From the cake to the favors–even down to the ice sculpture–the couple’s signature monogram was used to tie the decor together.  To see more images from Kari Beth + Josh’s wedding, view the slide show on photographer, Laura Negril ‘s  {Blog}. Reception {Atlanta Athletic Club}, floral decor by {Foxgloves & Ivy}, music by {The Answer Band},  wedding cake by (Abby Ryland) and all printed Items by {DecoMarj}. All wedding coordination comes from the fabulous Lindsay Pitt of {Toast}. From Lindsay: “Josh and Kari Beth were a dream! Aside from being madly in love they are spirited, youthful and laid back which translated to the style of the wedding perfectly. Kari Beth and her mom relayed their vision and left the details and decisions to me, which truly allowed them to enjoy the day and the entire planning process. Kari Beth was the epitome of a stunning bride, the attendees had such a fantastic time and were so gracious, and the details fell into place to create such a memorable Hotlanta summer wedding!”

The weather on our wedding day was: Luckily, most of the day was sunny and only a bit cloudy, which allowed us to take some outside pictures. It rained right when we pulled up to the Atlanta Athletic Club for the reception, but only for a second and then it went back to being partly cloudy for a beautiful rest of the evening!
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? We wanted to keep the wedding simple yet elegant. I absolutely LOVE monograms, so Lindsay Pitt, our wedding coordinator, helped us design a central monogram that was used on the favors, welcome bags, water bottles, napkins, ice sculpture, and elsewhere throughout the wedding décor.
Favorite design element of your big day: I really loved the monogram that we designed as well as all of the pink and green décor.
Describe your wedding cake: The wedding cake was a seven layer white cake with cream and alternating raspberry and lemon filling, with several layers of pink roses in between. The shapes alternated between square and circle, with mostly white icing on the outside. Each layer also included a pink and green ribbon at the bottom with small white pearls on the ribbon. In the middle of the cake was a pink monogram that was central throughout our entire wedding theme. The cake was topped with an assortment of pink roses.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Kari Beth: I loved the signature drink that we created to honor our new home in Niceville, Florida. It was a pink passion fruit martini with green sugar on the rim, and we named it the Niceville Sunset. I also loved the monogram that we used throughout the wedding décor. Josh: I really enjoyed the band that we hired, The Answer Band. They really got the crowd going and guests of all ages enjoyed the music!
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? The fact that Josh was six hours away from the city in which I lived and where the wedding was to take place, was the biggest challenge. It was hard to make decisions when he couldn’t see or be there to make them with me, which is why I am so glad that he is so easy going because he was happy with any and everything that my mom, Lindsay, and I planned.
Funniest moment? Josh: Seeing all of Kari Beth’s former students dancing with her dad during the reception. Kari Beth: Before my bridesmaid’s and I walked down the aisle, we were lined up in a hallway. My dad came down the hallway yelling “Game Time” and giving all the girls high 5’s to get them pumped up to go down. He is such a coach!
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Enjoy every minute of it! This is the only day that you get to plan out every detail that you would like to have! Also, don’t get too carried away in the little details. In the end, you aren’t going to remember those details, but you will remember how much fun you had dancing and celebrating with your family and friends.
Best advice or most memorable comment someone made to you during the wedding celebration. Eat, dance, and enjoy yourself. This day goes by so fast, so enjoy every single second of it!
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? We just bought a golden retriever puppy named Chevy (for Josh’s truck), and we are living in Niceville, Florida. We plan on having children in a year or two from now.
Other details you want us to know about your wedding: Lindsay Pitt, our wedding coordinator, helped us plan the most perfect day! She did everything from contacting the band to organizing the linens for the table! We could not have had the wedding we did without her help! Laura Negri was our wonderful photographer. She took some GREAT pictures! She was so good that I didn’t even realize that she was there, but the pictures turned out wonderful. Thank you to the Atlanta Athletic Club for hosting a fabulous reception! Everything was great, coach!

Congratulations, Kari Beth and Josh!  Happy Friday ya’ll!

What a handsome couple. The colors chosen really pop! The flowers are fantastic and the cake is out of this world. The details I noticed most were all the printed materials which really carried through the theme of their monogram. The water bottles were great and the favor boxes, but also I noticed the serving tray with their signature drink looked like it also had the monogram on it. Wow, that is really detail to the max! Hope to see this one in the Magazine when it comes out.

What a wonderful blend of the pinks and greens. Pink is such a wonderful color but can often get overwhelming. When you look at this room you see such a beautiful design with the pink without being completely overwhelmed by it. Great Job! Beautiful Wedding!

Welcome back for part II of Angie + Tony’s merlot-inspired fete. I love the rich and unique color palette.  The scattered grape clusters and artichokes coupled with the rich florals create a warm, elegant feel.   Stunning ice sculptures created by {Masterpiece Ice}.   Many thanks, again, to {Casey Cunningham Photography}.  For more from Angie + Tony’s big day, be sure to check out {Tara} and {Casey’s} blogs.  Happy Monday!  ~ Rachel

From Tara…“Tony and Angie had fun and creative vision going into their wedding plans. We wanted to incorporate everything they loved into their wedding… chocolate, wine, Italy, food and of course, each other! We weaved the colors of merlot and chocolate brown into every detail…the lighting, the draping on the tent, the cake, the flowers, and even down to the martinis…chocolate and pomegranate! Wine corks held the place cards, and the tables names were inspired by all the places they were going to see on their honeymoon in Italy. The wedding was stunning, and I was so happy to be a part!”

What was the design inspiration for your wedding? The design inspiration was the wedding ceremony/reception location, the Biltmore Estate, and the location of our Honeymoon (Italy).
What colors did you choose?  Our colors were chocolate brown and merlot.  We both love chocolate and Angie loves wine.  We incorporated wine and chocolate elements throughout the wedding such as chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate truffles on the desert table and bunch of grapes and wine bottles on the dinner tables.
Describe your wedding flowers:  Variety of merlot-colored flowers such as orchids, roses, peonies, tulips and calla lilies with chocolate brown accents of fiddle heads, naked sunflowers and birch branches.  We also incorporated berries, artichokes, and grapes around the centerpieces.
Describe your wedding cake: The cake was a 3-layer round cake with chocolate fondant on the outside and chocolate cake and filing on the inside.  It was decorated with merlot bands at the base of each layer and merlot flowers.
Any do-it-yourself items that you created for your big day?  My mother designed and made our beautiful wedding invitations, place cards and table cards.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: The reception tent decoration.  Everything was impeccably done, creative, warm, beautiful, and classy.
Were there any special family traditions you included in the wedding? My mother put a penny, dated that same year as the year I was born, in my shoe for future health, happiness and prosperity.
The most unexpected event on our wedding day was: Seeing the ice bar Angie’s father surprised us with at our reception.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Hire great vendors and trust in their expertise, don’t micromanage.
Other details you want us to know about your wedding: Everyone danced the night away. It was simply a fantastic evening.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? With the vendors I had, I never felt that any of the planning was a big challenge – they made everything so fun and easy.

Congratulations, Angie + Tony! We wish you a lifetime of happiness~

I LOVE the color choices in this wedding. Unique and sumptuous without being stuffy and grandma-y. Just goes to show that a brave couple that’s willing to go beyong the color scheme of white on white or pink can put on an amazing, eye-catching event!

How fabulous are these flowers and delightful details!? Be sure to visit photographer Tine Hofmann’s {BLOG} for more of Melissa + Ryan’s gorgeous {Claxton Farm} wedding. Cake by {Cakes by Jane} . Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Favorite design element of your big day: The table decor. Our florist used all kinds of old vintage glass bottles for single cut flowers, sheet moss, and small potted trees. She sprinkled dried peas around the tables. Every table was different and there was so much to look at. At the end of the night, our guests got to take home the potted trees. We also put together a candy bar with candy apples, rock candy, marzipan, maple candy, lollipops, etc. I used vintage pink glassware my grandmother had given me. It was such a pleasing sight and the guests devoured it all.
Describe your wedding cake: Our cake blew me away. It was far above my highest expectation. It was southern cream cheese pound cake. We had two different flavors: raspberry cake with chocolate filling and almond cake with strawberry filling. It was so thick and chewy. Definitely the best cake I’ve every tasted. The icing was butter cream and the dogwood flowers were hand-painted sugar gum paste, which we saved and are beautiful in our china cabinet. We used green ribbon on the cake, same as on the tables and candy bar.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? The week before the wedding I wasn’t comfortable with our contingency plan if it rained. We added the tent and then I had to find six brown couches to put under it after the ceremony, so it wouldn’t be an empty tent once the chairs were moved into the barn for dinner and then it could be used during the cocktail hour, etc. I made about 20 phone calls and found a wonderful company that rents furniture for events all over the East coast, American Furniture Company.
Funniest moment? I have seven young nieces and nephews, and the boys were break-dancing the whole night. They were so funny, flipping over one another and getting dirty.
What were your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue items? My something old was my mother’s add-a-pearl necklace she had as a little girl, my new was a conflict-free diamond eternity band Ryan gave me as a gift the night before, my mother’s pearl earrings were my something borrowed, and my blue was on my garter that my mother handmade from Sicilian lace and blue ribbon. My mother had saved some old sixpence for both Ryan and I to put in our shoes. I also carried a handmade handkerchief of Belgian lace with my new initials.
What attracted me to my husband was: No matter what, he always makes me laugh and he always listens to me and helps me. He has incredible blue-green-yellow eyes too! He’s my best friend.
What attracted me to my wife was: She cares about my individuality. She lets me do what I need to do to feel good with myself. She’s freethinking, passionate, strong-minded, and absolutely beautiful.
Why do you love your husband? Because he understands me and I him, and we do all we can to continue to deepen this understanding.
How was your wedding different than the way you’d always imagined it would be? The rain. I always imagined it would be sunny.
Three adjectives that describe the day are:
Sincere, refreshing, fun.
Did you write your own vows? Yes. We had always planned to do it, but we didn’t actually sit down to write them until 2 days before the wedding. They ended up conveying exactly what we wanted them to.
Any do-it-yourself items that you created for your big day? Yes! I did as much as I could to personalize our wedding. I made all the table name cards (we named the tables after trees), the leaf escort cards on the bird’s nests, little signs for the escort card table and candy bar, the menu card, the CD favors. I also made a guest “book” that was a painting for our guests to sign so we can frame and hang it in our home. I cut fabric squares for guests to write their advice on with permanent marker that a friend of ours is going to make into a quilt. I also made welcome bags for all of our guests that were placed in their hotel rooms full of flower seeds, cookies, maps, a schedule, bubble bath and salts, and more. Practically every detail was personalized.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding?
A bride has to accept now that it might rain on her wedding day and it doesn’t have to mean that it will ruin the day. I would say to plan on it raining. I wish I would have known it would have been just as perfect in the rain while I was planning. Let everyone else know you are perfectly fine with it raining, so no one will be upset beforehand, including you.

Congratulations, Melissa + Ryan! We wish you a lifetime of love and pure joy!
