Mount Ida Farm and Vineyard

State: Virginia
Category: Venue

The countryside around Charlottesville, Virginia is brimming with picturesque settings and gorgeous vineyards, but Mount Ida is one of our absolute favorites! We love that they offer multiple options that capture all the magic of those Blue Ridge views (including mountains, a lake, a vineyard, and historic 18th Century property) for one of the most breathtaking wedding backdrops in the South.

Mount Ida Farm now offers two distinct exclusive and private venues for weddings and private events. For those dreaming of a grand historic manor home and private lakeside ceremony site replete with a spectacular gazebo, the Mount Ida estate and event barn offer the perfect ceremony and reception location. But if panoramic mountain views in a rustic-chic location is desired, our most recent addition, The Lodge, provides the perfect venue.

How you got into weddings: After years of Mount Ida Reserve strictly being an angus cattle farm, our team decided the property was way too gorgeous not to show the world. Our Event Barn (which was originally used for cattle auctions) underwent a makeover and is now the gorgeous venue that we know and love! After a few years of stunning events at the Event Barn, we decided to renovate our other cattle barn (originally a 1900s horse stable) which we now know and love as “The Lodge”!
Your favorite thing about weddings in the South: We LOVE the way Southern weddings place such a strong importance on family. It’s no surprise that weddings are a wonderful excuse to get the whole gang together again, but it will never get old watching relatives reunite for such an exciting occasion!
Your favorite part of a wedding day: The dancing! The ceremony is done, dinner has been served, and the cake has been cut. Now it is finally the time for the bride and groom to let loose and CELEBRATE!
The best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms: Hire professional vendors that you can trust! It truly does help to hire vendors that are on your venue’s preferred vendors list. These are people who know the ins and outs of the venue and will be able to run the show on the day of. Plus, a lot of the time those vendors have worked together before. TEAMWORK makes the DREAM WORK!
Your favorite Southern city: Charlottesville, of course!
