We’re back with more from Churchill Downs!
While our first Derby-inspired board was more traditional and masculine, this one is decidedly more feminine and whimsical. The light, soft colors might not your first thought when you think “Kentucky Derby,” but I think you’ll agree this board would make for a perfect first-weekend-in-May Southern wedding.

Encourage your female guests to wear their loveliest hats, and your male guests to wear their most dapper seersucker. I seriously adore this gorgeous number from Gina Foster Millinery.
A lace-inspired cake in palest pink and white is perfect for a Southern soiree (confection by My Sweet & Saucy).
Keep the roses but trade out the deep red for white and cream and you have this lovely bouquet (photo by Marisa Holmes).
If you can swing it, a reception beside a meadow dotted with beautiful horses is almost all the decor you need. (Photo by Jose Villa)
Don’t be afraid of greenery! Make it the bulk of your arrangement, tuck in a few gorgeous peach and cream roses, and oversized arrangements can be yours. These would be especially lovely on either side of the couple at the ceremony! (Photo by Marisa Holmes)
A troop of petite flower girls lining up to head down the aisle reminds you a bit of the fillies prancing into place at the starting gate of a race, does it not? (Photo by JAC Photography)
A darling gold horseshoe makes a sweet photo prop or styling element in a food or escort card display (photo by Samm Blake via Style Me Pretty).
A display like this at your bar will have your guests drinking mint juleps in no time! Use a beautiful antique glass for the display, but serve guests in plain glasses, which will help cut down on rental costs. (Photo by Lisa Lefkowitz via Snippet & Ink)
A classic open-air tent is the perfect site for a Derby reception, whether or not it’s planted on the grounds of a race track. We love this one, photography by Millie Holloman. See more from this wedding on SW here + here!
So what do you think, readers? Would you plan (or are you planning?) a Derby-inspired wedding?
Check back tomorrow for more Kentucky goodness!
these are delightful!

I love it, it doesn’t get any more southern than seersucker and bowties!

You have to love the formality of a bow tie mixed with an invite! From a guys perspective, these are invites that I wouldn’t mind seeing! Great job!
I think HoneyBee Invites is a rising star with these creative ideas—we need to keep an eye on this Allie person!
I totally love the bowties! My husband has worn them for years to be unique and now, bowties are becoming quite popular. I know my daughters would have loved these.

Absolutely love these! The tiny bow ties on the escort cards are impressive and super cute. Nice work by Honey Bee Invites!
Southern and Chic, a love in my book. Honey Bee makes me want to have another wedding with my husband.
oh my goodness- these are so charming! such a sweet idea for a southern bride who wants some girly flair. i love HBI’s work!!
I love the presentation and the contrast of colors!! So creative Allie!! Loves!! :)
I love love love these! I don’t know if it’s just the area where I grew up or all of Texas, but we don’t usually do escort cards or seated dinners. It’s usually a massive buffet that people visit all night long… whenever they want! (I guess it’s kind of hard to coordinate a Texas-sized seated dinner!) If I were doing escort cards, though, I would want these! So perfect!
Another great idea by HBI!
I LOVE seersucker! It’s so pure and simple, but fun all at the same time! HBI really captured the essence of the “wedding day”!
What a fun use of traditional southern style! Way to go Allie!
So super cute! I’m very impressed with the creativity. Adorable little bows! Simple yet elegant and the clothes pins totally complete the Southern look . Beautiful font as well.
Absolutely obsessed with the seersucker bowties- such a fun, southern, but unique idea! I know exactly where to go for wedding ideas when that special day comes around for myself. Beautiful work HBI and Allie!
