Well aren’t y’all lucky! Today we’re featuring one of my very favorite spreads from V3. In Southern by Design, we featured shoots from three of our favorite bloggers. Each took the classic Southern wedding and made it their own, either by reinterpreting a Southern element or transposing Southern elements into their own environment. They did SUCH a fabulous job, and we’re honored to be able to show off their work in V3’s pages.
Today we’re featuring the shoot of Jen from Green Wedding Shoes. We dubbed it “Southern Meets Southern California” since Jen and her team took classic Southern elements (green tomatoes, raw cotton, magnolias) and gave them a SoCal makeover with the addition of West Coast details like succulents and an organic juice bar. Here’s a peek:
The gallery has ALL the pretty details — click here to see! In the meantime, here’s a look at the super-fabulous team. We love you all!

I absolutely love how classic and Southern magnolias are, not to mention their wonderful scent! We are using magnolia leaves to frame our wreaths on the doors to the chapel where we will be married, and we are also using magnolia leaves, branches and blossoms mixed with other blooms on the cake table. Our cake will have some magnolia-inspired sugar blossoms on it, too!
That sounds amazing, Rachel! Can’t wait to see!
I used the magnolia trees at our wedding site for inspiration. They were present in table settings and bouquettes. Some of our favorite pictures are of us surrounded by magnolia branches!
[…] This post was mentioned on Twitter by amagnoliaheart, Southern Weddings . Southern Weddings said: A super Southern spotting (say that five times fast, y'all!): magnolia wreaths! http://su.pr/6J1a86 […]
I love the wreath! I am definitely considering using magnolia leaves but haven’t quite figured out how yet. The plantation at which we are getting married has several large magnolia trees on the property and I think mixing them into the decor would be great- and oh-so-southern.
This is gorgeous! Just the subtle changes in the leaf colours makes this amazing!
Definitely!! They are beautiful and so very southern! I already mentioned it to my florist :)
The magnolia wreath was my very first floral “must have!” My wedding was in Davidson, NC and my florist accented the wreaths with small ivory roses – subtle, but the addition made the green and cream really pop on the doors to the sanctuary!
Yes! Love this. Our reception is in an old Southern hotel where the wallpaper is full of magnolias… we are carrying through the motif in our cake with large sugar magnolia blossoms.
Am I feeling a DIY video?!? :) I hope so!
LOVE! I want one for my front door!
Me, too! :)

So pretty and lush – do you know where I can buy this wreath? Thanks!
Hi Sue! This wreath was custom made for a wedding, but Weston Farms (http://westonfarms.com/home/) sells some beautiful ones!
