We are so excited to introduce our next guest blogger! After a slew of emails about her first post, Elizabeth was thrilled when we asked her to share some of her wedding day secrets with you. The greatest joy I have in working on this magazine is getting to know our beautiful brides. Liz is certainly one of those brides who makes my days so fun. It has been such a pleasure getting to know this incredibly sweet southern belle. Enjoy! ~Lara
Hello! I’m Elizabeth, a traditional southern bride with a twist. I’d like to share with you some of my vendors and ideas including how I made some nontraditional elements work in a southern and traditional setting!
The fabulous {Michael Norwood} from Orange County, California took our engagement pictures in Malibu, CA near where we now live (above). Our pre-ceremony pictures were taken in the riverbed at {Belle Meade Plantation}, the site of our ceremony. Michael also set up a slideshow of the ceremony at our reception, held at the {Nashville Downtown Hilton}, where the southern menu consisted of country ham encrusted filet mignon, cornbread dressing stuffed chicken breast, fried corn pudding and of course, sweet tea! Hamburger sliders came out a few hours after dinner.
{Pendragon} wrote the one of a kind script for our invitations, and also created our signature “W” that we printed on everything from our invitations to our aisle runner, created by {Fairytale Runners}. We used the aisle runner at the reception instead of the ceremony to create a grand entrance for everyone.
{Mary Elizabeth Long} left my hair in soft curls while Beth Pilgreen of Atlanta created my natural makeup. My dress was “Lia” by {Melissa Sweet}—a form fitting satin dress with a trumpet skirt. And who says the bride must wear white shoes? After searching for the perfect white wedding heel I decided to go with the shoe that I’d definitely wear again–black {Manolo Blahnik} heels. I went with a bold antique bib necklace, but the most unusual element was the 4-piece veil I designed and my mother-in-law made.
More on my DIY projects such as invitations, guest book and favors next! ~Liz
