I don’t know if there is such a thing as thing as the quintessential down-home farm wedding, but I’m pretty sure this would be it.  There are so many unbelievable details at Jane + Pete’s Florida reception that, rather than trying to point them all out, I’ll just let you take a minute to take it all in and breathe a collective sigh of awe.  I will say that the overhead shot of the reception set-up is simply magical and the couple’s four-tier, flower-studded wedding cake from Creative Confections by Betty Weber fresh and appropriately rustic.  Be sure to check out Cook Images’ blog post on Jane + Pete’s Florida nuptials here!

Describe your wedding flowers: This was a very important element to me because I saw it as the detail that was going to make my dream of a perfect wedding come true.  I was fortunate enough to work with a great florist and wedding planner who brought my ideas to life. My inspiration was gorgeous wildflowers.  I wanted to make sure they seemed like they could have been picked out the field. I wanted the ceremony to seem like we were in a field of wildflowers! I wanted the flowers at the reception to have the same feel and make sure they were very bold and bright and to stand out in the field of green around all of us.   I also wanted each of my bridesmaids to carry a unique flower that represented her personality and that my bouquet include each of their flowers to represent the love I have for each of them.  I also included some charms in my bouquet that had belonged to those special people who have passed away so that they were close to my heart on the day I married my best friend.
Describe your wedding cake: I got the idea for our cake from a friend, who used the similar look in her wedding. I really had a hard time deciding on what type of cake I wanted, so when I saw pictures of hers I loved the idea of having a round cake with fresh flowers to make it stand out.
Pete’s groom’s cake was really important to us, as it was not only our favorite flavor (chocolate peanut butter) but it also included a deer which represented the location we were at as well as, Pete’s love for hunting. Pete’s cake was definitely the hit of the night.
Were there any wedding traditions or new ideas you included in the wedding? Our wedding ceremony was very special. Not only did we have a ceremony with both Jewish and Christian elements. The traditions included the handmade chuppah, breaking of the glass, special vows, reading of the apache blessing, a poem by E.E. Cummings and, most importantly, Don Livingston, a very special man to us who took his time to become ordained so that he could perform our ceremony. He was amazing and kept us calm and made the ceremony absolutely beautiful.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Every moment of the day was so memorable, but if I had to pick one specific moment I would have to pick the moment I saw Pete. We met prior to the wedding in a field we originally wanted to get married in and the moment our eyes met the day became everything I imagined and more. To get the chance to marry your soul mate and best friend is something so special and so memorable that nothing can take that away.
Did you write your own vows?  We did write our own vows. We went back and forth on this because the pressure of writing your own vows and making sure to try and remember them can be stressful, but we discussed it with the officiant and he reminded us the importance of making sure to remind each other of our love that day, so we went ahead and did our own vows.

What’s next for you as a couple?  What are you looking forward to in the future? We are enjoying being newlyweds and getting into the swing of married life. We are looking forward to the many memories we’ll make and starting a family.

Congratulations, Jane + Pete from all of us here at SW!

I’ll admit it: One of the perks to working for Southern Weddings is getting an exclusive sneak peek at (and the occassional mini-fashion show of) the fabulous accessories we feature in our magazine and photo shoots.  If you pored over our most recent issue (which I know some of you definitely have!), you may have noticed the to-die-for gold and pearl ring featured on page 16.

The Jocelyn ring is only one of the many treasures we fell in love with from Modest Peach.  (Fun Fact: Catherine Leo and her team at Modest Peach just launched an entire Southern Weddings collection with pieces designed and named for each of the editors, so be on the look-out for your chance to own a piece of the SW team.)

The Modest Peach gals knew how much we swooned over their jewelry back when we were working on the last issue, and, to our delight, they’ve generously decided to sponsor their very own give-away.

How to enter:  Visit the Modest Peach website and pick your favorite piece of jewelry and tell us why your wedding day ensemble just wouldn’t be complete without it.  (Good luck picking just one!)  Please leave your submissions in the comment field below this post.

The prizes:  Our first place winner will receive a custom “Emily” gold vermeil cuff, and our second place winner will win the same stunner in silver.  Two runner-ups will be the proud own of a gold or silver Jocelyn ring.

As an added bonus, all our readers will receive a 20% discount on any purchase from now until February 28 by entering the following promo code: SWMAG

The contest ends at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, January 29, so hurry on over to Modest Peach to pick out your favorite eye candy!  Happy hunting!

I would have to say that Jocelyn would absolutely complete my ensamble. It is BEAUTIFUL. It’s a perfect combination of vintage & modern – completely drool-worthy. It would match the large flower on my vintage dress perfectly! Thank you for introducing us to the wonderful world of Modest Peach!!

I would have to pick the Jocelyn – Silver flower ring. It is amazing! We are getting married in June at My Old Kentucky Home. I have been looking for a cocktail ring to wear on my wedding day. With our outdoor cermony and the beautiful rose gardens everywhere this ring would be perfect.

  3. avatar Emily L reply

Ok so #1. my name is Emily and who doesn’t want to wear jewelry named after them on their wedding day. #2 I am in love with the Ashley because it just screams greek goddess to me for some reason. So either I got to change my name to Ashley or just embrace the (equal) beauty of the Emily cuff. These are the kind of tough decisions I like.

  4. avatar Katie Lake reply

I would say it has to be the Jocelyn. I’m not engaged (yet. tapping my foot…) but I already know I will have small dogwood trees painted gold at the entrance to the sanctuary.

Thanks for introducing me to Modest Peach! I would have to say A Walk In the Garden earings. They are just darling and since I can’t wear heavy earings would be much better than just wearing plain old diamond studs. Plus, the earings will match the flower belt I bought to wear on my dress.

I would love the Anna locket necklace. I have 2 grandparents no longer with us and would love to honor their memory by placing their pictures in a locket and securing it to my bouquet. The Anna locket would be the perfect way to honor them while complimenting my yellow and charcoal color scheme.

I love a timeless, classic look and on my wedding day there’s no exception! I absolutely love the Engagement crystal stud earrings! The focus should be on me, my dress, my future husband, and not my earrings or jewlery. Being able to wear these earrings would be just perfect for our wedding day!

Before even getting to the contest part of this blog post I was already on the Modest Peach website checking out their other items becuase of this ring and cuff. I absolutely LOVE the gold ones!!! It would definitely be in my wedding attire!!! I am obsessed!!!!If I had to pick one other thing from their website to complete my look I would choose The Girls Night Out earrings. I want a casual wedding with maybe even a short dress and these three items would be the highlight!!!Blain

I love love love the emily cuff. I can see myself wearing this to the brunch on sunday morning! How pretty would it look with a simple black dress?

  10. avatar Megan reply

I adore the silver flower cuff! For my upcoming May wedding, I like to describe my gown as vintage-romantic with modern touches. I think the silver cuff adorned with the soft, yet also bold, flower will be the perfect addition to my wedding day attire! Thank you for introducing the readers and followers of your blog to Modest Peach! I am in love with their unique, classy jewelry!!

I really love the Emily cuff in gold, so so much! But cuffs often overwhelm my tiny wrists, or don’t fit at all, so I’ll have to go with the Jocelyn ring in gold. I’m getting married in a vineyard at sunset, and I would love to see this gorgeous ring highlighted by the golden glow of the setting sun.

  12. avatar Ashley Sue Allen reply

The Emily cuff in gold WOULD complete my ensemble! The design is so bold, yet so simple, like the ocean theme which is my wedding day, and I am looking for the perfect gold cuff for just that statement! It’s beautiful beautiful beautiful! Ahhhh! The PERFECT "something new"!

  13. avatar Kris reply

Oh My!!! The Emily cuff in gold would be the PERFECT finishing touch to my wedding day look!! My wedding gown is the J Crew Rebecca, a simple empire wasted dress. What is giving me the extra special look is the accessories that I will be adding to my gown. I have gotten a custom bolero made from the lace on my grandmother’s wedding dress. I am also wearing pearls from my fiance’s late grandmother. I have gotten 3 fabric flowers to add to the sash on my dress! When I sawthe Emily cuff my heart skipped a beat! the pearls AND the flower??? …. absolute perfection!

  14. avatar Jessica reply

The Emily gold cuff definitely is my favorite, it is pure beauty! Gold is one of my wedding colors and this cuff would look fabulous sitting pretty on my wrist! It would fit perfectly with so many of the gold details that will be included in my wedding day decor. Thanks so much for introducing us to Modest Peach, I love unusual pieces that still portray classic elegance.

  15. avatar Sarah reply

Must I pick just one? Well, if I must, I must…I love the The Blessing in Disguise earrings! Those earrings would add just the touch of chic and gorgeous simplicity my wedding ‘look’ needs!

  16. avatar carrie reply

Wow … thank you for introducing me to this beautiful jewlery! The silver Emily cuff would complement my wedding dress perfectly. My dress is strapless with a sweatheart neckline and flower design very similar to the cuff. I have been searching high and low for the perfect bracelet. I want something bold and pretty for my wrist since I have decided not to wear a necklace. The Emily cuff is exactly what I am looking for!

  17. avatar Kelly reply

I love so many of your pieces…in both gold and silver (I’m usually not a fan of gold jewelry, but wow, you’ve got some gorgeous pieces). I have to say I love the Alba ring the best.

  18. avatar Amber reply

The Carrie necklace would complete my wedding look! Layered with the chunky fresh water pearl necklace I already have, it would add gold to the mix, which is one of my colors (dark red, dark brown, gold and ivory for a September wedding). Layering the necklaces would compliment my modern dress. My dress is a simple, strapless tissue taffeta gown so I want to have some fun with my jewelry. Thanks,Amber

When I got married, I did it with very simple jewelry. Diamond studs and my engagement ring. I wanted beautiful simple acessories, but really was unable to find what I wanted. Modest Peach would have saved me!!! I adore the beautiful simplicity of the Kaitlyn necklace. It would have been perfect with my dress, adding just a bit of interest to my neckline without detracting from the beauty of my dress.

  24. avatar Jackie reply

Thank you for sharing this! I’m loving the Emily bracelet! I been searching for the right accessories for my wedding day and its perfect!

I love the vintage look of the Helen and it could serve as my something blue! Great pieces, thanks for introducing it to me!

The silver Jocelyn ring is just too perfect for my wedding day attire. I have made a hair fascinator/birdcage veil by painting a fabric magnolia blossom with silver leaf paint and adorning it with some jewels, the silver Jocelyn ring looks like a mini version of my hairpiece, would fit in perfectly with our Charleston, South Carolina -themed wedding.

  29. avatar BEVERLY reply

I would love to have the Jocelyn ring for my southern and simple wedding! We are on a shoestring budget and trying to be simple and elegant and I can just smell magnolia when I see this ring. Anyway, it would be a beautiful addition to the most wonderful day!

  30. avatar Priscilla reply

I love, love, love the Florence cuff! It’s simple, elegant, and has a bit of a vintage vibe, which is just what I’m going for with the plans for my September wedding. Plus, it would perfectly cover my eternal knot tattoo on my wrist, which, while it’s a beautiful tattoo, my mom would love to not see on my wedding day.

  31. avatar Lisa-Lila reply

The Modest Peach has the most stunning pieces! Thank you Modest Peachfor your generousity! The "Abigail" bracelet is so unique with a vintage feel. I have not picked out any jewelry for my special day and I am HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE with the "Emily" gold vermeil cuff. This is the first time I have seen anything quite as breathtakingly beautiful. The flower is so dainty and the cute little pearls make it even sweeter. My ensemble is literally SCREEMING for this accent piece, as my gown is adorned with hand-painted flowers and the cuff would add a magnificent touch.

  32. avatar Jenna reply

I love the Anne ring. It is simple but beautiful piece that could be worn again and again to remind me of my wedding day. Definitely a piece I could pass on to my daughter some day.

  33. avatar Jennifer R. reply

I adore everything on their site, so it’s hard to choose. For my personal use, I’d go with the Charlotte locket, and incorporate it into my bouquet. I’d include a photo of my Mammaw (Dad’s mom) and Poppy (Mom’s dad) who won’t be able to be with me on my special day.The giveaways are amazing though. I would love to be able to gift the Emily cuff to my Maid of Honor. She’s already done so much for me, and I’m so blessed to have her by my side. I’d love to be able to give her something special that she can hold on to. I can definitely see her wearing it often.

  34. avatar Carly reply

i looooooooooove the Emily cuff in gold AND silver! both are so perfect…. my wedding ensemble could certainly use the bit of GLAM that the cuff would provide. My fiance is super conservative/traditional and because of that, so is my jewelry!! i love the simplicity of the pieces he choses, but for a wedding i think a fabulous piece of jewelry like that on my arm would really be the icing on the cake =) thanks for posting all the great ideas and the giveaway!!

  35. avatar Naazia H reply

I looove the "Something Blue" earrings… they are so delicate. Also I love the NAMES of all the jewelry, so creative and festive. "Something Blue" would be a lovely addition to my wedding… as would ANY of these pieces, they are all gorgeous.

  36. avatar Jenna reply

The Emily bracelets are honestly my favorite from the site. I’m actually pretty smitten with the silver one – I tend to lean toward silver colored jewelry – and have been looking for the right thing to wear on my wrist. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  37. avatar Crystal Gulley reply

I’m not sure how you could not love the Emily bracelet most?!!!! It’s so pretty! I also love the Alba ring!

I love Modest Peach, and my favorite has been the Emily Cuff (in silver) forever now! So cute.

  39. avatar Rhona reply

My wedding ensemble just would not be complete without the "Something Blue" earrings. They are so delicate and femine. They also have a beautiful sparkle, which would definitely emit that magical glow every woman wants to captivate her groom and guests as she walks down the aisle. It’s simply beautiful and the price is KNOCK OUT reasonable.

I love the ‘Diane Ring’ – super cute and sophisticated! Love Love LOVE the jewelry boxes – so clever!!!

  41. avatar Joy reply

I absolutely love the Joselyn – Silver! such a dreamy ring! its the perfect detail for any clothe combination! So cute and unique <3

Modest Peach pieces are beautiful! My favorite eye candy are the Anne ring & the Emily silver cuff. They are absolutely classic & elegant. Perfect accessories for my wedding. Thanks for an awesome giveaway & good luck everyone!

  44. avatar Rachel reply

I absolutely love the Carrie necklace! It’s perfect for my 40’s inspired wedding gown. My dress is a halter dress with a hip-slung bling belt on the dress. It’s slimming and makes my 5’1" frame look like a model….but the dress is so gorgeous it needs only a hint of some Southern pearly white. The Carrie necklace would compliment my dress—and my three bridesmaids’ dresses! How charming and beautiful!

  45. avatar Heather reply

Thank you for the introduction to Modest Peach- beautiful pieces. I just love the "Emily" cuff in silver. I think it would be a striking piece with my dress which has an organza overlay with a subtle flower design in certain places.

  46. avatar Jessica Brown reply

The beautiful pearl earrings named "The Sweetest Joy" would compliment the single pearl necklace that my fiancé gave me on our first anniversary. I’ve thought about wearing the necklace on our wedding day but have always questioned what earrings I would wear with it. And here all along Modest Peach has been waiting for me to see "the sweetest joy!"

Alright, the Emily silver cuff is right there at the top of my list! As for my wedding ensemble – this would be the perfect look – dogwoods will be on my invitation and will be blooming (if all goes according to plan for my April wedding) at the ceremony, i think this looks very much so like a dogwood which would be a beautiful tie-in and a true feature to my strapless, simple dress!!excited for the discount to modest peach with or without winning!! thank you!

Vibrant blue and sunny yellow were the colors of the day at Jane + Pete’s Florida wedding, planned and designed by Nancy Silivos and Melissa Mackey of Nancy Haute Affairs.  Jeremy and Hara Cook of Cook Images captured the couple’s vows at the bride’s family farm, Panther Creek.  Since the bride’s favorite details from her wedding was the full, wildflower-inspired bouquets designed by SW-favorite, Kebbie Hollingsworth Floral Designs, it only seemed right that we indulge in a little flower power ourselves.  I love Jane’s decision to have each of her bridesmaids carry a flower that represented her unique personality (genius!) and have to agree that ceremony site looks as if it were nestled in a field of wildflowers.  Distressed cowboy boots were especially fitting for a rustic outdoor wedding and the perfect accent to the bridesmaids’ navy Priscilla of Boston frocks.

How did the two of you meet?  Tell us your story.  We met through at mutual friend in Pensacola, Florida. We hung out with the same group of people but had never crossed paths before our first meeting, which was INSTANT love at first sight.
Describe the proposal. Our plans took us to North Carolina for my aunt’s 60th birthday celebration and Pete had hoped to propose by a waterfall. Needless to say, the rain changed that plan and, with all the excitement (and the fact he had told most of the family), he decided to go ahead and propose after we arrived Friday evening. Not knowing anything was going on, it took a while to convince me to go to the hotel where the proposal was going to take place. I was in complete shock when I walked into the hotel room to find candles and rose petals all the way to the back of the room where Pete was standing. The ring was in a journal, which had special meaning to our relationship. I couldn’t have been more excited! My cousin, sisters and future brother-in-law were waiting outside with champagne to celebrate!!!! It was so special to have the entire weekend to celebrate with everyone!
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Surreal, magical and amazing.
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? I had always dreamt about getting married at our family lodge, “Panther Creek,” and my design inspiration for putting the idea together was “rustic romance.” I imagined my day as something very natural, very rustic with lots of candlelight and soft light to give it a very warm, romantic feel.
What was your favorite design element of your big day?  I had so many but I would have to say my favorite element of the ceremony was the chuppah, which was built by my mother-in-law, Lynn and the chuppah quilt which was sewn by my Grandma Minnie and our Aunt Shelia.  I also wore my mother’s veil from 1981, which was very special to me and meant so much that I was able to wear it on my special day.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I didn’t try on many dresses before finding “the one,” and I actually only went to one place in Atlanta. I will never forget the faces of those special people who were there with me as I walked out in THE dress and their mouths dropped. I felt unbelievable in it and, when I looked at their faces, I knew it was the one!
