Reading how couples met is on the top of my list of favorite things about my job. Sometimes couple’s stories are hilarious, others are movie-like. For Natalie + Wade, it was meeting at the right time, at the right place. I love how this V4 couple chose to spend their wedding day on the beaches of Watercolor Inn and Resort, the same place they first met. The tree under which they stood to recite their vows was filled with hanging flowers and looks so dreamy. See that photo of Wade with his eyes closed during the ceremony? Bliss. Biggest thanks to Tec Petaja who captured that moment and shared this wedding with us.

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. Wade and I met on the beach in Watercolor, Florida at the perfect time and place. I had just graduated from Texas A&M and began to question if I would ever find “the one.” Ironically, Wade was simultaneously praying about his future wife. One week after arriving at Watercolor, unbeknownst to me, I’m hanging out on the beach next to my future husband. We believe our families’ chairs were placed next to each other on the beach, not by coincidence, but by God. My nana and mom instantly bonded with Wade’s mom and sister because of their sweet spirits and common interests. After talking with his family for an hour or so, I discovered he was single like me, and our families immediately started trying to play matchmaker. They were successful in setting up a family date before their vacation was over. After returning to Tennessee, Wade decided he would fly back down to Florida a week later to pursue this possibility with me. He invited me to Nashville two weeks later, and after regular trips between Texas and Tennessee, the rest is history.
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Breathtaking, romantic, unforgettable

Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I went to two different bridal shops in Houston to find the perfect wedding gown. I had looked through numerous wedding magazines, as every young bride does, and thought I would love a mermaid style Vera Wang gown. But after trying on a mermaid style Monique Lhuillier wedding gown, I fell completely in love with it and knew it would be perfect for the garden setting of my wedding. Once I made my decision, I never looked back!
Describe your bridesmaids’ dresses. How did you choose them? I did not want traditional bridesmaids’ dresses because they are not my style at all, so instead, I picked out various BCBG dresses that were muted tones for the girls to choose among.
Briefly describe your wedding flowers: My flowers were one of my favorite elements of the wedding. I wanted them to be muted neutrals with pops of peach and blush tones featuring hydrangeas, David Austen roses, succlents, lamb’s ear, craspedia, and seeded eucalyptus. I purchased a wedding bouquet token to attach to the bouquet that said “I love you to the moon and back” with the date of our wedding on the back.

Absolutely love all aspects of this wedding – the sweet story of how their family matchmade, the beautiful locale, flowers, dresses, shoes and of course, the stunning bride and groom. The only thing missing are the shots of the food, cake and desserts which I’m sure matched this well planned and detailed wedding!

I’m not quite sure why, but every time I start writing a Monthly Round-Up post, I feel compelled to start with an ode to that month, sometimes even a haiku. Thankfully, I refrain and save you dear readers from the pain of my awful poetry and instead, just present you with the pretty pictures and sweet details that make our hearts go pitter-patter.

This time around, we have Emily, Marissa and Sierra here with their highlights from the past month’s Real Weddings.

FAVORITE WEDDING DRESS: Lacy and feminine details were on our minds this month. Emily was immediately taken with Turner’s lacy Monique Lhuillier dress. Always a fan of classic details, Marissa chose Suzanne’s sweetheart-necked and bejeweled gown. Sierra was wowed by Holly’s delicate lace gown.

FAVORITE BRIDESMAID DRESS: Holly + Chase’s wedding made an impression with Sierra. She loved Holly’s dress and the bridemaids’ ivory frocks. Marissa, on the other hand, was head over heels for Turner’s ‘maids’ ruffle-sleeved navy dresses. With a shot of pink, Shelley’s pink bridesmaids rose to the top of Emily’s highlights.

FAVORITE FEMALE ACCESSORY: The timeless cut and setting of Elise + Matt’s wedding bands was Sierra’s favorite accessory. Marissa and Emily, however, were all about bows and shoes, choosing Shelley’s pink Kate Spade pumps and Turner’s Nina heels, respectively.

FAVORITE MENSWEAR: For Emily, it was Chase’s smart grey suit and black bow tie that sealed the deal. For Marissa, it was Matt’s formal black tux. For Sierra, nothing was better than Southern men in khaki suits like Chad’s groomsmen.

FAVORITE DETAIL: We love a good ole tradition ’round these parts. That must be why Emily thought the family wedding bells at Alex + Paul’s wedding was sweet and joyous! Marissa thought Shelley’s monogrammed and flower-adorned tote bag was too adorable and Sierra was smitten with Alli + Chad’s sweet reception tables under the trees.

FAVORITE CEREMONY: We love seeing couples say their vows in places of meaning. Marissa (and all of us for that matter), marveled at the beautiful chapel Suzanne + Sean were married in. Emily was a fan of Alli + Chad’s custom made altar set-up and Sierra thought Turner + Forrest’s church ceremony was oh so sweet.

FAVORITE BOUQUET: Cotton mixed with beautiful white blooms? Of course this arrangement from Turner + Forrest’s wedding caught Sierra’s attention. Emily loved the big pink flowers that filled Shelley’s bouquet, while Marissa was taken with the “blush and bashful” bouquet that Britt carried down the aisle — lace ribbon is a bonus, no doubt.

FAVORITE SWEET: We can never go through a Monthly Round-Up without bringing some attention of our favorite sweets. Elise + Matt’s Krispy Kreme favors was a winner in Emily’s book. It was Shelley + Greg’s bow-adorned white cake that took Sierra’s heart, though, and Suzanne + Sean’s navy patterned cake for Marissa.

FAVORITE PHOTO: And now for one of my favorite categories! The image of Holly and her ‘maids snug in bed together reminded Emily of her sisters. Marissa loved the image of Turner and her attendants and family praying before the ceremony. Sierra put the cherry on top with an adorable photo from Alli + Chad’s wedding.

Oh y’all. Today’s wedding is a vintage Southern dream. Can you believe that Alli + Chad’s beautiful venue was her grandfather’s backyard? Alli’s mom had arched windows constructed and placed in the meadow and I think it’s one of the prettiest ceremony set-ups I’ve seen. The garden-like flowers pulled in the elements of their surroundings beautifully without being overwhelming. It looks like the sweetest outdoor chapel, don’t you think? Big thanks to Anahi Navarro for sharing this wedding with us!

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. Chad and I met while in college at the University of North Texas. I was a sophomore studying fashion and Chad was a golf professional at Oakmont Country Club.
Describe the proposal. We both enjoy traveling and have taken trips to New York, Colorado, Mexico, and Jamaica, to name a few. Nine years into our relationship, my mom took the two of us to Austria and Germany to see the Passion Play in Oberammergau. On the third night of the trip while in Vienna, we attended a fabulous formal dinner in an old palace, followed by a concert of classical music and ballet. Chad had made arrangements earlier in the day to propose during the intermission. He called me onto the stage and, in front of a crowd of over 500, gave me a gorgeous bouquet of Vienna roses and proceeded to get down on one knee. He had a small Swarovski crystal box with the ring inside! Immediately following the proposal, the entire audience joined us on the balcony for a champagne toast! It was an unforgettable evening.
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Romantic, whimsical, enchanting.
In what month did you get married? April
How many guests attended your wedding? 175
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: There are too many too choose! There were so many details that my mom took hours planning and preparing, like the vintage furniture, floral arrangements created in my grandmothers silver, and hand-painted signs. My wedding cake was presented under a chandelier-crowned tent that was decorated as the bride’s dressing room. An antique dressing table held girly vintage dresser trays and powder jars, Stylebuilt jewelry boxes, and gloves. An antique brass hat rack displayed vintage ladies attire. A vintage wedding dressed Barbie reminded guests of fond memories of childhood dreams. Another highlight of the night was our departure from the reception in one of my grandfathers’ vintage Ford automobiles! A 1950 Ford convertible was sitting in the driveway complete with vintage suitcases ready for the honeymoon with ribboned tin cans hanging from the bumper. As guests awaited us, a costumed popcorn vender handed out old fashioned striped bags of popcorn. The convertible started with a rumble and a roar and guests ran alongside the car tossing rose petals as we rolled out of the driveway.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I searched all over Dallas! After visiting Warren Barron Bridal Salon in Highland Park Village, I knew I had found the one. It was a Lela Rose A-line, strapless dress of cotton and silk faille.
Describe your wedding flowers: The tables were adorned with silver containers of pink roses and baby’s breath, Queen Anne’s lace and hydrangeas! Vintage baskets, tiny bottles, mason jars and mercury glass vases were spilling over with greenery, peonies, wild flowers and fern. The Bride’s bouquet and the maids’ bouquets were a bundle of fresh flowers that looked like they had just been picked from someone’s garden. The men’s boutonnieres were all different, tiny clusters of wild flowers and greens with a feather here and there.
