In light of the past two years, I’m sure we weren’t the only ones who waited on the edges of our seats to see what magic would come out of Texas for V7! Ryan Ray, Stefanie Miles, and Bows and Arrows teamed up once again to create this beautiful shoot for us, centered around the concept of meaningful moments and true Southern hospitality—two things that may be more cherished at a wedding than anywhere else. We were so overjoyed to have a real couple pose as our bride and groom, as well as the bride’s lovely mama! Given the family-centered nature of this shoot, there was no better way for authentic, sweet moments to happen—and Ryan captured every one beautifully!

The fashion in this shoot couldn’t be more stunning–I love how the lace in the bride’s dress plays off of the lattice in the garden.

As always, Alicia blew us away with her gorgeous florals. This arch is the perfect example of how her work interacts with the environment without distracting from it.

Photographs can be such precious heirlooms. We love the idea of gifting special people, like your parents, with a gorgeous, high quality album of some of your favorite pictures together–don’t forget to leave room for some wedding photos at the end!

There was audible shrieking in the office when we first saw the images of this table–stunning!!

This is one of my favorite details in the issue. I can only imagine how much guests would appreciate the time you put into making such thoughtful introductions!

Oh, how we love a chic getaway dress! This one from BHLDN would make a gorgeous rehearsal dinner option too.

Don’t miss the beautiful film that brings this inspiration to life, courtesy of Candlelight Films!

Have y’all had moments during wedding planning when the fact that you’re really getting married and your wedding is really happening hits you? Maybe thanks to our long engagement, I often feel like mine and Dave’s wedding is still in the distant future, but there have been a few moments in the past ten months that have made me stop whatever I’m doing and jump around the room shrieking a little bit. Embarrassing, I know–y’all please tell me I’m not alone in this! :) The most recent of those moments? Getting our save the dates in the mail!

I was originally convinced that I didn’t want to include a photo on our save the date, but that all changed when we opened up our engagement pictures by Ryan Ray. They captured our personalities and our joy so perfectly that we decided including a picture would be a great way to “introduce” our relationship to my family members and friends that Dave hasn’t met yet, and me to his. Once we decided to include a photo, we went directly to one of my favorite paper sources, Minted. At the Southern Weddings office, we had recently gotten a gorgeous box of Minted samples featuring their latest foil-pressed options, and I was totally smitten! Ready to see? Here you go!

We went with Minted’s Save in Script Foil Pressed Card in silver foil and I LOVE how it turned out! Minted is well known for being amazing about customizations (a great blessing for a picky bride!), and were so accommodating when I asked to switch the backer with one from another design. It’s a little hard to see in these pictures, but we chose a pale gray and white stripe that matches Dave’s seersucker bow tie! Even though this change was subtle, and I doubt most of our guests noticed, I love how this tiny tweak made our save the date even more special and personal. We kept the text simple, including just our names, our wedding date, the location, and our wedding website.

We also took advantage of Minted’s free envelope addressing service and were SO glad we did! What a time saver, and it looked way better than it would have if Dave and I had addressed each envelope by hand–neither of us has amazing handwriting :)

Note: This address is an old one!

Here’s a sweet tip when addressing save the dates/invitations to engaged couples: write them to “The Future Mr. and Mrs.”! Dave and I got a wedding invitation addressed that way in the most gorgeous calligraphy earlier this year, and it made us so happy! We did the same for our engaged friends in the hopes that it made them smile too.

After sealing these pretties up and popping on some stamps (we used these in honor of our spring wedding!), into the mail they went! It was so much fun to get excited texts and calls from friends and family members in the week that followed as they received their save the dates in the mail. I can hardly wait till they’re getting our wedding invitations in a few months!

First of all, I can hardly believe that as of this weekend, Dave and I have been engaged for SEVEN months! Y’all, it has flown by, and I am feeling more and more like our wedding will be here before we know it! Since we booked so many vendors early on (venue/catering, photographer, videographer, florist, DJ), we’ve really been able to enjoy these last few months doing very little wedding planning. That’s all going to change next week though, because we’re flying to my home sweet home of Houston to check two very exciting things off of our wedding to-do list: taking our engagement pictures and wedding dress shopping!

Since my nosey fiancé made me SWEAR I wouldn’t post a single detail about my wedding dress, I’m not going to be posting anything about dress inspiration or shopping (sorry, y’all!), but I am excited to talk about the other item on that list—our engagement pictures with our fabulous photographer, Ryan Ray. Ryan’s portrait-taking skills are one of the biggest reasons we chose him for our wedding, and it will be great to finally meet him in person!

I’ve been rounding up some inspiration images to narrow down and share the types of pictures and poses I like, and in general, I think it’s safe to say that I love engagement pictures that are relatively neutral, prop-free, a little bit dressy, cuddly, and twirly :)

Clockwise from top left: Jen Huang, Caroline Joy, Cassidy Brooke, Jose Villa, KT Merry, Town & Country, Elisabeth Millay, Ryan Ray, KT Merry, Jose Villa

I’m also very excited that a sweet Blue Ribbon Vendor, Tracy of Tracy Melton Artistry, will be taking care of my hair and makeup for the day! I want something relatively natural, but just a little bit more pretty and romantic than my every day look. Here’s the hair and makeup inspiration I sent her:

Source unknown, Jamie Beck

After spending so many years admiring other people’s engagement pictures, I suspect it is going to feel very strange being the one in front of the camera! I am 100% confident that Ryan and Tracy can work their magic on Dave and I, but truth be told, I always get pretty nervous before big photo shoots. Any last-minute advice is more than welcome! :)
