I can’t think of too many things more Southern than a beautiful bride in a simple lace dress, and Lindsey definitely fits this bill in her sweetheart WTOO gown.  The couple was married at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville, Tennessee.  Kate Murphy photographed the happy pair, and planner Alice Hendry styled their afternoon celebration.  One of my favorite details?  The bridesmaids’ sage green frocks from Jasmine Bridal!

P.S. from Emily: I usually try to include an assortment of images in our boards, but I just had to put in two of Lindsey’s gorgeous bouquet — love it!

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. We met our freshman year at Villanova University in August of 2001. We lived in the same dorm our freshman year and quickly became friends. Our friendship continued throughout those four years of college and then four years after while Ryan was in med school in Virginia and I was working in New York City. Eight years after we met, we realized that maybe there was a reason why we had always remained such an important part of each other’s lives since the moment we met. Doesn’t everyone want to marry their best friend? We moved to Tacoma, Washington in the summer of 2009 and were engaged in October.
Describe the proposal. Ryan planned a surprise trip for us to go to San Juan Island including hiking, lookouts of the ocean where you could see Orca Whales, an amazing dinner, tickets to see a show and a stay at a beautiful bed and breakfast. After we went to see the show we headed to the beach at the southern tip of the island. The night was perfectly clear and there were thousands of stars out. He got down on his knee and proposed. It was the perfect end to the perfect day.

As many of you know, last week Lara and I had the privilege of attending Engage!10 at The Breakers in Palm Beach.  She’ll be sharing her perspective on her blog soon, but asked me to recap the fabulous festivities here.  It was a delightful experience through and through, and I’m happy to do so!

Engage is a luxury wedding conference, and I could think of no better place to hold it than at The Breakers.  From the minute I stepped out of a cab from the airport to the moment I was hailed a cab to return to the airport, the service was impeccable — warm and friendly, knowledgeable, attentive without being pushy or stuffy.  A+++ to their entire staff.

I was immediately whisked right into a ballroom for the opening sessions.  Rebecca and Kathryn, the masterminds behind Engage! and Engaging Concepts, said a few words and then turned the mic over to Harmony Walton of the Bridal Bar, Ali Phillips of Engaging Events by Ali, Lienne Stevens of Think Splendid Communications, and Donna VonBruening of DBV Photographers — all six-time attendees sharing their accumulated wisdom as to how to get the most from the conference.  Simon T. Bailey, motivational speaker extraordinaire, spoke next, and he was, as always, a hit with the crowd.

We then had a mini breakout/introduction session, where I had the pleasure of meeting Amy Zaroff, Amy Atlas, and Heather Burge.  After much mingling, I was able to pick up my swag bag on the way back to my room, something I was very much looking forward to!  With goodies from The Artcraft Company, Ashley Brooke Designs, Blue Magpie, CECI New York, Checkerboard, Christopher Confero, Engaging Concepts, Fuz, Gifts for the Good Life, GO! Tie the Knot kit, Laura Hooper Calligraphy, liveBooks, Louella Press, Mindy Weiss for Two’s Company, Momental Designs, OPI, Personal Wine, Ring Finger Studio, Sandals Resorts Flip Outs, Savannah Wedding Professionals, Simply You Creations, Superfine Bakery, The Breakers, The Sugar Suite, TullaBelles, WED by Caroline Long, and Wedding Cake Pedestals, it did not disappoint.  Whew!

On to the photos, you say?  Okay!

After refreshing in our rooms, Lara and I headed to a special cocktail party hosted in The Breaker’s beautiful Imperial Suite.  There, I was thrilled (and a little geeked out) to meet Abby and Tait Larson of Style Me Pretty, Michelle Rago, Ellen of Lehr & Black, Mindy Weiss, Susan of Destination Weddings Magazine, Marilyn from Inside Weddings Magazine, and Todd Fiscus, Texas’ hilarious and highly-talented event designer.  It was also lovely to catch up with SW fave Randy Fenoli, who NEVER disappoints!

After about an hour we headed down to the official welcome party, which was styled in Engage!10 : The Breakers offical colors of Palm Beach, pink and green.  It was a Lilly-lover’s paradise!  Throughout the few days we were there the food was delicious and deliciously styled, and the welcome reception was no exception. The mojito granitas were a particular hit, though my favorite app had to be the mini bites of spaghetti and meatballs piled on a spoon.  Truth: my mouth just watered when I typed that sentence.

Pictured below :: Harmony and Randy; Josh, Sara, and Todd of todd.events; and me, Todd, Lara, Randy, Laurie Arons, and Jeff from The Breakers.

I’ll be back with more from day 2 soon!

P.S. Like my outfit?  It’s a design from Caroline Long, who was so kind as to send it for my wearing pleasure! Check out her lovely line here — perfect for bridesmaids!

We would be remiss to end this week without publicly thanking the scores of friends and fans that have posted about the new issue on their blogs. First, though, I suppose we should apologize for jamming up the airwaves on Twitter. According to our good friend Nate

Nah, we won’t apologize — we’re too excited! Without further ado, a few of the lovelies who’ve given us a shout-out over the last week:

Our good buddy Jonathan Canlas made us blush.

We will forever be indebted to Brooke and the Curious + Company team for their work on the “Choose Your Own Southern Wedding” feature.

Kiley + Tim’s wedding by Paul Johnson was the last wedding we accepted for V3 and we’re so happy we did!

Jose, Jose, Jose… we can’t sing his praises highly enough.

Gina Zeidler wowed us with her Texas brunch cover concept.

And the Vue chicks cover entry was sweet as a peach. Make sure you check out Diva Productions’ video from their shoot day!

Sweet Southern gal Emily Ley was invaluable in helping us with some of the trickier graphic design elements.

Our girl Jen from Green Wedding Shoes came up with the most stunning concept for her “Southern by Design” shoot. We love you, Jen!

Her co-conspirators Carissa of JL Designs

and photographer Stephanie Williams also had lovely things to say.

The ladies of 100 Layer Cake wowed us with their Great Gatsby concept.

We tapped one of our favorite bloggers, Kathryn of Snippet & Ink, to contribute to our Southern honeymoon story.

Kelly Hornberger was one of our fabulous sponsors, and she’s giving away a few copies on her blog!

Jill Thomas was responsible for one of the most beautiful real weddings we featured, Ali + Matt.

Bow ties and gorgeous pocket squares, oh my! The Cordial Churchman made us swoon with thier dapper creations featured in V3.

Lauren, from Every Last Detail, gave us her Southern insight on page 10!

Kirstie lent us a few photographs for the groom’s gallery and blogger directory.

We were THRILLED to have the chance to feature an A Bryan Photo wedding…

…and the work of SW fave Calder Clark.

Kate Headley was the talent behind another one of our real weddings (and perhaps my personal favorite!).

Yet another real wedding was shot by Anne Marie Photography. We loved the bold yellows!

We were thrilled to feature menus from Minted in one of our editorial spreads. They do amazing work and are so easy to collaborate with!

Lauren Larsen came through in the clutch with the perfect imagery to pair with an article that was in dire need of some beautiful photos. Thank you, Lauren!!

We couldn’t have dreamed up a better end story than Ruth & Jerry. Thanks to Donnan Photo for sending the two lovebirds our way!

Amelia Lyon was behind the camera for a stunning editorial spread!

And So Happi Together was the genius behind the details of the same spread!

To round out the all-star team from Amelia’s shoot, we were thrilled to find this post from The Loveliest Day who did event design and styling!

Last but DEFINITELY not least, Joey + Jessica were the photo geniuses behind our beautiful cover. We love you guys!!!

Thank you, again, to all of these lovely friends! If you wrote a post about the new SW on your blog, share it with us in the comments and we’ll make sure to include you in this post or a future one!
