Happy Friday, friends! Today we have a trio of Southern photographers to introduce you to.

First up is Kelly Sauer, based in Charleston, South Carolina! I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with Kelly several times, and can tell you that she’s as sweet as she seems! We’ve also had the pleasure of publishing a snippet of her work on SW — check out the adorable proposal we featured here! You can also check out Kelly’s work on her blog and website, and in her SW gallery here.

Next we have Heidi Morgan, who is based in Atlanta. Heidi describes her photography as perfect for “the sophisticated and the sassy.” It’s bright and colorful, dramatic and intimate. Check out more of her work on her blog and site, and don’t miss her portfolio on SW!

Last but certainly not least, we have Whitebox Weddings. Whitebox is based in North Carolina but travels all over to shoot weddings. They’re behind several lovely weddings on SW, including Candice + Jimmy and Katy + Ryan. Fun fact: they also photographed my cousin’s wedding! If sharp, bright, natural and effortlessly carefree and fun photos are your thing, check out more of Mel and Sara’s work on their blog, site, and SW gallery.

Many thanks to these lovely ladies! Readers, if you’re looking for the perfect vendor for your Southern wedding, be sure to check out our Resource Gallery! Vendors, interested in joining? Whitney can give you the 411 — just email her!

Awh, thank you so much for the love! I’ve been out of town for a birth all week instead of finishing the update of my portfolio at my site, so I feel only half-dressed, but this is such a wonderful way to come home!

Happy Friday to all at SW!

Y’all know we do not usually go in for the overly-theme-y engagement shoots. For one thing, what could you honestly do with the images, as lovely as they might be?! The one exception is when the styling is completely authentic to the couple, and is done with a light hand. I think you’ll agree that happily, that’s the case with these shots from Hazelnut Photography.

Jenn + Mike split their engagement session into two parts. The first showcased Mike’s beloved ’52 Chevy truck. Here’s the story:

In 1952, Mike’s great-grandfather bought a brand new truck, fresh off the lot. It was gorgeous and he loved it. Later that year, he packed his entire family into it and drove across the country to settle in Southern California. Over the years, as everything does, it fell into disrepair. Nearly sixty years later, Mike, his father and his brother have given it back its glory, refurbishing it from the bottom up. It is now his pride and joy… well, right after Jenn!

When I began talking to Jenn + Mike about their engagement session, a few things quickly became clearly important: the truck. The dog. And their favorite pastime, camping. (They’ve even planned their October wedding to fall on an annual camping trip weekend… so their anniversary will always be commemorated in nature!) I’m so happy with their session and I’m thrilled to share it with you! Being from the South myself (I’m a North Carolina native!) this session made me homesick for my childhood.

Thank you so much for sharing, Jordana! LOVE the story behind the camping set-up. Jenn + Mike, we can’t wait to see your wedding!

I love dogs, and I love incorporating them with photo sessions such as engagements like this. Their photos are so carefree that looking at them makes me feel pleasant and light. :D

Happy Monday! Let’s start off the week with this sweet and simple engagement shoot, what do you say? Photographer Eric Boneske sent it in, and we are in love!

From the bride:

Our inspiration for our engagement shoot was based upon where we first fell in love. As cheesy as that may sound, when Brandon and I first met, I was living in Wilmington for the summer and he was in Greenville, and the foundation of our relationship really played out in Wilmington. I grew up in Wilmington, and like most Wilmingtonians, had a pretty healthy obsession with Dawson’s Creek. The intracoastal waterway has this sort of discrete beauty–not too fussy or loud–and I knew it would provide the perfect backdrop for some amazing pictures. Our photographer even snuck us on to this property that has yet to be developed, a rare gem in Wilmington, which made our experience even more special.

Thanks so much for sending over these images, Eric! And for sharing a bit of your love story, Taylor + Brandon!

Readers, we’ll be back in a moment with another Southern engagement shoot for your viewing pleasure!
