The best weddings are the ones that let loved ones into the story of your relationship, I think. For two high school sweethearts, what could be more fitting than saying “I do” at their alma mater? Of course, marrying on the football field isn’t the only way to tell the story of your relationship’s beginnings, but as a high school sweetheart myself, I think it’s a pretty sweet one :)
Kristin and I squealed when this styled shoot crossed my desk — it’s just too fun! Hope y’all enjoy, and that it inspires you to inject pieces of your own unique story, whatever it might be, into your wedding day!

One of the most frequent emails I get is from brides looking for suggestions for great bridal party gifts. It’s a tough nut to crack, right? These are some of the people you love most in the world, and you want to get them something sweet and meaningful, but you’re also paying for a wedding and any gift amount is going to be multiplied by two, or four, or ten (or however many bridesmaids and groomsmen you have!). We’re here to help (always!), so today’s answer to this age-old question are the new personalized gifts from Shutterfly!
We all know and love Shutterfly for photos, so we were thrilled about the launch of their new line of personalized statement gifts –premium, completely customizable wedding gifts at a great value.
First up? These personalized wine glasses! Hand them out when you gather to get ready on the morning of the wedding. The etched monogramming is simple and chic–it will be a hit no matter your pals’ style!
Another great gift idea for the morning of the wedding: a canvas pouch filled with all the essentials your ladies will need for a day of celebrating. Think: mini deodorant, mints, lipstick for touch-ups, and blotting sheets. Useful on your big day, and for years to come!
Here’s an idea we love if you’re lucky enough to live near your bridesmaids: surprise each on her doorstep with a monogrammed vase filled with flowers in her favorite color! This would be a sweet way to ask her to stand by your side soon after you get engaged, or as a special thank you after several late nights of DIY crafting! :)
Traveling somewhere tropical for your bachelorette party? Thank your friends for planning such a fabulous weekend by packing goodies in your carry-on! We personalized flamingo canvas pouches with celebratory weekend essentials (including confetti!) and stemless wine glasses for toasting.
Finding something at the right price point for your ladies can be tricky, but when it comes to the guys, I know some of y’all are just plain stumped. Thankfully, we’ve got your groomsmen covered, too. Try these personalized pilsner glasses –pair them with a custom beer growler for their favorite brew (and/or a melty biscuit!) on the morning of the wedding. We also love Shutterfly’s luggage tags, which are easy to personalize with a photo of each gents’ favorite destination.
Shutterfly’s tools make it easy to create gifts your bridal party will love, with great style and at a great price. We hope these ideas have inspired you to bring your own vision to life for your favorite guys and gals! To get started take a peek at all of Shutterfly’s new statement gifts here.

I don’t know about you, but I love to get the backstory: the how and why and what-happened-next. For us, the backstory always involves a whole lot of heart and soul, hopefully no blood, usually tons of sweat (this is the South, after all), and on a very funny day, some tears. These editorials matter a lot to us — we believe they can help inspire and encourage you toward a wedding that truly celebrates your story, and becomes a platform to launch you into married life with joy and surety and the support and best wishes of your loved ones. Our shoot days are long, fun, and filled with talented people who also care very much about this mission. I hope you enjoy this peek behind the curtain! :)
We’re grateful to Rachel and Taylor from Blue Barn Photography, who graciously captured all of the action back in May!
Aimee of the Parlour Chapel is a budding and talented hand letterer! It was so sweet to be greeted by this chalkboard sign as we walked in. And as you likely saw in the magazine, her lettering also came in handy on our punch cup display – so grateful she was able to help us out in a pinch!
I have about ten more behind-the-scenes photos of Mallory gazing thoughtfully at details and set-ups throughout the day, which makes me want to insert the crying-laughing emoji :) But truthfully, she was such a lovely, thoughtful partner throughout planning this editorial, and I’m grateful for all of her considered decisions!
Jess’ nails are spot-on, aren’t they? This was her first time at a shoot, and she was a natural — even producing bubbles from her trunk to occupy our flower girl towards the end of the day!!
See the finished images from this Southern Weddings V9 editorial right here, and in our magazine on newsstands around the South! (And, of course, in the Southern Weddings Shop!)
