Exciting things are happening in the Southern Weddings office. Sure, y’all know that we’re plugging away making a magazine, but every week, we’re quietly celebrating each pre-launch press milestone we hit and anxiously awaiting the day we can share V5 with you. We are in the final days of our pre-press edits and ready to send this puppy off on Friday!

You know how we roll around here, y’all. Every celebration comes with loads of sweet tea, high fives and a giveaway on the blog! We wrangled up more bow ties and neck ties than our hearts could imagine — each one a part of our photo shoot prop family — and could think of no better home for them than resting on your dapper gents’ collars.

Every week from now until the magazine hits news stands around the South and beyond, we’re giving away two ties a week to two lucky winners!

To Enter: Leave a comment below telling us which bow tie or neck tie calls to you.

Win: Your choice of tie from the Southern Weddings photo shoot prop closet!

Good luck, y’all!

I am a sucker for a southern guy in a bow tie! My guy would be happy with any of these options, but I am drawn to the second one from the bottom in the left column– the purplish/blue plaid. Thanks for sharing these with your readers!

  11. avatar Ashleigh reply

LOVING the gingham bow tie or the blue/green checked one (5th from the top)! We just got engaged (eeek! I’m getting MARRIED!) and are trying to decide on our colors and ties vs. bow ties so this would certainly help with the decision making as well as making my groom-to-be look handsome while we decide!

  12. avatar Shelby reply

So many daper bow ties! Although, I must say my eyes are drawn to that blue gingham beauty. What a more southern way to bring out my beau’s blue eyes than with gingham!?

So hard to choose….I think the one that best embodies our wedding theme is the bow tie 2nd from the bottom on the right, a combination of southern sophistication for Charleston where my fiance is a chef and English hunt country for Charlottesville where I am in school at UVA.

  69. avatar Kelly reply

The morning of our wedding I intend to wake up early in anticipation (I do it for client’s weddings, so I can’t imagine how I wouldn’t do it for my own! :), enjoy some coffee and toast on our screened-in porch (gazing out at the fields on my family’s farm), and eagerly wait as all of my six bridesmaids arrive to get prettified upstairs, drink mimosas , and listen to the Wedding Day Playlist I’ve been compiling for months! I took every song that mentions “I’m gonna get married!” Or “I met the man I’m gonna marry!”, lots of songs from the Father of the Bride Soundtrack, and staple songs we’re incorporating in our ceremony and reception. I made one for my best friend for her wedding June 24th, too!

But, before we finish getting gussied up, we are arranging a quick run over to the wedding guest luncheon, to grab a couple ham biscuits before the main event! Even if we have to blindfold the groom, you couldn’t make me miss out on a biscuit on my big day!

The morning of my wedding I’m waking up and going down to the hotel’s gym for a “wog” (part walk, part jog…I try!) and then walking to the nearest Starbucks for a treat :) After that it’ll be makeup and hair and photos with the wedding party before the ceremony begins!

Then I will quickly get out of bed and do my song and dance, because my life is a musical. Then i will have coffee, breakfast, mimosas with my girls and a lot of laughs (trying to hold back the tears) I am almost crying just thinking about it… how will I ever hold them back??

The morning of my wedding day, I’ll wake up early even though I will want to sleep in late so a few more hours will pass making time closer to when I’ll walk down the aisle to begin a new life with Blake, my amazing fiance. Yes, I’ll begrudgingly wake up early and then remind myself to be nice, even though it’s early and I don’t do mornings, it is after all my wedding day and I should soak it all in. By the time I eat breakfast with my bridesmaids, I won’t have to remind myself as my early-morning-monster self vanishes. Besides, I have the best kind of girls who can make me laugh at any ungodly hour! Everything will start to sink in by now, and because I am a sentimental person, this is the time I’ll feel grateful for my friends who are there with me on my wedding day and the first tears of the day will be shed as my heart will just swell with happiness. After breakfast, I’ll remember my Plum Pretty Sugar robe and dash upstairs to put it on so I can get ready for my Big Day. When I come back downstairs, my bridesmaids will ooh and ahh over how pretty it looks. I’ll smile and tell them I’m so glad they like it because I bought each of them a robe to get ready in, too! Then, I’ll give them all their bridesmaids’ gifts. Of course, we’ll take pictures in them and then turn on some music so we can start what I’m sure we’ll deem cleverly “The Getting Ready Party.” My grandmother, who is a retired hairdresser and has done my hair my whole life, will once more do my hair. I’m sure it will be a special moment for us both and I’ll want it photographed so I’ll be able to look back on that moment forever. Once we’re all ready as far as hair and make-up goes, we’ll head down to the venue, a gorgeous old cotton mill in downtown Augusta GA right next to the Augusta Canal. From there, my mom and I will discuss last minute details and have a moment to ourselves full of big smiles and tears even if that means re-doing our make-up. Now, it’s dress time! I’ll put on my gown, try not to cry this time but it will be hard not to in front of my friends and family members present. So we’ll do another touch up, no big deal! My fiance and I have decided we’ll do a first look. At first, I didn’t understand why people did them, I always wanted that special moment walking down the aisle. Someone explained it to me, though, as having that time where it’s only the two of you and no one else. The rest of the day will be full of guests congratulating, pictures, and spending time talking and dancing, so we decided we would want that quiet time before the celebrating began! From this point on, the ceremony begins and I’ll try my best to make mental pictures but I’ll only notice Blake. For the rest of my life, I’ll be the happiest woman because of him!

The next day, we’ll start early with breakfast and a very special bottle of champagne that was gifted to me as an engagement gift from one of the bridesmaids. We’ll get ready with hair and make up then head over to the historical estate where the wedding will be held and relax in the bridal rooms, the gardens, the greenhouses and take lots and lots of photos.

Since I am not getting married until 6:30 p.m., my uncle rented my bridesmaids and I a suite at a historic house. I plan on enjoying mimosas (sparkling grapejuice for my sister-in-law who is giving us the greatest gift of another niece or nephew), having a relaxing prewedding dance session, and saying some prayers before the big day.

The morning of my wedding, I would like to think I’ll have everything finished and all the loose ends tied up, but knowing me, I’ll be running around trying to paint my toenails, find my underwear, track down that lost aisle runner…all I can hope for is a few moments of peace to take a breath and really soak in the day!

On January 5th, I will surely be laying awake in the early morning hours just full of jittery excitement over walking down the aisle and grasping the hands of the one my heart loves! My momma will most likely be up too and bring me a cup of hot tea to warm my hands and heart with her sweet advice and loving words. As soon as the sun peaks through the trees I will be up and at it, checking my DIY flowers and wrapping them up in a few little bits of vintage love from my grandparents home, making sure my mismatched china is placed perfectly, and hoping that my hair will behave itself for once! Soon I will be with my seven sisters from college that will be standing beside me and the giddiness will ensue…especially after a couple shots of espresso! We will be a mess of Tiffany blue and vintage creams with a loving handful of pearls sprinkled in. And when we arrive at the old school- turned- church, my heart may just spring into a full-blown gallop of joy! I am getting married…today!! :D

The morning of our wedding, I’ll wake up with my sisters and best friends in our hotel. We’ll make ourselves a nice fruit platter and enjoy that with some toast and coffee. Then I’ll have my girls help me complete my something blue: We’re going to glue on blue rhinestones on the bottom of my sunshine yellow shoes the phrase “I DO.” Which is also great because blue and yellow are our wedding colors. Then we’ll all get ready in the hotel room and head over to our venue. The venue is an old military home, and they have one of the bedrooms preserved. So when we arrive my dress will be hanging from the bedframe, waiting for me! Once I’m changed, we’ll sip champagne with raspberries and giggle nervously until I’m ready to meet my best friend down the aisle.
    Sounds perfect to me!

  96. avatar Emily reply

The morning of my wedding, I’d like to say I’ll be sleeping in, but who are we kidding. I’ll be up bright and early to have a quiet cup of coffee with my parents, brother and sister…our last family meal before my husband-to-be joins the crew. Then its off to a local bed and breakfast to meet up with all my bridesmaids for the bridesmaid brunch. Afterwards, we will all head to an old historic home where the reception is being held. I imagine we will spend lots of girly time just hanging out getting our hair and make up done. What I am looking forward to the most is the time spent with all my family and my beautiful bridesmaids who are a mix of high school, college, and adult friends from all over the country. What an exciting time for all of us to sip champagne, catch up and listen to great pre-wedding tunes together!

The morning of my wedding I plan prayer to be the first thing on the agenda. My wedding will begin early at 9:00 am and the brides maids and I will have a beautiful prayer together along with my mom and fiances’ mom and grandmother. We will then have a light breakfast as we sit and allow the elder women give me words of wisdom and advise as I move to the next level in my life. I look forward to this beautiful and haeartfelt moment. It’s going to be a joy listenting and taking in all the wonderful knowledge they will have to share with me.
