Pear & Thorn Productions is the love child of a spontaneous, Southern, tree-hugging Tennessee girl and a too-smart-for-his-own-good Florida boy. Together, they create beautiful, documentary-style wedding films that balance technical with organic, geometric with fluid, and center it all around love. We don’t make love stories; we capture them and give them a voice.

Our clients have become some of our best friends in our few short years of business, and that’s the greatest of all of our achievements in our minds!

How I got into weddings: I (Sam) was a documentary photographer and video journalist, and was asked by a close friend to shoot some video at their wedding. The resulting video was nothing short of amazing, and requests came pouring in. We had so much fun in that first year, we decided we had to make it a full-time gig. We’re happy as clams and the rest is history!
Favorite thing about weddings in the South? There’s nothing better than a Southern wedding. Our couples are no-fuss, recipe-trading, the real wanna-get-to-know-ya types, and that makes our job SO much fun. Being able to let my Southern accent out and talk favorite Southern vacay destinations is a pretty big plus too :)
Favorite part of a wedding day? My favorite moment of a wedding day is the first moment the bride and groom get to be alone together, usually right after the first look or right after the ceremony. I like to sneak around the corner and film because it truly is, in my mind, the purest, most uninhibited moment of the day.
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? Take it all in–every moment you spend together is precious, so enjoy every second you have.
