Can we all just agree that Leigh’s wedding up-do is simply stunning?  Stunning!  Now that that’s settled, we can focus on the awesome details from Leigh + Jeff’s celebration at the Biltmore Estate.  Joey + Jessica Seawell photographed the lovely couple, and Melissa Porter of the Asheville Event Company planned the traditional North Carolina wedding.  The bride wore a dramatic Carolina Herrera gown (with a to-die-for train!), and her maids wore a mix of hydrangea-blue frocks from J. Crew.  Of course, there’s an equally amazing reception waiting for you this afternoon!

How did the two of you meet?  Tell us your story.  A mutual friend suggested we meet.  We were living in Washington, but were both originally from North Carolina.
Describe your wedding cake: We had a hazelnut cake with vanilla pastry cream, and a white cake with buttercream and raspberry preserve filling.  We had topiary leaves made from sugar paste, decorated the cake with hydrangea accents.  The pastry chef at the Biltmore was amazing!

Why hello, ladies and gents! I’m here to make an oh-so-special announcement. We have selected a winner for the Christine Darnell Fine Jewelry Giveaway and she is such a lucky lady! Christine is so passionate about her pieces and it shows. Each necklace, bracelet, set of earrings and ring is a piece of art and a labor of love. It was this expert craftmanship that won the Southern Weddings girls over and it looks like you guys are big fans as well! We applaud your great taste.

Congratulations to Catherine B. who won us over with this answer about her favorite Christine Darnell piece:

I have died and gone to heaven y’all! It took me forever to decide the piece that I love the most on Christine’s website. And in the end I have to go with the Patent Pearl and Leaf necklace. An adorable twist on a southern girl’s favorite pearl necklace. It is absolutely fabulous. The pearls are so unique and I love the look as if it were multi strand!

Catherine, we hope you enjoy your new Christine Darnell jewelry!

Goodbye until next week when we have another great giveaway for you!

I may have a little bit of a crush on today’s gorgeous bride, Anna.  Is she not the epitome of a Southern bride in her lace gown and cathedral-length veil?  The happy couple toasted their nuptials with an understatedly elegant reception at The Pinnacle Club, where everything – from the feminine florals from The Flower Garden to the front-porch portraits of the newlyweds – lent a low-key authenticity to their family celebration.  My favorite part(s) of the reception?  The rose-studded wedding cake and golf-inspired grooms’ cake from Edible Artistry.  Special thanks to Skip Hopkins for helping me ease into another week with this Georgia wedding!

Tell us about finding your wedding dress:  I have traditional/ classic taste and knew I wanted flat lace, assuming it would be accompanied with an A line style, but was unsure about different styles and did not want to rule out any options.  My mom and I went to one wedding shop store where I was able to narrow down what “style” would look best.  We tried another store and 3 hours later, I decided on a dress that I chose off of the rack.  After telling my future mother-in-law that I had envisioned a cathedral length veil, she graciously volunteered her veil that she wore 32 years ago, and that my future sister-in-law wore almost 5 years ago.
Describe your wedding flowers:  Hues of pink roses, green and white hydrangeas, bells of Ireland, green berries, stephanotises, ivy
Describe your wedding cake:  Absolutely divine yumminess. We had a 5-tier cake with buttercream icing.  The bottom layer, second layer and top layer were buttercream cake with a Bavarian cream and raspberry filling, the third layer was a strawberry cake, the fourth layer was a chocolate cake. Our baker makes an additional topper that is fresh and specially packed to withstand the freezer for our one year anniversary celebration.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? As soon as the church doors flew open, and Trumpet Voluntary was being played, my sweet husband-to-be started crying, which in turn made me cry tears of great joy!  We shared a handkerchief throughout the worship service.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? After returning from a fairytale honeymoon that my sweet husband planned in its entirety, we are looking forward to Wilson graduating from law school, traveling, growing old together, and creating many memories and our own family traditions.
