Monthly Archives: June 2010

Remember that little survey we did a few months back?  We asked you what you liked, what you loved and what you didn’t like quite so much about the last issue, and one thing’s for certain: you loved (and I mean, loved) our extend Fab Finds section.  You loved it so much, in fact, that you’ve asked us to give you even more eye candy in the Spring/Summer issue, which we’re hard at work on, by the way!  For those of you who haven’t gotten your copy of the latest SW mag, take a peek at some of the glittery, glitzy and sweet things we found!  P.S.  My favorite?  The Alexis Bittar dogwood cuff from Avelle.  What’s yours?

Top to Bottom, Left to Right: Key Pendants from Tiffany’s; Orchid Brooches from Tiffany’s; Clay Gardenia Hair Flower from DK Designs; Capri Blue Jar Candle from Anthropologie; Ring Bearer Bowl from Paloma’s Nest; Lollia Eau de Parfum from Anthropologie; Chanel Vintage Pink Sautoir Necklace from Avelle; Double Wick Candle from Linneas Lights; Sparkling Blue Flower Ring from Avelle; Kenneth Jay Lane earrings from Avelle; The Multiple in “Orgasm” from NARS Cosmetics; Mercury Headband from Anthropologie; Leather Travel Accessories from Tiffany’s; Alexis Bittar Dogwood Flower Cuff from Avelle; Parisian Cookies from Sucre.

As I’ve said before, who needs fancy models showing off gowns when we can share a real bride and the dress she chose for her wedding day?  Thanks to the lovely Kindelle, we can do just that!  K chose the Coco from Amsale, purchased from Nitsa’s.  Her hair was done by Advanced Attraction in New Bern, NC.  Huge thanks to the very talented Joey + Jessica for sending these images our way!  You can see a few more images from this session at the Tryon Palace on their blog here.

P.S. Look!  It’s another strap option!

We can’t wait to see your wedding, Kindelle!  Best of luck!

We’re back with a few of our favorite reception shots – courtesy of Todd Pellowe – from Jenny + Brenden’s Kentucky wedding at the Yew Dell Gardens.  The Wiltshire Pantry served traditional Southern fare (and plenty of Bourbon!) before guests indulged in the a sweets bar from Cake Flour (502 719-0172).  Want to see more?  Yeah, ya do!  Check out Todd’s blog post here!

Describe your wedding flowers:  It was important to us that we use local flowers for our wedding.  We found Jillian at Fiori, told her our colors and asked to get whatever was local that time of year.  The finished product was amazing.  She used tulips, cala lilies, peonies and roses to make little bouquets with amazing colors.  The centerpieces looked great and added beautiful color to the mason jars they sat in.
Describe your wedding cake:  We decided we didn’t want a cake, and instead opted for a dessert bar.  The desserts came from Cake Flour, a Louisville bakery that uses all-natural and organic ingredients.  We had a variety of cupcakes, tartlets and macaroons. Apparently they were great: we ran out quick!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Seeing each other for the first time!  We decided to see each other before the ceremony and to take pictures so that we could head to the cocktail hour as soon as possible.  We were super happy to see each other, and shared a nice personal moment before looking up to see our parents, wedding party, and my uncle looking down and spying on us and taking pictures.  So much for our intimate moment!  Also, the loud train that went by about 3 minutes into our ceremony made everyone laugh really hard and helped us relax a little.
Did you write your own vows?  If so, what was your favorite phrase, verse or line? We did. Brendan’s favorite line was the first one: “I, Brendan, take you, Jenny, to be my wife, my partner in life, and my one true love”.
What’s next for you as a couple?  What are you looking forward to in the future?  Brendan is starting his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of North Carolina in June, so we have been busy preparing to move to Chapel Hill and into our new house.  We really look forward to getting to know the area and spending time with family there.

Congratulations, Jenny + Brendan!  Welcome to Chapel Hill.  Don’t be strangers, y’all!
