Oh My Goodness! When I saw the picture of the pink watercolor invitation I got so excited!!! I have actually been trying to recreate it with DIY.. LOT harder than I imagined. Boo. I would like mine to be the exact same but in a jade color with black ink. Maybe with a touch of gold somewhere to give just a tad of pizazz! Loved the website and liked it on Facebook :)

I think my ideal wedding invite would have a touch of our colors (royal blue and yellow/gold) with design elements that speak to our summer wedding. We picked the colors based on our love of our undergraduate schools and I would enjoy seeing an element from the school’s logos carried over into the design. Something classic and elegant would also be ways to describe what I’m imagining.

My dream wedding invitation would reflect the southeern elegance theme of my wedding and tie in the setting- a former horse farm in Kentucky. I would like to work with Chelsea to create a monogram or symbol to use on all paper goods from guest bags to invitations and menus, maybe with a horseshoe. The text would be a combination of a modern text and modern calligraphy with using black, gold, and corals. I would be so excited to win this giveaway, as I have admired Chelsea’s work for months! I will be ordering my invites for my September wedding in the next few months, this would be great timing!

Awe! The last day! I looked forward to entering the contest daily. Thanks much ladies!
It’s a toss up as to which will be my dream wedding invite. It would have to be something between, “Barbie & Ken” pink & black cuteness! “Robyn & Jake’s” beach postcard save the dates. OR the beautiful blue and pink Shabby Chic invites from “Sofia & Phillipe”. Mix them all up and I guess that’ll be my perfect invitation.

Wow – beautiful invitations on their site! My dream invitation would be letterpress – we have incorporated an ampersand into our save the dates, so I would love to have our monogram written as D&D and incorporated into a wreath motif. Also, the town where we are getting married has lot of equestrian opportunities, so I would love to incorporate that into the envelope liner. Green, white, tan linen, and pale pink are our colors, so I’d love to see those incorporated into the invitation!

I know y’all already love everything Chelsea from Southern Fried Paper touches, correct? (Yep, just check out our first Ultimate Southern Challenge, where her sweet tea escort cards were a finalist!) That’s why I just know you ladies are going to die over the inspiration shoot I have for you today. It’s 100% Southern, and 100% state fair inspired. What could be more perfect as we head into fall? (I don’t know about y’all, but I am DEFINITELY looking forward to the North Carolina State Fair, which opens on October 13!) Enjoy these lovely photos from N Barrett Photography, and read on for the story behind this fun shoot!

From Chelsea:

“Fall is here, which means everyone is gearing up for Fair season! We were so inspired by the fun and excitement of the State Fair of Texas that we created an entire styled shoot around it. We used a warm color palette of yellow, orange, pink and red throughout the design.

We built an awning to shade the sweets bar and decorated it with handmade paper pinwheels and bunting. Sugar Bee Sweets designed a delicious yellow buttercream cake, accented with cascading fondant ribbons. In addition to the pies, cake, and plethora of candy there were corn dogs, pretzels and popcorn for guests wanting to snack on something savory.

The head table was “picnic chic” with a red and white table cloth, hand painted plates, and stunning floral by Bows and Arrows. Tall glass pillars were filled with popcorn and topped with pomanders made of ruffled carnations and cymbidium orchids. Smaller arrangements of dahlias and chamomile were placed in paper wrapped vintage cans. Each cocktail glass had a pennant-wrapped paper straw that doubled as a place card and each plate was topped with a mini cherry or pecan pie.

The bride held an ombre Biedermeier ranunculus bouquet with vintage velvet ribbon and wore a three tiered tulle gown by Rosa Clara.

The playful save the date by Southern Fried Paper showcased a state fair classic: the corn dog. It was backed with red gingham. The invitation featured cheery yellow stripes and vintage typography.”

The vendors who brought it all together:

Stationery and Paper Decor: Southern Fried Paper // Photography: N Barrett Photography // Cake and Sweets: Sugar Bee Sweets // Floral: Bows & Arrows // Hair, Makeup, and Wardrobe Styling: Something You Makeup Artistry // Rentals: Ducky-Bob’s // Wedding Gown: Rosa Clara

Sending out a call for the ultimate Southern anything reminds me of just how many goodies we take pride in in the South. For example, we’ve gone a whole week without featuring a sweet tea concept, and it’s difficult to get more Southern than that! Luckily, Chelsea from Southern Fried Paper is here to set us straight with her adorable escort cards. Thanks also to After Yes for planning the display, and Sarah Kate, Photographer, for the lovely images!

From Chelsea:

“What’s more Southern than sweet tea?! We crafted small paper envelopes of tea with names and table assignments on the front of each. After guests find their name, they can sip a big glass of Southern sweet tea as they find their seat!”

Thanks so much, ladies! Readers, if you love this idea, be sure to let us know in the comments! And remember, you’re welcome to give a vote of support to more than one concept.

I think this is the ultimate southern idea. Creative, homey, casual yet elegant. The epitome of southern style. I vote for Sweet Tea.

I cannot tell you how much I wish I was a Southerner!! Alas, I am from New Zealand and fell in love with your blog a little while ago : ) Is there any way you can send me a recipe for good sweet tea? It looks SO yummy but every time I’ve tried to make it I fail miserably…

Laurien: Hi Laurien! I am from Australia, and my mum is a Kiwi! she lived in the deep South for about 6 years as a young lass (and was legally adopted by a Southern family) and so consequently I have grown up with alot of Southern traditions, cooking, stories and memories! I feel a kinship, and so consequently I am going to have a few select Southern touches at my wedding in March. Sweet Tea will be one of them!
