As some of you may know, all of our past real wedding features (hundreds of them!) are organized neatly in our Real Wedding gallery. You can sort by color or state… or my personal favorite, Southern Thang. Southern Thangs options include pearls, pies, and plantations, but the most popular by far is bow ties — and for good reason! Southern gents love their bows. If you’re looking for the perfect accessory to set off your gent’s wedding day look, the options can be overwhelming. We’ve narrowed it down to a few of our favorite retailers in today’s Southern Weddings TV episode!

All of these sources and more can be found in the appendix of the Southern Weddings Planner!

We’d love to answer YOUR questions on future episodes, so if there’s anything you’re wondering at all, even if it seems small or very specific to you, we’d love to hear! Leave your question in the comments and we’ll get to it in a future video.

It’s no secret that bow ties are one of our very favorite things, and hands down our favorite Southern groom accessory. More than one SW significant other has converted to bow tie-wearing for formal occasions at our influence, and we hope some of our lovely brides have had the same success! ;) Whether your groom can rock a bow tie any day of the week, or he’s kindly giving into your request on your wedding day, we are tickled pink to introduce a brand new program by our friends at High Cotton that we think you’re both going to love!

Just in time for wedding season, High Cotton has launched their Home Try-On program, a free service in which you can choose five bow ties that will be shipped to your door, yours to try on and test out for five days. This makes it easier than ever to coordinate bow ties with bridesmaid dresses and wedding color swatches–High Cotton has even used popular bridesmaid dress lines, like J. Crew and David’s Bridal, as inspiration, creating bow ties that will coordinate beautifully with their signature colors.

Post your options on social media with the hashtag #highcottonathome for feedback from stylish friends and the High Cotton team (and maybe even the Southern Weddings gals!). Once you’ve chosen your favorite, pack the bow ties back up in the High Cotton box, stick on the prepaid label, and buy your bow tie of choice online. Easy as pie!

To celebrate this exciting launch, High Cotton has generously offered a free bow tie to the first 50 SW grooms who choose to outfit their groomsmen in High Cotton after using the Home Try-On program! Use the code SWMAG at checkout on an order of at least four items to get the groom’s bow tie for free!

I grew up recognizing that the only way to dress nice was to dress nice, starting with my grandfather. Besides storytelling and cooking, my grandpa was always a sharply dressed man. He would silently make a statement with his freshly-shined shoes to his perfectly-matching bow tie. Seeing this picture immediately reminded me of him. The second bow tie from the top on the left, the light green seersucker, was just like one he wore every Easter. Seeing it filled me with memories and delight; I would love to be able to give a similar bow tie to my husband, who I believe shares my grandfather’s knack for dressing well. Bow ties are the focus of any sharply-dressed man’s outfit; there’s never too many to have! Love!
