And we’re back! I hope you enjoyed Part 1 of our Bridal Market adventure! I’m so excited for this post, as it has one of my favorite shows in it! Can you guess which before scrolling down?

Don’t you love these backstage snaps Kat captured before the Reem Acra show? Y’all know my makeup junkie self would have died over all that makeup! I also love that Kat was able to snag a shot of the run of show photos. So neat!

The Reem Acra show is always one of my favorites because it’s always so couture, and this year was no different. Models weaved in and out of a small two-roomed venue donning innovative headpieces made of pleated tulle and lace.

The Reem Acra collection featured scalloped necklines, and narrow column silhouettes accentuated by bursts of tulle. We also saw embroidered illusion necklines, cascading organza and intricate beading.

Oh dear sweet Amsale! There are not words to describe how much Kristin and I died over this collection! We kept hitting each other (chicly, of course!) as each dress came down the runway. The Amsale collection is a “celebration of American couture”, and boy did we want to celebrate.

The streamlined silhouettes and “less is more” approach to classic style was right up my alley. These gowns featured luxurious fabrics (oh that silk organza!), pleated skirts, and my personal favorite, BIG bows! The Fall 2013 Amsale collection has classic Southern written all over it!

Before the Monique Lhuillier show we were so thrilled to have a few minutes to chat (and snap a pic with) our sweet friend Christy from Junebug Weddings. Isn’t her black and white dress so stylish?

Onto the ever-stunning Monique Lhuillier show! Monique described this collection as a fairytale, “a dream-like state with a very ethereal feeling.” We couldn’t agree more! The collection was full of illusion necklines, lace cap sleeves and of sheer romantic tulle. The collection was feminine and full of sparkly glamour. I also loved how Monique weaved in the subtle blush color without going overboard.

Stay tuned for more Bridal Market adventures as we’re just getting started! BIG huge thanks to Kat Harris for photographing all these beauties for us!

P.S. Which is your favorite gown so far?

Let’s see… these are some stunning gowns, so it’s hard to pick favorites, but I’ll try! From Reem Acra, I loved the first one, with that crazy tulle bow thing. From Amsale, it has to be the deep, deep v back – so chic! And finally, from Monique, I’m going with the last one – all that draping is so subtle and carefully done! I also love the first one from Monique!

I must say you have great taste, Mrs Thomas! Those are all great picks!

As an Amsale bride to be, hers are definitely my favorite, and I have to agree with Emily, that deep V is to DIE for!!! But I also love the sheer backs and the big bow! Mine has a bow and I’m SO excited! :) Lucky ducks, thanks for the recap!

Oh Amanda, I’m sure your dress is amazing! ALL the Amsale gowns are STUNNING!

    • avatar Kristin reply

Amanda: I seriously almost passed out during the @amsale show. You, friend, are the lucky duck as an @amsale bride! Congratulations.

I just die over the third to last Monique gown, slit in the front, tulle cap sleeves. I just need it.

  5. avatar Anna reply

That last dress and the deep-V back one are my favorites!

  6. avatar chris reply

I love the one with the flowers allover – that’s so great. Thanx for that beautiful pictures!

  7. avatar Lisa reply

Oh my gosh, these collections are to die for! The Amsale with the low back and bow and the 5th runway shot from Monique Lhuillier are my favorites so far!

  8. avatar Madelynne Moulton reply

Amsale never skips a beat. Her gowns are exactly my aesthetic – simple, elegant, and understated. But I love the backs of the gowns on row two the most, and Monique’s last gown slays me. My favorite Reem is the top one!

Dear fellow fashion fans, you’re in for a real treat! I’m so excited to share these next few shows with you – pure fashion heaven! Our Saturday could not have been more hectic or more fun!

After the lovely gowns at Kenneth Poole we headed to back to the Piers for Junko Yoshioka (pronounced “june-co”). This collection featured classic silhouettes with modern twists. I’m especially fond of “Sofia” – the long-sleeved gown with dramatic keyhole back. But one of my favorite parts of this show had to be the beehive-esque hairstyles the models rocked! Y’all know I love big hair!

We couldn’t help but stop for a quick photo-opp in front of Tiffany & Co. as we hopped in the taxi to head to Reem Acra. Last year, Reem Acra featured very interesting lace hats with bunny ears and face coverings. Although not as Lady Gaga as her 2010 collection pieces, you still couldn’t help but take note of the innovative headpieces. Her collection featured tiered skirts and bountiful ruffles. I’m a fan! Are you?

As you might know, we’re quite the Amsale fans around these parts! Let me tell you, she did not disappoint! I literally died when the “Aspen” (the tulle ball gown skirt and beaded bateau neckline) hit the runway! It was like my Pan Am + Grace Kelly obsession all mixed into one with just the right amount of fancy glamour! Can I please be an Amsale girl?

After Amsale we had the hardest time catching a taxi! Not a one in sight! So what’s a girl to do? Run! Right through the massive crowds of people, some of which were dyed blue, carrying fake axes or dressed up like Rorschac for Comic Con ! And I might add that we did all this in heels! It’s all in the name of fashion, y’all! I sure was NOT missing the Monique Lhuillier show!

Never fear, we made it in time to see the whole fabulous lot of pretties! Monique describes this collection as “ethereal, dreamy, frothy and romantic.” I’d have to agree! How fun is the “Lili?” I think the LBD might actually have a little competition!

All images courtesy of the adorable Ashley Minette. Thanks, Ashley! We had a blast with you!

With that, we conclude our Saturday! Don’t fret, my pet! We’ll be back tomorrow with even more lace, tulle and taffeta! We’ve even got some behind-the-scenes fun with the incredibly awesome Trent Bailey, including me officially hailing my first cab!

Which gown is your favorite, so far? Would you rock the Reem Acra headpieces?

Marissa, i have to agree with your love of ‘Sofia’ from Junko’s collection. Princess Kate certainly made sleaves proud this year but this has such a quirky, modern twist with the subtle stripes rather than the vintage look of the oh-so-popular lace numbers. love it! I could definitely see someone like Zooey Deschanel wearing a dress like Sofia!

That’s right, y’all! These Southern girls are headed North (for the weekend, that is)! Whitney and I could NOT be more excited about our upcoming trip to the Big Apple for New York’s Bridal Market. We’ll be getting up close and personal with all the gorgeous collections of designer dresses for Fall 2012 to bring you, our lovely brides, the best and most Southern gowns and glittering goodies!

Whitney: I just had to jump in, because I’m too excited to let Marissa make this fantastic announcement all by herself! This will be my first time attending Bridal Market, and I’m just as happy as can be to get the chance to see all of the gorgeousness from our favorite bridal designers. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it, right Marissa?

Here’s a little rundown on all the fabulous details of our trip!

What exactly is Bridal Market? It’s so much fun, y’all! No, really! Bridal Market is a gathering of the best of the best in bridal fashion from all over the world. It’s also where wedding gown and accessory designers introduce their collections for the next season. Think Fashion Week – only better! We were thrilled to be invited to cover all the loveliness! Let me tell you, last year I think I said “Oh my gosh, y’all!” over 100 times. Just ask Lara!

When will the SW ladies be there? We’ll be jetting into NYC in the wee hours of the morning on Saturday and heading back below the Mason-Dixon on Monday night.

What designers will you be seeing? This might be my favorite part! We’ll be heading to the shows of Claire Pettibone, Amsale, Junko Yoshioka, Reem Acra, Monique Lhuillier, Anne Barge, Watters and a few more! Yeehaw! Yep, we’re planning on fitting all those lovely gowns into just three short days!

We’ll also be keeping you all in the loop: we’ll have tweet-coverage LIVE all weekend long, so be sure to follow along with us: Southern Weddings, Marissa and Whitney.

Are you going to be there? You know what else we love besides silk, lace and ribbon? Seeing old friends and making new ones! If you see us at Market, we’d simply adore it if you’d come say “howdy!” P.S. We’re from the South, so we’re huggers! Can’t find us? Tweet us, Facebook us or email us! We’ll be sure to say “hey!”.

Image credit: Mille Holloman. Now you know what we look like, so you have no excuse not to come say “hey”!

If you can’t wait until October 15th, get your fill with all of last year’s goodness. It was so huge we had to break it into eight pieces! 1, 2, 3, 4 , 5, 6, 7 and 8.
