Kate + Luke had a perfect summer wedding. The talented {Megan W} took these wonderful photos. From Megan: “I just loved the simplicity of the whole day. There were plenty of well thought-out details in this wedding, but they were more like lovely, subtle touches that
just kept the emphasis on the real importance of the day. The ceremony and
reception were held on the hillside of a family friend’s land that overlooked a
breathtaking valley of Wisconsin countryside. Simply put, Kate and Luke’s
wedding was laid back, comfortable, and inviting, filled with laughter and love.
To note a couple favorite details of the day, I’d choose the handpicked
wildflowers from the fields that were used for center pieces, and the
modern/vintage style of the bridal party wardrobe.”

Thank you so much, Megan, for sharing this wedding with us! (And a very special thanks to {Cathy + David Photography} for introducing us to Megan!) To see more of Kate + Luke’s sweet summer fete, check out Megan’s {BLOG}. Enjoy~ Rachel

I am obsessing over this wedding. The colors are beautiful and everything seems so calming and fresh. The bride looks divine and the simplicity of her dress really completes the look perfectly. When I see the photo of the first kiss, I get that "take a deep breath and take it all in" feeling. Great feature!

I love it when photographs make you wish you were there! I wish I could hold that bride’s bouquet to inspect it closer and smell it. I can also almost taste that cake. YUM- ME!!

Wanwisa, of the soon-to-be-launched Bliss NY, introduced us to the newly engaged Michelle from Texas last week. Welcome back to Part II of Wanwisa Wednesday! Enjoy~

One of my fondest girl-bonding memories is catching Sophia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette with Michelle a couple years ago. We knew the movie, more than anything, would be two plus hours of pure aesthetic heaven – scene after scene of the most sensational visual design from costumes to the magnificent Hall of Mirrors of Versailles (not to mention a couple shots of gorgeous Parisian pastries and desserts).

Inspired by our outing, I designed Michelle’s second inspiration board to have a very Marie Antoinette – Cosmopolitan – Parisian feel. Michelle has Houston’s Petroleum Club in mind as one of her reception venue options and I thought it would be a great location for this theme. The ballroom has a grand feel with large chandeliers and long golden curtains.

Remembering a lovely wedding design by Ceci New York, a dusty pink and gold palette seems a perfect fit. Ceci New York created a “grand vision of lavish Versailles” using fans as a motif for favor tags as well as escort cards. Golden menus, rolled up and tied in blush satin ribbons were placed on each place setting to match golden rimmed stemware and gold utensils. The wedding cake is perhaps my favorite element in this inspiration board– a classic Macaron Croquembouche designed by Ladurée. (SW Editor-in-Chief Lara’s favorite!)

Keeping in mind that Michelle is not a frilly, pink gal, I chose simple and elegant pink and gold stationery from Martha Weddings. Sophisticated gowns from Lazaro for both the bride and wedding party add sophistication and a modern cosmopolitan touch. Delicious! More to come next week~ Wanwisa

Oh, the second I saw that movie I turned around and bought another ticket (this was the first movie I saw with my fiance). It is the inspiration for how I want everything in my life to look so I knew when I got engaged that that would be the direction I would go. I’ve been planning for a year and a half and our wedding is in two months. I’ve been collecting the most exquistie pink and gold and vintage finds for so long now that you can’t even walk in my guest bedroom. The anticipation of walking into the reception and seeing all of my hard work put together is almost more than I can bear. I think this board is beautiful and it is exactly perfect fo us frilly, over-the-top types. Stunning.

Welcome back for Part II!  Be sure to check out Kelly’s {BLOG} for more of Kelly + Justin’s big day.

What was the design inspiration for your wedding? The
beautiful mountain setting and the surrounding architecture from the
Eseeola Lodge inspired a refined style. We let our flowers add the
color to the brown and green palette accented with silver.
Describe your wedding flowers: I
chose lush arrangements of pink peonies, white peonies, coral and pink
roses, pops of yellow and white hydrangea. The Bridesmaids bouquets
were very colorful and featured fiddle-head ferns to incorporate
chocolate brown. My bouquet was all pink and white peonies – my
favorite flower. The men’s boutonnières were pink orchids and green
berries. The table arrangements featured a mixture of high and low and
silver and glass bases.
Describe your wedding cake: Our
wedding cake was a 4 layer cake alternating vanilla bean and lemon
layers. The butter cream icing was to die for and I ate it by the
spoonful at the tasting! It was a simple design – white with swiss dots
at the bottom of each layer and a custom designed monogram on the
middle layer. I chose a large pink peony to top off the cake. For
Justin’s grooms cake I had his favorite bottle of wine re-created.

What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? Having two sets of opinions.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? The first dance, Jamie McLean covered “Two” by Ryan Adams.

Three adjectives that describe the day are: perfect, beautiful, and FUN!
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Don’t
feel overwhelmed, take everything one step at a time, remember that you
are planning you wedding and don’t forget about the Marriage side of it
and the real meaning behind the day – two people coming together and
committing their lives to one another.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? We
are looking forward to settling in to the married life and buying a
home together. We love adventure and surviving our honeymoon was the
first step towards a very bright future!

Congratulations, Kelly + Justin!

Peonies are one of my favorite flowers because of their delicate color and texture. What a beautiful idea for a cake topper.

I was a florist once so I’ve had my share of wedding set-up experience. It always seemed that the people who should be having the most fun were the most stressed. With that in mind, we concentrated on FUN as well. Love the floral work! I nice mix of traditional colors with country garden styling…nice touch!
