Like our Family Heirlooms shoot, this editorial looks like a good time was had by all, doesn’t it? You just want to jump right in to the photos! Having a band on hand will do that, and a band was most definitely necessary for this story, where everything was inspired by the sweet song of the South. We are SO lucky that Nancy Ray, Amber Housley, and Cedarwood Weddings (all Blue Ribbon Vendors!) collaborated on this gem… please enjoy!

Amber put together a wedding weekend welcome pack to rival the Savannah version in our Generations Past editorial! These goodies are all Nashville or Tennessee favorites.

This team did such a great job incorporating crafty ideas while still maintaining a clean and cohesive look over all. Love the boutonnieres made out of sheet music!

Oh my word, this wreath is a stunner, isn’t it? I was immediately smitten. With it as the centerpiece of your ceremony, I don’t think you’d need any other decoration.

Speaking of showstoppers, these little belles and beaus definitely qualify. All five are the nieces and nephews of photographer Nancy Ray — we love that they were able to incorporate actual family into the day!

I’m sure the music from those triplet drummers was just lovely, but there was a real bluegrass band on hand, too — Jace Aaron and the Ranchers.

A pretty drink station is such a good idea for cocktail hour. It doesn’t have to be fancy, either — thyme sprigs dress up lemonade in simple glasses just beautifully!

We’re all about creative guest books, and this album is an especially good idea. It would look striking framed on the wall in a newlywed home!

I can’t get over this cake table — that patterned linen makes such a splash! Even if you don’t have the budget for custom linens, splurging on just one for a focal point can make a big impact. And I’d consider buying instead of renting, too. That way, you’ll have a special piece that reminds you of your wedding to bring out for special occasions for years to come!

We’d love to hear: What’s your favorite part of this editorial? I adore the ceremony wreath and everything about the cake and its table!

We feel blessed to be part of this gorgeous project with some good friends! The banjo was actually handmade my late father, and seeing it in Southern Weddings V6 brings joy to our family — our Dad would be so proud.

The ceremony wreath is killing it, but I think the little drummer boys steal the show. Adorable.

We loved bringing you even more super Southern ideas in our 2011 series the “Ultimate Southern Challenge,” and we’re excited to start it up again in 2012! In case you missed the festivities last year, we focused on mason jars and escort cards. The response to both Challenges was fantastic, and the entries, even better!

This time around our starting point is the perfect blank canvas: burlap! Burlap is an inexpensive material, and though it’s most often seen in rustic settings, we’re excited to see what possibilities y’all will dream up for this humble cloth! To get your wheels turning, here are a few of the favorite burlap details we’ve featured on the blog:

A burlap bouquet cuff (photo by Pasha Belman) and a burlap bouquet wrap (photo by Brion Hopkins)

Sweet burlap ring bearer pillows (photo by Landon Jacob Productions)

A burlap-covered bar (photo by 13:13 Photography)

Vendors, feel free to team up, though your submission doesn’t have to be anything elaborate — in fact, we want these ideas to be easily executable by brides everywhere!

A few details:

– Your submission can take any form (as long as it involves burlap!), but the most important piece is that it be SOUTHERN.

– Anyone can enter as an individual or a team — vendors, brides and grooms, and wedding or Southern enthusiasts alike. And you don’t have to be Southern to enter!

– To enter, please send 5-10 professional-quality photos at 600 pixels wide and a brief description of your submission to howdy at iloveswmag dot com. Subject line: “Ultimate Southern Challenge: Burlap.”

– Include the names and websites of all your team members, and a list of materials and links to sources used. Please include directions for any DIY projects you may have done.

All submissions must be received by 11:59pm on March 8, 2012. Submissions received after the 9th will not be eligible.

– Our favorite submissions will be posted throughout the week of March 12th, and the winner, who gets ultimate Southern bragging rights, will be announced the following week.

– Submissions cannot be posted or tweeted until published on Southern Weddings.

We can’t WAIT to see what y’all come up with! Questions? Leave them below, and we’ll do our best to answer them!

P.S. Want to check out the winners of our last two Challenges? Go here + here!

Landon Jacob Productions is a fabulous member of our Blue Ribbon Vendor Directory!

The bride wanted to incorporate her love of sugary things into the wedding–just take a look at her sweets bar! But what really stood out was the wedding cake, whipped up and decorated by Sue Ann’s Bakery. The simple white-on-white lace and monogram design was topped with peonies and definitely makes my list of favorite cakes featured on the blog. The couple even chose to have sheet cakes of Funfetti made! I know Katharine + Kyle would agree this was a great decision. Lace and pretty peony and hydrangea floral arrangements put together by Roses are Red decorated the tables at the groom’s grandparents’ house. At the end of the night, the newlyweds were surprised with fireworks! Together now: oooh, aaah.

Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I went with my mom and sister to Priscilla of Boston on a weekend my sister was home from Chicago. I tried on five dresses and I saved my favorite one for last. As soon as I put it on I knew it was the one! My mom and sister were both crying — it was really cute.
Describe your wedding cake: I love sweets so the cake was a big deal to me! Sue Ann’s bakery did an AMAZING job! All of the flavors were delicious and they even made sheet cakes of Funfetti since it’s my favorite ever! The design of the cake turned out perfect and exactly what I had envisioned.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? Getting everything done! We thought having a backyard wedding would be simple and easy—oh how wrong we were! I owe it all to my mom, she is amazing and spent countless hours researching and planning and we couldn’t have done it without her!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Charlie’s uncle and grandfather surprised us with fireworks! The whole wedding went by super fast but during the fireworks, it felt like everything slowed down and it was just the two of us together.
Did you write your own vows? If so, what was your favorite phrase, verse or line? My favorite line from Charlie’s vows was “I will treasure you always, just as I do at this moment.”
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? We are in the process of buying a house at the beach! It’s a fixer-upper which should be interesting since neither of us is handy. It’s going to be so cute once it’s fixed up, though, and we are so excited!

I love the scenery at the reception, very romantic :D And of course the cake, I also love sweets and a “sweets” table is a very good idea for any celebration. :D Need I say more on the firworks?I also love the idea of the people holding on to those mini fireworks as the couple went out the house or the church? :D
