Over a week ago, we invited our readers to send us their {Virtual Valentine} to their loved one for us to showcase on our blog. In honor of St. Valentines Day (a day earlier…maybe this can get you into the spirit), we have ten readers share with us their Valentine message to their love one. Take it away, Carissa, Katy, Kenzie, Nadia, LeRae, Brenda, Sarah, Patty, Josh, Christine and Tara.

1. Happy Valentine’s Day, Booger! I can’t wait to get hitched and spend the rest of my days with you! From Katy

2. Grant Alan Hutchinson, you are my everything… My best friend, my shoulder to lean on, my soul mate. I am so glad that our paths finally crossed. You make me the happiest girl in the world! And I can’t wait to walk down the aisle on June 5, 2010 and become your wife! I love you best friend! Xoxo Carissa

3. True Love: He made cheesy poses with me while I took our self-portraits on the coast of northern California.

4. I, Nadia, “proposed” to my fiance’ (December 20, 2008) to be his girlfriend on his birthday (May 22, 2008) by sending him to work with gifts for other, taking him to dinner, giving him an iPod with his first 2 downloads being our spiritual song (I Come to the Garden Alone) and our secular song (The Closer I Get to You – the Luther Vandross and Beyonce’ version), placing the 1 Corinthians bracelet on his left arm (we both wore one until he proposed with a ring) and reading the following poem by Susan Polis Schtuz which I send to him occasionally when I feel the need:

I cannot promise you that I will not change
I cannot promise you that I will not have many different moods
I cannot promise you that I will not hurt your feelings sometimes
I cannot promise you that I will not be erratic
I cannot promise you that I will always be strong
I cannot promise you that my faults will not show
But
I do promise you that I will always be supportive of you
I do promise you that I will share all my thoughts and feelings with you
I do promise you that I will give you freedom to be yourself
I do promise you that I will understand everything you do
I do promise you that I will be completely honest with you
I do promise you that I will laugh and cry with you
I do promise you that I will help you achieve all your goals
But
Most of all
I do promise you that I love you

5. To: Benjamin, You trump my dreams. I can’t wait to be your wife and by your side through wins and losses. From LaRae

6. Shane, I’m so excited about you, I look forward to re-discovering you everyday. Thanks for your perseverance. Brenda

7. Ryan Addison, I’ll dance with you forever. I love you. From Sarah Garrison

8. For Richard, who makes my cheeks hurt from all the laughter we share, who I am completely comfortable and secure with, and who loves me for me. Love, Patty

9. My wife, the love of my life. This picture will be with me from this day forward because it captures everything that is great about you. Your smile, your laugh and your overall happiness are some of the reasons I fell in love with you and I will always want to cherish those times. ~Josh

10. Sometimes I wonder what did I do to deserve such an amazing husband. I truly am the lucky one to have found Seth, and am blessed with him in my Life. I have never felt this loved before, our relationship has been a true Miracle to me. I breathe you, Baby. You are my everything. -Christine Berry

11. To: Abby, I think there are lots of people that say they love their siblings but very few that could say that theirs is as selfless as mine. She has given up countless hours to make my wedding a picture of perfection for me. From the initial ideas, countless projects, and always being there for my mini breakdowns and stress that accompanies wedding planning, I could not ask for anything more. I hope this Valentines she knows my appreciation for all she does for me, but most importantly, my love and the true blessing that I feel she is in being my sister! From: Tara McLees

12. They say all good things come to an end but with us I say, it’s only the beginning. You are all amazing women and despite us now all around the country, we will always be friends. I love being your friend. Love ~ Elon Mom

Happy Valentines Day! We hope these ladies and gentleman will inspire you to say all that you want to say to all the love ones in your life.

My Valentine is my betrothed. He is special because he is the only person in the world (besides my dad) that is able to bring me down from those dizzying, frantic heights that I sometimes climb into when the world is overwhelming.Somehow, when all hope seems lost or when things are at their worst, he reminds of of what matters and is able to make me smile again. Can’t explain it… but for that, he deserves heart-shaped pancakes this Saturday… lol!

  2. avatar aqt reply

My fiance is my special valentine of course :) What make him so special is his BIG HEART! I once saw him pick up the tab for a homeless man at a deli shop during the holidays and he had no idea I was watching him from outside. My heart practically melted and it reminds me why I love him so!

  3. avatar Jessica reply

My valentine is my fiance, who bakes cookies for me when I’m sick and always helps me out when I need it.

  4. avatar Amanda reply

My fiance is my valentine! He is special to me for so many reasons. He has always been there for me, and he can read me like a book. I’m not sure I will ever meet anybody who will define love for me the way he has, and always will! He has encouraged me to grow, and is always there to catch me when I fall. He’s my prince charming, without the plastic smile. :)

  5. avatar Victoria reply

My valentine is my fiance, Will–I love him because every night, he emails me a "memory of the day" with a photo he loves of the two of us, and a reason why he loves me. He’s wonderful!

  6. avatar Erika reply

My favorite Valentine is the one I am going to spend the rest of my life with. No one can make me feel the way he does. There has never been anyone in my life to treat me as well as he does. He knows how to make me realize the small things and he can always take all my stress away after a long, horrible day. There is no one in my life that could be my special valentine other that my fiance.

  7. avatar Anita reply

My valentine was patient and waited until I was ready to date him. He’s kind and sweet and shows me every day how much he cares for me. He asked me to marry him at home right after he got the ring because he just couldn’t wait to be my fiance and future husband, I love the way he proposed, even if there isn’t a big fancy story behind it. It was sweet and intimate, and just for me. I love that boy, my valentine.

  8. avatar amelia reply

Like everyone else, my fiancee is my valentine. He’s more than I ever dreamed of. He has exceeded my wildest dreams and loved me more than I ever thought possible. He inspires me to grow. Hell, he inspires everyone to grow… he’s a drug rehab therapist for homeless women. For him, I’d do anything. Climb mountains, slay dragons, shoot down stars…. It’s everything I can do not to spend all my money buying him a present every day.

  9. avatar Staci reply

My three valentines are my soon-to-be fiance and my two dogs. They bring me such joy and cheer me up when I’m down. I couldn’t imagine ever being without them.

My Valentine is, of course, my fiance’. He is special to me because he is the calm in the midst of my storm. He has the ability to make me feel better about any situation, no matter how big or small, silly or serious, life-altering or mundane. He makes me laugh every.single.time.we’re.together. I am so lucky to have him!

  12. avatar Brittany reply

My valentine is the sweetest, gentlest man. He gives the best hugs, does things around the house happily and without my ever having to ask, and he loves me despite my many quirks. We laugh together often. I’m so blessed to be spending the rest of my life with him.

  13. avatar Jenn reply

My valentine is also my fiance. He’s my real-life hero because he’s fighting for our country in Iraq this Valentine’s day. I’m glad to give him up and go it alone because I’m so proud of him and what he’s accomplished in the last year overseas. And to me, that’s really special.

  14. avatar Ginny reply

My Valentine is my finace of five days, he proposed a mere five days ago on my birthday. He is my valentine because he is the most kind and generous person I have ever met. I know, it sounds cliche and stupid, but he really is. He is the one person who tells me that I am "the most beautiful person" he has ever seen, whether or not it’s five in the evening or five in the morning – complete with bedhead. He is also the most wonderful valentine because I was hospitalized yesterday with a horrible migraine and he stayed by my bedside for the eight hours I was admitted. He left work, drove to my side and didn’t utter a single complaint. And, last night he made sure I was safely tucked into bed before leaving for the evening. He even called my parents to conference about my hospital stay, given their home out of state. He is just wonderful and he has proven to me so many times that he is a good, strong, and unbelievably wonderful man. And, for that he is and always will be my valentine.

  15. avatar Rachel reply

My valentine is my fiance and honey, Sam. He has been giving love, support and butterflies from the moment I met him. It has been now over two years and he still thrills me. This may sound silly, but the moment we separate for work in the morning, I can’t wait to see him again that evening. He is the love of my life and I can’t wait for us to take the next step in our lives.

  16. avatar Tyler reply

My valentine’s are my fiance who I met for the first time on valentines day, and my best friend who is the one who set us up! She and I also went out together for the first time ever on valentines day. It is a super important day for me because it is an anniversary day with the two most wonderful people in my life.

My Valentine is my fiance, Bill. We are an older couple, he being 63 and I 53, but he engages my heart with his siliness, devotion and insight. He opens doors, and rubs my feet. Bill lives traditional values of man being the head of the house and I really don’t mind. I’ve had "it all" already – home, children and husband – frankly speaking I was miserable. It’s wonderful having someone who takes care of business all day every day. He works hard to keeps his businesses afloat and robust but he also works just as hard making sure his home is in tip-top condition. Today, Bill & I are closing on our dream home. He managed every single bit of construction because he wanted this home to be perfect – for me – and it is. Bills love fills my heart and feeds my soul.

Although my fiance is about as wonderful as they come, this year, my Valentine is my dad. This will be the last Valentine’s Day before "daddy’s little girl" marries the man of her dreams and starts her own family. My dad has had a couple of health issues this last year and I’ve realized how precious our time is together. I’m hoping that our wedding will strengthen his weakend heart and fill it with love.

What a great giveaway! My valentine is my boyfriend of 7 years. We have the most amazing relationship and I’m so fortunate to have such a selfless man in my life who takes care of me and supports everything I do. Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday and we always make it extra special letting one another know how much we mean to eachother… yet, it’s the simple, every day things that make our love so strong.

  22. avatar Genna reply

Well, my fiance is the obvious choice, but I am going to go with my wonderful Dad. He is the hardest working, nicest and classiest gentleman I know. He has taught me so much about life from "show up 10 minutes early to work and leave 10 minutes late" to how to drive a car. He has put up with me (and my adorable sister) though thick and thin, car wrecks and horrible ex-boyfriends, and for all of those reasons, HE is my valentine!

  23. avatar Zolie reply

My valentine is my fiance. 3 years ago this weekend, we had our first date– on Valentine’s Day! I had been holding out on dating him for 3 years, and finally said, "Well we shouldn’t be alone for Valentine’s Day". Neither of us thought it was a date, but by the end of the night we were both smitten. We continued the tradition of meaningful Valentine’s Day last year when he finally moved to be with me after 2 years of long distance relationship. He drove 14 hours on Valentine’s Day with all of his belongings and showed up with a bouquet of roses for me. Now we’ll never have to be alone on Valentine’s Day! I can’t believe that we’ve been together for 3 years. It feels like just yesterday that we went to that Valentine’s dinner! Honestly, he is the best thing to have ever happened to me…

My valentine is my boyfriend who will some day be my husband. We have discussed this.

My Valentine is my fiance. I’ve been working long hours lately and he has been sweeter than normal! He has been prepping food for me, packing my lunch, bringing me water, and giving me feet rubs. I’ll probably have to work on Valentine’s Day this year and luckily he has been incredibly understanding.

  26. avatar Melissa reply

My fiance is my Valentine. I choose him because he helps me take myself less seriously. When i try and do too many to-do list items on the weekend, he makes me have fun instead and when i just get in a funk he makes jokes or tickles me.

  27. avatar LT reply

I have a fiance, but my Valentine is my mom. :D She simply is a wonderful woman who has been the family’s pillar when my Dad died. She showed me how it is to love someone unconditionally and wholeheartedly. She’s a typical mom in some ways and she did the usual stuff for us when we were young. But still she maintained to be bright and independent woman. We love her dearly and she will always be our Valentine.

  28. avatar Kat reply

My Valentine is my new husband! We’ll be celebrating 9 years as a couple in April and an album of our September wedding would be the perfect gift for him.

My valentine is my fiance who not only loves me for the goof ball I am, but also loves my prissy little dog (even if she isn’t manly).

  30. avatar Jane reply

My Valentine this year is my wonderful boyfriend. He is such an amazing boyfriend, and we are looking forward to getting engaged in the near future. He loves me for who I am. I have never felt so comfortable around anyone in my whole life. He understands me and makes me want to be a better person everyday.

  31. avatar Dom reply

My Valentine is my boyfriend…He always knows just what to say, how to make me smile and feel better… He always has something funny to say and keep me laughing until I cry. What we have is unexplainable, all I know is that I’ve met my match and I can’t image going through this journey with anyone else. He is and always will be my Valentine xo xo xo

  32. avatar Joan reply

My Valentine is smart, sweet, and the funniest human I know. We started dating when I was sixteen years old and I still get excited when he walks through the front door.

  33. avatar Shannon reply

These albums are just BEAUTIFUL! Thank you so much for this giveaway!I’ll be sending my DIY valentine (and oober-sappy love note included) to my fiance this year. We never celebrated V-Day before (you know, the whole "we want to be different than every other couple and celebrate our love EVERY DAY" stance). However, I couldn’t resist this year to follow in the footsteps of so many other lovers who have, for centuries, used this holiday as a way to truly express the importance of mutual support and comfort. I am marrying my fiance because of his enduring love and using this holiday (and many other days) to tell him how much I appreciate him is very exciting!

  34. avatar Maggie reply

My valentine is my momma. I do have a fiance- and I love him very much, and hes been a fantastic v-tine many a times before. This valentine’s day it’s my mothers turn. She has been my saving grace in all of my wedding planning- she keeps me grounded when I get big ideas and picks me up when I start getting burnt out. She’s my DIY-buddy even though she’s DIY-challenged and I couldn’t thank her enough for all of her support. I know I’m hard to get along with at times- often bordering on Brizilla. She embraces all of my non-traditonal ideas even when they don’t jive with her own. I love her to bits- my momma is my valentine.

  35. avatar Sherry reply

I too would normally choose my fiance’ Paul because he is my first love but this is the last year I am going to spend valentine’s day as a Miss. So this year I choose my dad as my valentine. Why? because he knows everything about me, we have always been so close ever since I was little. A lot of girls say they were daddy’s little girl but I have spent more than half of my life next to my daddy, sure I loved to play barbies and dress up but my daddy was the funnest! we went fishing together, we took walks, he helped me learn to ride a bike, drive a car, he taught me what I know about God and the Bible, he has been the worship leader of our home and now he will be walking me down the aisle and giving me away to the man I love. My dad has not said one thing to me about being sad or upset that I will be leaving him soon, in 3 weeks to be exact but everytime I look for a song to play for my dad in the wedding I can just see him standing there next to me tears running down and then I will know I was his valentine since the first time he laid eyes on me.

  36. avatar Nicole Allman reply

My valentine is my fiance Chris. There are so many reasons why he’s special to me, but it’s the little things that I think of most. Like how he waits to make sure I’m safe when he drops me off somewhere. Or how he randomly buys me a spatula with Santa Clauses all over it because he knows how much I love Christmas. He’s just so thoughtful and sweet!

  37. avatar PDXBride reply

I’ll give you one guess about who my Valentine is?? . . . my fiance! He is perfect. He thinks of me all the time, sends me sweet notes, does sweet things for me, he treats me like everyday is Valentines day. What more could you want?

  38. avatar Lisa reply

My valentine this year are my parents. They’ve been going through a tough time in their marriage and were near divorce around Thanksgiving. They’ve slowly made changes in both their lives, had some honest revelations about their personalities and are on the path to rebuilding what they’ve lost in their 30+ years of marriage. They efforts inspire me and give me hope as my finace and I are planning our wedding.

  39. avatar Patty reply

Dear SW, My (first and only Valentine) is Mister R, who is my first love and soon-to-be-hubby. I really don’t deserve how well he treats me…from a hand-made get well card to a call just to say "good night" every night to box containing a bouquet a flowers on my doorstep. I am so blessed to know someone who is sacrificial, loving, and who can make me laugh. This Valentine’s day we’re going to eat at a Brazilian BBQ and go to Monterey Bay to take engagement photos. So romantic! Love, Patty -Ps. I would love to win this prize to give as a "thank you" to one of my many friends who are helping me out for the wedding.

  40. avatar Safiya reply

My fiance is my valentine. He is special because he loves our kitties almost as much as he loves me!

  41. avatar Shannon Coleman reply

My fiance is the best and I can’t wait to marry him. We have been doing long distance our entire relationship. While most would think it’s difficult, it’s not when you have a fiance like mine. He texts me every morning so it is there when I wake up. He has lunch delivered for me sometimes. He had a pizza delivered to my house and asked them to arrange the pepperonis in a heart. He always finds little things to do to make sure I know he’s not here but he’s not far away and always thinking of me.I can’t wait to marry him.

  42. avatar Brandi Liberty reply

My valentine is my fiance’. Not a moment goes by that I don’t think about how happy he has made me. He is loving and kind and knows how to make me smile. We have our share of arguments, as any couple does, but he has a way to forgive & forget which allows us to move on with our lives. He is amazing in every sense of the word. I am eternally grateful for having met him and I am forever blessed to have him in my life.

  43. avatar Regina reply

My valentine sweetheart is my fiance. He’s hilarious and a good snuggler to boot!

I am lucky to have 3 Valentines! My wonderful boyfriend of ten years, who is my best friend and the love of my life. He is my big valentine who also gave me our 2 little valentines, our 2-year old boy JC and our 4-month old boy JP! The three of them are my life!

  45. avatar Caroline reply

This year my valentine is my mom- she has been working so hard helping me plan my wedding while I am consumed with work and school- she is amazing! This is my last Valentine’s Day before my wedding so I am going to spend some quality time with her this Saturday.

My Valentine is my fiance’ Gregory Oliver Moses. There are many things about Gregory that make him special, not only to me, but to others. I believe that my acknowledgements per my dissertation summarize how special he is to me. It reads as follows:What is right in front of you and yet is impossible to see? The answer is atoms. An atom is the smallest particle of matter that can exist. How did people figure out atoms existed when they are so small they can’t be seen? They used the scientific method. They came up with theories which explained the facts, and then tested the theories with experiments to see if they worked. Bit by bit, all the evidence piled up until the atomic theory was the only good way to explain how matter worked. In that regard, the following individuals and groups are the theory which help to explain how I, the atom, work and matter…To my NEUTRON, my constant. God sent the most unlikely to me at the most unlikely time. Thanks for being my Pollyanna. Because we have been called to a higher standard, may we continue to Plan Prayerfully, Prepare Purposefully, and Pursue Persistently, so that we can “publically announce what we privately already know.”

my valentine is my dear fiance, a faithful, gentle, intelligent, and kind man who has stuck by my side through all of experiences of life we’ve shared together. we have carried each other through the past several years, which included his father being diagnosed with cancer and my own diagnosis of a painful chronic disease. we’ve laughed and cried together through it all, and have grown up so much since we’ve been together. i appreciate that even when i’m in a foul mood because of the way i physically feel and i don’t treat him the way i should, he tenderly cares for me and makes me feel better… and likewise, when he comes home exhausted from a day of grad school, i stroke his head and let the stresses of the day roll away. he is so special to me because i can’t imagine a better person to spend my life with, and i look forward to the day (in precisely four and a half months) when we become husband and wife :)

My valentine is my fiance Jared. He is so special to me bc of his love and heart for God and he lets me hold his hand the way I like (with my thumb tucked between the palms of our hands.)

  49. avatar Sherin reply

no big surprise here, my valentine is my fiance, mostly because he brings cupcakes over when I’m sad, cooks dinner when I’m tired and makes me smile when I am sad :).

  50. avatar Jaclyn Rickwald reply

My boyfriend is my valentine. The way he loves me is amazing. He puts me first and foremost in every decision he makes and my needs above his. He surprises me with the littlest most amazing/ thoughtful things. He continues to make me fall deeper in love with him everyday. I never in a million year thought I would find someone like him. If I have a man like him any girl who has patience can find a man just as amazing. All I hope is that I treat him with as much love and adoration as he does to me. I could never want anything more.

  51. avatar Desiree reply

My Valentine is my best friend. He drives me crazy but I would go insane without him. He thinks I’m beautiful without my makeup and laughs when I pout. He is my equal that I look up to, knows me better than I do, but we will never stop learning about each other. He is, of course, my betrothed.

  52. avatar Blythe reply

These albums are truly gorgeous…what a beautiful piece to display on our coffee table! My valentine doesn’t get one day out of the year to hear how much he makes my world go round….to take one day out of the whole year to tell him I love him would mean not giving the man that loves me the credit he deserves–working 7 days a week through day, evening, on call, and over night shifts, my valentine is a first year emergency medicine resident and an active duty captain in the Army. I couldn’t be prouder of him as he works himself to the bone to form the life he wants to give me and our future family. Even when he’s the most exhausted and coming off of working a 20 hour shift, he still makes time to hear about wedding planning updates. So one day of the year isn’t enough for him….he’s my valentine every day of my life.

My valentine is my fiancee, who has been with me through thick and thin for six years. I have a crazy life sometimes and he is my support, the one who keeps me grounded and yet encourages me to never slow down. We’re both so grateful to be able to grow together as a couple and as friends, a process we’ve both been enjoying so much over the years, no matter what that means.

  54. avatar Katasha reply

My valentine is a guy that I literally grew up with. . .same schools, same neighborhood. We both ran in parallel circles but never connected until 14 years later! He is the first man where I have said, to myself, of course, "Okay–I can follow your lead." If you know me, that’s impressive. It’s his quiet strength, leadership and compassion that bowled me over.

  55. avatar Stephanie reply

My valentine is my boyfriend. Sometimes it seems immature to call him a boyfriend. It seems a little trite, as if we only see each other after 3rd period or at the pep rally. But I call him my boyfriend because the word itself still makes me feel giddy, kind of like when I was a second-grader and asked a cute classmate to be my boyfriend. It was before being around boys was awkward, before I had insecurities about my body, before I wondered if his mother would like me, before I entered the world of over-analyzing a delayed text message. With my Valentine, my boyfriend, none of these things matter, for the first time since my second grade boyfriend and I "broke up" at the end of summer camp. Watching him sleep or listening to him talk about budget analysis or long car rides up I-95 make me feel giddy, just like in the second grade. He makes every other guy in my past seem insignificant and unworthy of the title. They were all just lovers and friends and "dudes". But my boyfriend, he’s forever.

My Sweetheart is Paul, and I love him for protecting all of us and still having a huge heart. His poem to me: "Be someone Special", That’s what the poster said, I always thought I was just that, So onward I read. See exotic places, Visit Foreign Lands, From Singapore’s Bustling Streets, To the Mid East’s Desert Sands. The sailor travels around the world, to places few folks go. But at home he’s left a wife and kids, the family he doesn’t know. She has fought the Doctor’s, the repairs, and paid the bills. He has been a travelling, seeing sights, enjoying thrills. The sailor sails around the world, He’s there in times of strife, but make no mistake about it, the "Someone Special" is his wife. We are celebrating the engagement of our daughter as we celebrate our own 33rd anniversary on Feb 14.

My Valentine is my fiancee, Alex. This is the man who rubs my feet after I come home from work exhausted, it’s the man who through the length of our long distance relationship would sit on the phone with me until I feel asleep every night and sing me Johnny Cash lullabys, its the man who made all my dreams come true 6 months ago today by asking me to be his wife. Happy Valentine’s Everyone!!!!

She is the girl of my dreams and she is so special to me that she has me checking out Southern Weddings to help her get inspiration for our special day. I don’t think twice about it—she is simply my favorite thing in the world….

My valentine is my fiance Joe. He often stops by my office to take me out to lunch and when he comes to the office he will make sure he speaks to every co-workers in the office just to see how their day is going. Also, twice a week he will play our favorite songs, move the coffee table and we dance the night away. I know it is time to dance when he greets me at the door with a glass of wine when I come home from a long day of work. We dance and laugh and toast to spending the rest of our lives together. I know my life with him will be full of joy and laughter. He truly is my best friend.

My Valentine is my Fiance! It’s our last valentine’s together before we’ll be married! He’s so special because he really understands me and makes me feel like "me". We can just relax and be silly together. I love that he loves me for me!

I have two Valentine’s this year: my amazing fiance, and soon to be husband in August, and my 88 year old Papa, whom I absolutely adore and love spending time with.

My Valentine is special to me because Valentine’s Day is not a big deal for us, as we really do show love for each other all year round. Being romantic is part of life so while we celebrate VDay its not really that different from all the other wonderful times we spend together.

My Valentine in my fiance, Patrick. In the midst of scrimping and saving every extra dollar we have for our wedding next year, I told him not to worry about getting me anything for my birthday or Valentine’s Day (my b-day is February 12th), and I absolutely meant it. When I came home from work yesterday, there was a lovely bouquet of flowers waiting for me on the coffee table. I was completely surprised and touched.

My darling husband is my Valentine. He isn’t the most smooth and romantic man in the world – but he is faithful, loving, loyal and trustworthy… and to be honest, I’ll take that over Rico Sauve any day! Quick story to demonstrate his cuteness: I told him one day that I *hint hint* love getting flowers… that it just makes my day. For quite a few weeks after that, he’d bring me home potted plants… because I guess to him flowers = potted plants? Haha, I finally had to delicately tell him that *sometimes* I like flowers in a bouquet so I can put them into a vase. The look on his face was priceless – it was the "oooohhhhh….I got it." He’s the best. PS: I’ll let you all know if I get potted plants or a bouquet on Valentine’s Day!

My valentine is my boyfriend of 5 years. We met my freshman year of college and since then he’s given me the best 5 years of my life. The last year for me has been pretty rough, my sister is in the army and was deployed to Iraq the week after Christmas. It’s honestly been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through, everyday worrying if anything has happened or having mini panic attacks everytime there is a death in Iraq. My boyfriend has gotten me through this whole situation. I don’t know how I could have handled this if he had not been in my life, comforting me and assuring me that everything will be ok. He’s always been a steady rock for me and for that I’ll always feel blessed and thankful.

My Valentine is my fiance, Ryan. He’s the peanut butter to my jelly and the reason I get out of bed each day. After 5 Valentines days together, this one is extra special since we’re newly engaged!! I’m looking forward to forever with the man of my dreams, complete with a lifetime of Valentines Days together!!

I’m a nut about Valentine’s Day! Its by far my favorite holiday, and each year I giggle with anticipation and sigh lovingly at the pinks and reds that temporarily paint store windows. Come February 14th, I turn our house into the land of hearts and spend too much money sending treats to everyone I know…therefore I have several Valentines: my husband Joshy for when he gives me that gushy feeling, my best friend JoEllen for putting up with my ridiculousness, my best friend Devon for her ability to keep me grounded, and my little sister Sara Elizabeth, just because.

My husband is my Valentine–he’s always special to me but today he is extra-special because he spent all day home from working taking care of me since I’m sick (and being very patient, and then he brought me chocolates :) ).

This is the first Valentine’s Day I have spent apart from my Valentine, James, since I met him. He graduated last year and is working hard a couple states away, preparing for our life together. He is the most amazing man I have ever known. We met as members of the Ballroom Dance Team at my school, and I fell in love with him as we waltzed across the room, my feet barely touching the ground, and my heart soaring. Earlier today I was on the phone with him, crying because I miss him so much. James began to tell me about all these memories of me and us he cherishes, such as holding hands for the first time, our awkward first non-kiss (I totally thought he was going for my cheek– he wasn’t), our real first kiss (and how I giggled, hugged him, and ran up to my dorm door after it), the first time we said "I love you" to each other, how we always hold hands when we are in the car together, how I sometimes sleep-talk when I fall asleep while on the phone with him, how I cry at the sight of three-legged dogs and beautiful sunsets, and how he feels like the luckiest man in the world simply walking through campus hand in hand with me. I continued crying, but now it was because I was so happy. He made today a Valentine’s Day to remember even, or perhaps especially, in his absence. I am looking forward to him being the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night. For now, though, I take the French saying to heart: "La distance est a l’amour ce que le vent est au feu: elle atisse les grands et eteint les petits". Translation: "Distance is to love what wind is to fire: it strengthens/enlarges the great (big) ones and puts out the small ones". It’s important to remember that distance, although at times incredibly hard, can be a blessing to a relationship. It shows the couple that their love has the big picture in mind, not instant gratification or selfishness. It shows them that they can work together through tough times and be better and stronger for it on the other side. I am so very lucky to be experiencing my Great Love with James.

My Valentine is my fiance. This year, our eighth Valentine’s Day together, we celebrated with his parents, as they came in town to see him run the Austin Marathon the next day. We have already been together through sickness and health, richer and poorer, and I love him more everyday.

My valentine is my amazing boyfriend that has been dropping hints about proposing any day now. For the big day this year he built me a bike! We both have little to no money, so his time and effort on it made it so much better :)

My valentine is my best friend and my fiance, Winston. What makes him so special to me is that he is not affraid of true intimacy. He tells me in different ways every day why he loves me. Whether its verbal, or a kiss on the head, or a long hug. Sometimes I cannot belive how lucky I am to have him remind me that I am a special person too :)

My Valentine is my fiance, Eric. Because of many things, but of recent note: On the day I was coming home from a long trip abroad, he biked all over Boston to get my favorite snacks and wines. Then, when I missed the train home, he and my friend drove over 300 miles to pick me up.

My 1st valentine is my boyfriend of 3.5 years. He made me breakfast in bed with fresh fruits dipped in chocolate topped with tulips. Then at night he dragged me to a supermarket to shop for ingredients so we can cook dinner together, but only to find that he dragged me into this amazing restaurant with reservations for two. What he did that day and his continual support makes him my valentine. My second valentine is my best friend Sunny. She’s constantly baking for others and laughing. The tiramisu she baked for valentine’s day is amaaaaazing. She’s also getting married soon. We started our own baking business (pictures at http://picasaweb.google.com/joynsunny ) to practice our culinary skills so we can be ready to bake her wedding cake!

Welcome back to our second Karen Tran Thursday!  If you missed the first post, be sure to check it out here.

Love is in the air! Champagne, chocolates and roses are the common things we associate with this amorous day. In the spirit of Valentine’s day, I thought I would share my own interpretations of ‘romance’. I know red has long been a symbol of romance, love and courage, but one cannot deny the sense of romance created by lace, sequins, garden roses and feathers!  Here we used a lace sequin overlay from {Wildflower Linens} along with their chair sleeves. Beautiful blooms of white majolica spray roses, ‘hollywood’ roses nestled amongst white anemones, white lady slippers and hydrangeas set in a lace trimmed box. Light feathers soften this romantic palette as we tie everything together with a place setting trimmed with a touch of gold.  Fancy individual cakes with ornate scrolls, feature handbags and pearls conjure up images an old-fashioned afternoon ‘tea time’.  What floral and decor elements speak your love language?
