Southern Weddings

Hello! I’m Liz of Heirloom Collective. We are a small group of photojournalists who have spent our careers anticipating real, once-in-a-lifetime moments for top magazines and newspapers across the country. We adore beautiful, artistic portraits, but our favorite images are usually unscripted, authentic moments of connection between the couple and their loved ones. We strive to capture the moments of love and joy that tell the story of a couple’s wedding day, creating images that can become family heirlooms.

Things you’d write home to your Momma about: It is always wonderful to see one of our weddings featured on a national blog and or in print. However, my proudest moments come when reading thank you notes from our couples. Their gratitude makes all the work feel lighter and is incredibly humbling.
Location/Coverage: North Carolina, Louisiana, and worldwide
Favorite thing about weddings in the South? I love boots under elegant wedding gowns, and couples who aren’t afraid to get messy, tromping through fields and swamps to get the best photos.
Favorite part of a wedding day? My favorite part of the wedding day is when we whisk the couple away for portraits, just the two of them. Sometimes, it is the only time they get alone throughout the wedding festivities. We walk with them to the most beautiful places, and are witness to the joy they take in one another.
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? Try to be present on your wedding day. Take a few breaks throughout the day to look around and feel gratitude for the love that surrounds you.
Dream travel destination? On the top of the list are Iceland and Peru. But honestly, I want to go everywhere.
Early bird or night owl? I wish I was an early bird because I love the quiet twilight before sunrise, but I am forever a night owl.
Favorite pie flavor? Ginger and peach. Basically the two best flavors in the world.
