and dramatic just like I envision her veil to be! In one part of the ceremony she and her groom will have beautiful crowns placed on their heads so the veil would need to coordinate with it! This is a real chance to create the PERFECT veil for her! Thank You for this contest!!! Fingers crossed!!!

  35. avatar Jessica reply

I picture myself wearing an ivory birdcage veil (about 10") with a gorgeous hairpiece that incorporates a beautiful vintage looking flower, as well. It’s difficult for me to picture myself in a dramatic floor length veil and this more of what I’m in the market for. Honestly, I love the birdcage veil that Reese Witherspoon sports in Sweet Home Alabama and my dress is similar also. Silly, I know, but I think the look is just beautiful, simple and elegant.

  36. avatar bmolavi reply

I have not given so much thought to this matter, mainly because I cannot afford it. . .But giving it a little bit more thought, I don’t think I like long veils. . .I’m more into a birdcage kinda veil, maybe with a nice feathery flower in ivory. . .

  37. avatar Sylvia reply

Finding a veil that fits my dress has been more of a challenge than I would have thought! And unfortunately, my attempts to DIY a veil that matches the beauty of my ivory, lace detailed, slight mermaid fit dress has not been fruitful.I love the look of vintage veils (silk tulle) that were made before nylon was invented. They are so soft and delicate – practically ethereal. My dream veil would definitely have to be made of ivory silk tulle, one-layer, cascade cut, finger-tip length with 1” or less rosepoint lace edge with small pearl accents. The silk tulle, cascade cut, lace edge and pearl accents all fit with my romantic wedding dress. The fingertip length is the best fit for me. I feel that this length allows the dress and the veil to coexist. Any shorter and the veil would compete with the beautiful lace on the back of the dress. Any longer and the beautiful details would be lost in the larger lace patterns of my dress. I also don’t want such a gorgeous veil to be ruined by dragging on the floor!

  38. avatar Lauren reply

I’d love the opportunity to design my own veil – I’ve looked at many, but haven’t yet found one that fits my dress and my style. I think a veil is one of the most intimate pieces that a bride wears, and it would be amazing to have it custom made for you. Thanks for the chance to win!

  39. avatar Allie reply

I had been planning all along on wearing my mother’s juliet cap, two-tiered veil with lace applique edges. BUT, it turns out that the color just doesn’t work well with my warm ivory dress (which I love). I have been hoping that I could somehow find a new veil that would complement my dress that I could attach to my mother’s cap–so I could wear a part of her veil but still look my best on my wedding day. I would love a long, sheer ivory veil that keeps the romantic look of my embroidered dress and lace juliet cap, but doesn’t overpower. Thank you so much for the giveaway opportunity!

  40. avatar Ashley reply

I have been searching high and low for a veil that makes my heart stop. My dress doesn’t have a very long train and I have always envisioned walking down the church aisle with a long cathedral veil to add a little drama and really make me feel like a bride. If I could design my own veil, it would be a 120′ long white cathedral single layer veil made of tulle. There would be beaded embroidery that mimiced the detailing of my dress’ bodice along a simple cut edge. It would be on a simpe metal comb and would be light so as not to pull on my hair.

  41. avatar Stefanie reply

My dream veil would come to my lower back. It would be outlined in lace flowers, and come down in an oval shape. I want to to look "gardeny", for my outdoor, low-key, summer-time wedding!

  42. avatar Julie reply

My dream veil would be simple, to complement the simplicity of my ivory dress. Ivory, fingertip length, gathered at the comb, and with a delicate edge of ivory lace. Just enough for a morning wedding! Thanks for the great giveaway!

  43. avatar Erika reply

I have pretty much given up on a veil. With a very tight budget, none of the cheap veils I’ve run across are going to do. Spending over 100 bucks on a veil just isn’t possible for me. However, if I could create a dream veil, it would need to be stunning. I’d definitely need advice! I love my long, curly, thick locks and I would want my veil to flow with them. Long, with a fabric that wasn’t too stiff or shiny. I would want my veil to be an extension of me, able to make a statement without being overpowering. Nothing too solid, but nothing that is poofy. I work hard for my hair not to poof, I don’t want my veil to either.

  44. avatar maria reply

definitely a traditional one lined in lace!

  45. avatar Darya reply

My ideal veil would be chapel length and ivory to match my gown. It would be made of the lightest, sheerest tulle and create breathtaking drama in photos with just the smallest breath of wind.

  46. avatar Kristen reply

I would love a facinator with a beautiful fabric flower and a bit of light netting to frame my face. My colors are black and white, and I have pondered having a black flower to give a bit of pop to my otherwise white attire.

  47. avatar Heather reply

I am getting married in August in Sonoma, California. We are trying to keep to a very tight budget, so I purchased my incredible, lace gown used from one of the used dress sites. The dress is modest in front with a beautiful sweetheart neckline and small cap sleeves, but the back opens to a dramatic plunging keyhole. I am trying to find a veil to complement the back that is the showpiece of the dress. Since the dress is so traditional, I would really like to do something modern with the veil. A long, flowing, ivory veil that shows just enough of my back to make it modest for the ceremony, but hints at the exposed design underneath. For the reception, I have always known that I will wear a large silk flower in my hair.

  48. avatar Randi Erin reply

My dream veil would be cathedral length with lots of layers and a little lace detail at the bottom! I have always wanted to wear a long veil… it just screams "bride" to me! And since my wedding is the only time I’ll ever wear one, the bigger, longer, puffier the veil, the better!!!

  49. avatar lisa reply

It would be ivory around fingertip length, but beyond that I would need some help and inspiration!

  50. avatar Anna Kim reply

I am in love with bird cage veils. Classic and yet elegant.

  51. avatar Crystal Gulley reply

My dress is Augusta Jones Ashten, so simple until the bottom, which is covered in lace. Thats why I want a dramatic veil. I would want it to be about waste length, with a rounded hem. Three tiers, and at the bottom of each I would want a thick band of lace mimicking the bottom of the dress. No blusher, I want it to lay flat across the back, and over my shoulders, with no puffy top. My ceremony is outside, so I want it to be wind resistant! LOL

  52. avatar Kenya F. reply

Great Giveaway! My dream veil would be white chapel length with mantilla lace trim with Swarovski Crystal throughout the lace. It definitely would have to be vintage-like to match my jewerly.

  53. avatar Maureen reply

Dream Veil-oh this is something I’ve hemmed and hawed over for quite some time. Do I want a simple, yet dramatic bird cage veil? Perhaps a subdued, elegant fingertip veil? An intricate mantilla veil!?? While all are beautiful and awe inspiring, the fact of the matter is, I’m a girl that loves flair, drama, and the extreme. I believe that there is no such thing as "too much" (sorry Coco Channel) and the bigger, the better! My dream veil is an ivory cathedral length, mantilla lace bordered, jaw dropping, eyes on me, stop the show, gorgeous veil! Think: Grace Kelly!! The veil is the icing on the cake! When you think bride you naturally think of a white dress, but a veil is what cements the picture in our heads. It will not only complete my look, but help define it!

  54. avatar Jen reply

I want a cathedral length mantilla with thick lace rosettes lining it. I always swoon when I see Pronovias veils, so I think something like that would be spectacular with my all-lace dress.

  55. avatar Lauren G reply

My dream veil would be a replication of my mother’s veil. Swiss dot with a lace trim. Simple, yet sophisticated.

  56. avatar Rose reply

My dress is a beautiful, vintage style, ivory dress with beading throughout. I think a mantilla style veil would compliment it wonderfully. I have been searching for one that is just right but haven’t found "the one" yet. Would love to design one!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, y’all!  (You like how I added the “y’all” there to make my festive wishes instantly more Southern?)  Today, my fiancé and his friends over at Duke Med are making plans for how they’re going to celebrate on this gorgeous March day, but Lara, Emily, Sandi and I are stuck inside working diligently on the next issue.  We’re awesome like that.

Unfortunately, while Lara wouldn’t let me have the day off to partake in the local pub-crawl (a girl can dream right?), I’ve entertained myself by making a list of things I can do to celebrate my non-existent Irishness.  Yes, I get paid to do this.  Just don’t tell my boss.

Here goes:

1.  Turn Abby Kitty Pants into the office Leprechaun by dyeing her tail (and the rest of her) green.

2.  Choreograph a traditional Irish step dance for Emily.  For those of you new to the blog, you may not know that our Art Director, Emily Ayer, used to perform with a troupe of other steppers.  One word to describe her dancing career?  Illustrious.

3.  Collect every type of green candy currently on the shelves at CVS.  Wish-list: green Sour Patch Kids, green Gobstoppers, green Airheads, green Skittles, green M&M (both peanut and regular) and Andes mints.  Got any suggestions for me?

4.  “Southernize” the traditionally Irish holiday with clever turns of phrase, like “Slainte, y’all!”  (Cheers, y’all!)  See how easy that was?

Despite having to celebrate within the confines of an office – and despite the fact that Whitney’s the only SW gal with true Irish heritage – we’re still feeling pretty lucky.  So, in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day:

Lara: I’m lucky to be celebrating my 4 year wedding anniversary tomorrow, to have a family that cares for me unconditionally, work that inspires me, a staff that I adore, laughter, a kitty who makes me laugh, red hair so I don’t have to wear green today, and DayQuill.  I have strep and a fever today and am working in a different room than the lovely ladies listed here so I don’t get them more sick.  OK, Katharine and Sandi are sick, too, so we’re trying to keep Emily from turning green – though that would be a particularly apropos color today!  I’m lucky to be loved and have the opportunity to love another day.  There’s no greater gift.

Emily: I’m lucky because I have a family that loves me, a boyfriend that loves me, and two ridiculously adorable cats that tolerate me (though they prefer the boyfriend).  Also, macaroni and cheese: I am lucky macaroni and cheese exists.

Katharine: I’m lucky to have a job – especially one I love – in a tough economic climate.  I’m lucky to be happy + healthy, to be living close to my family and to be marrying my college sweetheart in 6 short months!  (I’m also lucky that no one can ever make fun of me for being an Irish step dancer like some people in this office…)

Whitney:  I’m lucky that I am very, very, very Irish (though I’ve yet to find a pot of gold).  I’m also lucky that I look good in green, if I do say so myself.  I’ll leave you now with an extremely true Irish saying: “There are only two kinds of people in the world: the Irish and those who wish they were.”

All in all, it’s been a pretty good St. Patrick’s Day.  And, worse comes to worse, I can always sneak out mid-Irish step dance performance and hit the local tavern…

xoxo,
Katharine

P.S.  Naturally, I forgot to wear green today.  Fail.
