The Old Edwards Inn was one of the first destinations I had the pleasure of traveling to after I moved to the South seven years ago, and it made a BIG impression on me. Now that I’ve added many, many dreamy venues in every corner of the South to my resume, I know that it wasn’t just naivety that made the OEI seem magical – it truly is! (Of course, the many weddings we’ve featured over the years at Old Edwards, like this stunner, helped, too.)

With its Old World, European charm; impeccable service; stunning surroundings; and friendly Southern hospitality, I can think of few better destinations to bring your guests to for a wedding. And whether you’re picturing an intimate celebration with just your closest family members or a blow-out bash, they’ve got a venue for you. Let’s take a tour of this North Carolina gem, shall we?

The Farm, Old Edwards’ largest venue, can accommodate 275 guests. Like all of OEI’s venues, it’s a rustic-inspired but fashionable setting!

The Old Edwards Club is next on the list, with a guest count clocking in at 150. Those views! Each venue takes advantage of its setting in the Blue Ridge Mountains in a different way, but all of them make for a flawless, joyful backdrop for celebrating.

The Piermont Cottage can also accommodate 150 guests. I LOVE that if you chose this venue, you’d get all of the coziness and gracious hospitality of an at-home wedding without the logistical challenges and parking snafus that typically come along with them!

A more petite venue, the Rockwood Lodge can host 100 guests. Like at the rest of the Old Edwards portfolio, your guests will be treated to menus made of farm-to-table cuisine highlighting seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients and crafted to complement your theme and vision. Again, those views!!

Finally, the Hutchinson House, which can accommodate up to 50 guests for an intimate party. In addition to smaller weddings, it would be perfect for rehearsal dinners and brunches! I can just imagine sitting around that outdoor fireplace the day after the wedding, rehashing all of the best moments and toasting s’mores :)

It also has to be noted that a trip to the Old Edwards Inn, in addition to being fantastic for a destination wedding, would be a superb option for a honeymoon (in any season!). For more about this Southern gem, head to their website!

When I began pulling inspiration for my future engagement ring back in my dating days, of course I considered a classic diamond. But, this was 2010, Prince William and Kate had just gotten engaged, and so I also loved the idea of a sapphire ring. After trying and failing (!) to convince my Mom to let me use her right-hand sapphire ring as my engagement ring, I was excited to consider some colored options when John and I visited our local jewelry store to browse.

Sadly, the (otherwise very nice) clerk immediately steered us away from colored stones, and I reluctantly gave up the idea. Had I known about Leibish & Co. at the time, today I might be rocking a pretty blue ring on my left hand, but since I’m not, at least there’s hope for all you fancy colored diamond lovers out there! I’m excited to show you what Leibish & Co. has in store today, including, of course, sapphire engagement rings :)

Leibish & Co. is an internationally-recognized specialist and online dealer of natural fancy colored diamonds and colored diamond jewelry, like ruby engagement rings. The business began in 1979 and today is a leading supplier to renowned jewelers, designers, and manufacturers throughout the world, as well as stylish and sentimental brides and grooms! We have a soft spot for family businesses, and Leibish & Co. definitely qualifies – it’s helmed by a father and his five children.

Leibish & Co.’s stones are mined in Australia, Africa, India, and Russia and all come from legitimate, conflict-free sources. I was also happy to see that their selection is one of the largest online, with fancy and ideal cuts in hues, clarities, and sizes set for any budget.

In addition to ruby and sapphire beauties, they also have an enviable collection of emerald engagement rings. To browse their full selection and learn more about colored diamonds, visit their website!

And I’d love to hear: did you ever consider, or do you proudly wear, an engagement ring with a colored stone?

These are so pretty! I have a normal diamond, but I love to see a colored stone engagement ring! I am also partial to sapphires, as it’s my birthstone, but I love emeralds too.

I love that this sweet company is being highlighted (and amazing use of the word helmed!). I’ve always dreamed of a colored side stone and I love the two tone settings shown here!! Side note: I’d love to see a post on choosing your own ring vs being surprised. I have a pretty specific dream ring but would also love to see what my future hubs comes up with… I know there are so many perspectives and I’m curious what others think!

    Thanks!

With all the excitement surrounding finding your dream wedding dress, it’s sometimes easy to forget that the dress is only one part of your wedding day look! In the same way little details and sweet touches add layers of beauty to your reception tables, carefully chosen accessories customize your look in a way that’s all your own. I couldn’t help but think back on my own wedding day while perusing Bel Aire Bridal’s new collection–I was a spring bride, and thought an elegant, but still romantic and sweet, bridal style would be a perfect fit for the season. All of those words rang true to me when I was thinking of ways to describe these new Bel Aire Bridal pieces, from the rose gold and pearl comb to the horsehair-edged veil. So, if you’re a spring bride too, you’ll definitely want to take a look!

Just like when hunting for your dress, the key to choosing the perfect accessories for your wedding is to keep the big picture in mind. Is your venue ultra-modern and chic or romantic and rustic? Are you planning a black-tie soirée or a garden brunch reception? Envisioning your celebration and how you hope to look and feel will make it much easier to decide between multiple options you love! Need a little extra help? Click through Bel Aire Bridal’s My Bridal Style pages for inspiration (and let us know in the comments what kind of bride you are! I was a “Classic Bride” :))

Of course, if you have your dress, that will certainly play a major role in your accessories decision, but here’s a secret: if you fall in love with a veil or earrings or another accessory early on, there’s no rule saying you have to wait to find your dress first! We’ve heard plenty of stories from brides who searched for a dress to match the veil they dreamed of wearing. In fact, I kind of love the idea of basing your wedding day look around an accessory (what kind of dress would you pair with this tiara or this comb?), especially because it’s something that’s so easy to pass down to future generations. “Heirloom potential” is an important consideration when choosing your accessories, and I can imagine any of the Bel Aire Bridal pieces becoming family treasures for decades to come!

Which of these pieces is your favorite? Did you have a favorite wedding day accessory? We’d love to hear!

I’m a long (looong) ways off from a wedding, but I love the idea of finding a dress to match the veil! That sounds like it would be much less overwhelming than starting with a blank slate or without a vision. Thanks for the tip!

I will be a “Classic Bride” as well, Lisa! I have always pictured my wedding day look to be timeless and classic and am about to start my search for a dress to match that!
