Anyone who knows me, knows I adore French macaroons. My mother is a Cordon Bleu Paris trained chef, so I grew up speaking French in the kitchen while I watched her cook. She is what I like to call a “pastry connoisseur” (ok, she loves good ole’ southern Krispy Kreme too) and introduced me to these fabulous mini pastries. Yes, they taste like a little piece of Heaven, but I love them more for their sheer designer beauty. The colors are just divine!  No matter your wedding color scheme, there is a macaroon for you.  And the flavor combinations they come up with (try Rose Petal, Cassis Violet, Caramel & Salted Butter, Orange Flower, Grenadine, Ginger Apricot, Muscovado, Champagne and Orange Saffron) are a gourmand’s dream. {Ladurée macaroons} were recently featured in the movie Marie Antoinette, but I discovered them on my now favorite foodie blog, {La Tartine Gourmande}. Béa–food stylist, writer, photographer, and designer extraordinaire of this food blog–is such a talent. Her images are as delicious as the food itself! Brides, you will discover a whole host of dessert options here that trump the traditional wedding cake a hundred times over. How about these instead of gooey butter cream? Enjoy! ~Lara

The perfect Southern treat: Chocolate, Pistacio and Pecan Muffins with mini milk jars.  This would be a lovely surprise breakfast for your out of town guests the morning after your southern soiree.

These rustic Rhubarb Ginger and Vanilla Tartlets would be a delightful addition to an outdoor garden wedding menu.

Sorry for the unnanounced down time today.  We are having some server issues.  It should be resolved now.

OK, it is Southern Week on {Elizabeth Anne Designs}, ya’ll!   The amazing EAD editors asked us to put a little somethin’ southern together for them in honor of their perfect theme, so check back later in the week to see what we have put together for them.  We are loving their posts!  How about this lovely inspiration board (such a cool color scheme!) they posted today…

Since you are fixing computer issues…I read the SWS blog in my google reader and in google reader none of the photos from the blog show up…it’s just red Xs. I have to click over to the actual site to see photos. Not sure if that can be fixed but it would be helpful to be able to see the photos in google reader.

{Gandy Photographers} in Valdosta, GA for this fabulous southern image…

From the photographer:  We took the images last night at a rehearsal dinner in Lakepark, Georgia.  Justin and Susanna had everything decorated with a Kentucky Derby theme since this weekend is the Kentucky Derby. Note the grooms pants that have horses on them [and they are drinking mint juleps!]. We will be shooting their wedding today and it is going to be gorgeous!

Congratulations Jeff and Julie Gandy and the couple for their winning photo! Jeff and Julie win an ad on the blog for a month and Justin and Suzanna, shoot us an email and we have something special for you too.  We look forward to seeing the rest of the images from this wedding.  If they are even half as fun as Justin’s pants are, we are so excited!

I really want to know what page they were looking at in the photo. He’s so into it and she seems completely tickled. Too cute! Great job Jeff and Julie…can’t wait to see the wedding photos.

Hi I am Robert Gilliard with EppicMoments Photography. Thank you so much, SWSmag, for allowing us to enter your photo contest. My picture was actually inspired by a Norman Rockwell painting. Melony Hoyt was my beautiful model and we had a blast shooting it. I LIVE FOR PROJECTS LIKE THIS. Thank you again. WE LOVE YOUR MAGAZINE AND ALL YOU ARE DOING IN OUR INDUSTRY!

What a great photo. It looked so natural and candid, just one of those photo opportunities you can’t pass up…..and to win first place! Congratulations, Jeff and Julie Gandy. From Teresa Emrich (Julie’s kindergarten teacher and novice photographer)
