Are y’all counting down with us? There are only five days left until V5 arrives and our tails are practically wagging!

Among the big days we’re counting down to, the holidays top our list, too. After all, Thanksgiving is only a couple of weeks away, and that means we can officially begin decorating and celebrating! (Right, Em?)

One of our favorite parts of the season is organizing and holding our annual events. We’re really excited to get the ball rolling on our fourth annual ornament swap and are already brainstorming some crafty ideas! We had an amazing swap last year (take a look at our recap here) and would love for y’all to participate! Take a look at the directions below. Whether you intend to hand make the ornaments you send out or buy some adorable ones, just make sure they’re as Southern as possible and email Emily by Monday, November 19!

Last year, we were super excited to hold our very first Gingerbread Barn Building Competition. Dozens of our wonderful readers (donning Christmas aprons, no less), gathered with us at the Carolina Inn to frost, assemble, decorate (and eat) the best gingerbread barn below the Mason-Dixon. This year, we’re determined to put our improved frosting skills to the test. Join us, won’t you? All you have to bring is your game face. RSVP by emailing me with “Gingerbread Barn Building” in the subject line.

I’m really excited for the coming weeks and getting the chance to meet more of you! We’ll be keeping you updated on these events as the countdown to the holidays commences, so keep an eye open for them!

Ho, ho, ho, y’all! It may only be the middle of November, but the Southern Weddings office is oh-so-ready for the holidays. We hope you are, too, because today we’re announcing our third annual holiday ornament swap!

Our first two rounds were a rousing success (see here + here), and we know it’s going to be even better this year! After all, our office’s collective favorite month of the year is Nov. 25 – Dec. 25, so it’s only appropriate to host a celebration of sorts! Here’s how things are going to go down:

If you would like to participate, send an email to emily [at] iloveswmag [dot] com (or click here!) with “Holiday Ornament Swap” in the subject line by next Monday, November 21. Include your name, address, email address, website/blog address, and Twitter handle, if you have one.

By Wednesday, November 23, I will have emailed you the names and addresses of up to five people to send ornaments to.

You then have two options for the ornaments you send out:

Option One: Handmade by you. We suggest getting familiar with Gocco, Yudu, Cricut, Photoshop… or just some good old fashioned construction paper, glitter, and glue. Whichever design you choose, make sure it’s easy to produce in multiples – and ideally a bit Southern!

Option Two: Made by someone else. That someone else could be your sister-in-law, it could be an Etsy vendor, or it could be your neighborhood Target. It doesn’t have to be expensive! You could even buy a multi-pack of ornaments and send one to each of your swap partners.

Whether you choose option one or two, be sure to send out your ornaments no later than Friday, December 9! Then, all that’s left to do is wait for the holiday goodness to roll in.

A last note: Please don’t sign up if you don’t intend to follow through! Think about how disappointed you would be if you sent out beautiful ornaments and didn’t receive a single one in response… I know I would be very disappointed. And watch out for postage!

P.S. While you’re at it, how about signing up for Brooklyn Bride’s card swap, too? The more, the merrier, we say!

Let the holidays begin, y’all!
