This stunning coastal wedding comes to us from {Mary Basnight Photography}. The Tennessee couple, Ashley + Jeremy, decided on a destination wedding in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The two were married in the {Corolla Chapel} with a reception that followed in {The Sanderling Resort}. The breathtaking bouquets and boutonnieres are by Jim Gray of {The City Florist}. Check out more from Ashley + Jeremy’s big day on Mary’s {BLOG}.  Thank you so much, Mary, for sharing these gorgeous images with us!

The weather was: In the days leading up to the wedding it was rainy and windy. However, it ended up being amazing the day. We could not have asked for a more perfect day.
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? We wanted to create an elegant beach wedding affair under lit tents, with high floral arrangements, that drew from the colors and scenery of the landscape.
What colors did you choose for your wedding? We tried to use colors that captured the essence of a sunset at the beach. So we used a lot of variations of reds, yellows and oranges.
Describe your wedding flowers: The bridesmaid bouquets and centerpieces were composed of mango calla lily, leonidas rose, terra cotta rose, green hypericum, mini orchids and seeded eucalyptus.
Describe your wedding cake: The cake was circular white seashell design decorated with white chocolate shells. It was four tiers, all iced with white Italian butter cream icing. Each tier was a different kind of cake. The top anniversary tier was a yellow sponge cake with Italian butter cream filling. The nest layer was yellow sponge cake with strawberry butter cream filling. The following was a yellow sponge cake with white Italian butter cream filling. The bottom layer was chocolate cake with truffle filling.
How did the two of you meet? We met while both attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. We both played sports in college, so we tended to be around the same people and places.
What attracted me to my husband was: His dry sense of humor, kind heart, and good looks.
What attracted me to my wife was: Her charming personality, beauty, and complete understanding of me.
A date we went on that we’ll always remember: It was our first date when we met in January 2003. We went out to eat with a bunch of other athletes, and then ended up playing laser tag. It was one of the funniest dates ever.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Our band, {Leggz}. They were fantastic, and everybody could relate to the 60’s and 70’s music they played. We only wish they could have played longer.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? Trying to scale down the guest list and keep some sort of budget. It was very easy to get carried away.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Being pronounced husband and wife in front of all our close friends and family.
Scariest moment? Finding out the rental company was spending the night, in order to watch over the tents for the reception, because of the strong winds we were having the night before.
Funniest moment? The funniest moment would probably have to be when we both tried to escort each other out of the church after the ceremony. We now have 50 pictures or so of that fumble.
The most unexpected event on our wedding day was: The unexpected performance by the legendary rock band 8-Tease.
How was your wedding different than the way you’d always imagined it would be? It was better than I could have imagined. However, the wedding went by so fast. We only wish it could have lasted longer.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Remember to relax and enjoy the process. Also don’t take forever to make decisions. It only makes things more complicated.

Congratulations Ashley + Jeremy!  We wish you a lifetime of happiness~
